Naw not from Derry sorry! But I was up in NewBuildings the other day to collect my pup, thats just outside Derry correct? Anywho!! Yeah I did pass for my leaving too. Word of advice - if you dont care or need your irish mark, just learn the first paper and your oral off. the Aural is easy enough. I didnt even sit the second paper and I managed to pass hehe! But then again I had 6 different subjects that i relied on for the marks so..

At the age of 4/5 we're forced to learn Irish! Then when we're about 13 or so we get to learn french or german in secondary school. I have found that everyone I know is better at French/German rather than Irish. Its actually kind of difficult , and thought wrong. It should be thaught to us with an interesting angle rather than "learn or else" kinda thing

Oh that's pretty sad, ruining our native language like that. In the province of Canada that I live in most of us are forced to learn French at a pretty early age (8? 9?) and then once you hit a certain level of school you can either take some kind of language or you can take math . Many people hate taking french... partly because most of us don't really have any french background and don't plan on going to the french areas of canada. But even though they hate French they hate math much much more so they'll stick to something they know they can do XD. I took both because I love French and I love math. smile

Well I've never had the benefit of studing Irish, but I'm told (by my rascally cousins) that it isn't hard for intelligent students and it has the advantage of being the best language for love. rofl
That sounds really compelling until you've heard some of the other things they've tried to convince me of.
