Welcome to Hank's General Store, otherwise known as the original store in Lamptown. Still owned and operated by "Old Man" Hank Gordan, the store is known for the stories of all the crazy things that have happened in there, mostly having something to do with Old Man Hank. Many of these stories may be rooted in the fact that Hank keeps a shotgun visible behind the cash register. When asked at one point whether said shotgun was loaded, the following situation occured:
Quote:
CUSTOMER came up to the cash register with their items that they were going to buy today. CUSTOMER and Hank have the usual forced conversation that occurs when a new customer moves somewhere and meets the cashier at the store. Suddenly CUSTOMER noticed the shotgun. CUSTOMER asks "Is that thing loaded?"

Hank replies "I dunno, wanna test it?"

CUSTOMER is never seen again.

Aside from that though, you may notice that although the store is huge and contains almost everything a resident of Lamptown could even think of buying (except cooked food, CDs, and books), Hank has still kept a "Western" theme to it, from the bat-wing doors to the loud country music blaring from the jukebox in the corner at all hours.

Hank sat by the cash register, polishing his shotgun and listening to "Cowpoke Rodeo" on the jukebox. "Not many customers today," He said as he spat on the rag he was using to polish his gun once more and ran it over the barrel of the shotgun a couple more times.

The first thing Anrea noticed when she walked in the store was that the man behind the register had a gun. The second thing she noticed was the horrible music, which she was not going to comment on, because of the previously observed gun.

She wandered down aisles, not really looking for any particular food item--she just wanted to put as much space and shelving between her and the gun as possible.

She picked up a loaf of bread, because it was cheap and nearby, and then some peanut butter and butter for the same reasons. That wouldn't nearly be enough to last her for the week, but she didn't have enough money to buy much more, either. Stupid TV. Shouldn't have bought it. Even if it was so nice...

And Azhar? What on earth did you feed to light bulbs?

Anrea peered around a shelf, seeing if it was safe to buy her food yet, or if the gun was still out.

Hank looked up at the girl whose head happened to be peeking out at him from behind a shelf. "Come on now, don't be shy. I'm not gonna shoot you if you don't get on my nerves too much."

He put the gun down in it's usual spot and threw the rag on the floor as he stood up and ambled over to the cash register.

'Too much'? How much was too much? What annoyed him, anyway?

But he had put the gun away, and she really did need food...Even if it was just going to be peanut butter and butter sandwiches for the next week. Whatever, she was young, and her heart could take the abuse of that much cholesterol.

She approached the counter warily, ready to run as soon as it seemed like the man was going for his gun, and put down her three items, hoping she had enough to pay for all of them.

Azhar, silly little thing that he was, hopped out of her hand, and onto the counter, right next the bread, looking like he might be staring up at Hank.
