He is currently partnered with Kisame to capture Naruto. Unlike most other two-man teams of Akatsuki, Itachi gets along well with his partner. The name "Itachi" means "weasel". In Japanese folklore, weasels are an ill omen, signifying bad luck and death.
Itachi graduated at the top of his Academy class at age 7, had mastered the Sharingan by age 8, became a Chunin at 10, and became an ANBU squad captain at the age of 13. Itachi was considered the prodigal ninja among his clan. His father, who took an active interest in his son's career, said Itachi was the "pipe" that connected the clan to his village.
As a result of his father's involvement in Itachi's life, Itachi's little brother, Sasuke Uchiha was neglected. Itachi watched over Sasuke to a degree, convincing his father to spend time with Sasuke, such as attending Sasuke's entrance ceremony into Konoha's ninja academy, which required a guardian to be present. This changed after a confrontation between Itachi and his father.
After the suicide of Shisui Uchiha, who was believed to be Itachi's best friend, by drowning, Itachi was approached by three of his fellow clan members and questioned about the incident. Though they didn't state it outright, they considered him a suspect since both the circumstances surrounding the suicide and the suicide note seemed off. Angered, Itachi confronted the three and forced them to admit the truth. One of them mentioned that Itachi began behaving strangely about half a year after he joined ANBU. After a threat by one of the three, Itachi assaulted and effortlessly defeated all of them. In response to this, it was revealed that Shisui was told to keep an eye on Itachi due to his strange behavior. After being confronted by his father about his behavior, Itachi responded that "[he'd] lost all hope for this pathetic clan", but apologized regardless when asked to stop by Sasuke.
Not long after this incident, Itachi slaughtered his entire clan except for Sasuke, who had been at the academy during the slaughter. Sasuke returned home shortly after everyone was killed and found his brother standing over the bodies of their parents. When questioned on his motives by Sasuke, he claimed it was "to test [his] ability". He revealed he purposely played the part of the loving older brother as a way to test Sasuke's potential. Itachi also confirmed the truth of the suspicions that he had murdered Shisui in order to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan, for which killing one's best friend is a requirement. He then departs, telling Sasuke that he wasn't "worth killing" and that if he wants to kill him he must spend his life hating him and acquire the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Itachi mainly uses ninjutsu and genjutsu during battle, both of which are augmented by his Mangekyo Sharingan. In the former, Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan allows him to use Amaterasu, a jutsu which creates black flames that are hotter than the sun and can penetrate any barrier. The few normal ninjutsu he uses aren't necessarily that powerful, but Itachi is able to use them so quickly that even another Sharingan user has trouble following the movements. With his Sharingan, Itachi is virtually immune to his opponent's genjutsu, simply reversing it back upon them using the copy abilities of the Sharingan. With the Mangekyo Sharingan, Itachi can use Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu which traps his opponent in an illusionary world. Itachi can then torture his opponent for days on end, all of which takes place in the blink of an eye in the real world. Though the main strategy to avoid the Sharingan is to avoid eye contact and focus on Itachi's feet or body, as mentioned by both Gai and Kakashi, even this is not a certain method of evading his techniques. What do you think of Itachi?
Itachi...It's hard to put into words. I LOVE Itachi, for his calm attitude, and his cool atmosphere. I HATE Itachi because of what he's done to Sasuke. And I can't forgive him and the Akatsuki going after Naruto. I don't know what happened to put him in the mind set he was in when he decided to kill the clan, but I think I much rathered Itachi when he was at least "pretending" to be a good guy, back before he killed the clan. It's just...baffling how he set his mind to do that at THIRTEEN.
Why do you think he killed the clan?
I personally think that the clan expected too much of him, and it pissed him off. Something in his mind snapped, and he decided to take them all out.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
Because Sasuke was maybe the only one who really cared? His father pushed him too hard, and his mother didn't do a thing about it. A bunch of others didn't like him, as well. The rest? Who knows. I think he got mad at the clan in general. Things some members did made him hate the entire clan. Sasuke wasn't grown enough to be considered in that clan. Sasuke wasn't corrupted.
Should Itachi be seme or uke?
Seme. Just because. Uke!Itachi makes no sense.
Other Itachi pairings?
ItaSaku is OKAY, though my liking for it is dropping. ItaDei isn't half-bad either.

What do you think of Itachi?
To me Itachi is some what of an enigma. He is so hard to figure. He is cool and calculating, but I do not think he is emotionless like most people think. Yes he shows little but he does not lack them as we see at times.
He also is cruel but is not blood thirsty like you would think him to be.
He is hard to figure and I believe there is more to him than what we have come to know thus far.
Why do you think he killed the clan?
I don't believe the whole "I did it to test my power". Yes that may be part of it, but I believe that is but a clip of a much bigger picture. We might even be shocked at knowing the whole truth. After all only Itachi knows what really happened on that night.... after all what he showed Sasuke could be a lie since he could have shown him anything with the Mangekyou.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
As a means to an end. Sasuke is just a tool that he left to end his life.

I don't hate Itachi, although I know I really should, but at the same time, I believe he loves his brother very much and had his reasons for killing the clan, I'm not sure why but I hope to find out in the manga. 3nodding

What do you think of Itachi?
I don't hate Itachi, but it's odds and ends on this one. I love his attitude towards this, how he never really seems surprised about something; keeping calm.
But his attitude seemed to have a breaking point when the Uchiha massacre happened. Even if he seems utterly emotionless, you know that he's not, considering that he killed his Clan.
Itachi's persona is a hard one to understand completely, but you get a grasp of it once in awhile.
Why do you think he killed the clan?
Why did he kill the Clan? It's hard to say, but to think that someone could kill so many people without a second thought,is unbelievable. But if you remember, you know that the Clan may have been pushing him too hard, and having expectations that Itachi was tired of living up to; having his life surround around those expectations.
His mind must have snapped under the pressure, but you can't always be so sure of these things. No matter what happened, we can't be so obstain, as we don't know what exactly Itachi was thinking.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
There could be many reasons why Itachi decided to leave Sasuke alive, but one of the most obvious ones would/should have been that Sasuke seemed to be the only one who actually cared about Itchi's well-being. Consider the fact when Itachi first says that he's had it with the Clan, he seems in a utter phase of madness, until Sasuke tells him to stop; it jolts him back to reality. there's a point that shows that Sasuke's probably one of the only people able to 'help' Itachi in one way or the other.
Another reason, is so that Itachi could have someone worthy of ending his life. Sasuke could just be a left-behind Uchiha, meant to kill Itachi, and rid Itachi of his sins.

Itachi is very interesting, you never really know what to expect from him.

I think it was a combination of what he said about testing his limits nad he was just fed up with their narrowmiundedness.

becasue deep down he loves Sasuke and wanted ot change hte clan not wipe it out, so he left Sasuke alive ot restart hte clan nad make it better!

What do you think of Itachi?
I think he's the God of ninjas, to be honest. His character intrigues me. He's polite, and doesn't kill unless there's a perfectly good reason. So what was his reason for killing the clan? To test his ability? If that were the case, then when he fought Asuma and Kurenai, he would have killed them without hesitation.
From what we've gathered, he is still stronger than Orochimaru and Sasuke. However, Gai and Jiraiya seem to intimidate him.. ?
There's more to Itachi than what Kishimoto has given us so far. I hope more will be revealed later.

I don't really know. I don't believe the reason he gave, though.
Maybe he snapped? The clan was too obsessed with power and being the best. Maybe he just got tired of it.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
Because he loves him~? -Shot- Okay, seriously.. it's already been said; so that Itachi could have someone worthy of ending his life. He knows how strong he is, and he knows how much potential Sasuke has. He wants to die by Sasuke's hands.
.. I'm not a full believer of that idea, but it makes a little sense. xD;

What do you think of Itachi?
He's complicated, a flesh covered machine that long ago would have become real. His 'true self' is frozen inside the machine, covered by layers of ice. If he realizes such or not, it is the last thing on his mind. He never gives into any form of blood lust, which makes you wonder if he's even human anymore.
Why do you think he killed the clan?
I really think he was trying to prove that he isn't perfection, and yet, at the same time prove that he is.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
Possibly for narcissistic reasons. What better to do when you've reached perfection than to make a copy of your perfection? But it seems the copy has lost his way.
Should Itachi be seme or uke?
Itachi appears to be the kind of character who could go either way. Yet, if he is Uke, he must be on top. He cannot be touched. He cannot hear your voice. He must still have control. If he is Seme, he has fulfilled his role. He has the power.

He is hot!Both of the Uchiha brothers are my tied for my favorite anime character of all time.Both have that powerful bad a** attitude I can't help but love.I LOVE YOU ITACHI!!!

I believe the pressure his family put on him finally broke him.If my family only liked me because I was seen as a perfect ninja and nothing else,I'd probably end up the same way as him.

He claims he did it because he wanted to see how powerful Sasuke could become.I can believe that...however,I don't think that power was the main reason.I think he left him alive because while everyone loved him for his perfection,Sasuke hated him for it.Sasuke liked him, not as a ninja because it reminded Sasuke of how insignificat he was to Itachi, but as his brother.I think Itachi couldn't kill him because Sasuke is the only one who truly loved him and Sasuke is the only person Itachi really loved as well. He continues that bad a** image by saying it was for power and therefore not revieling his weakness for Sasuke(How my mind works!).

-What do you think of Itachi?-
Itachi is a complicated character. Because he is an Uchiha, he is difficult to explain. Especially his motives. He is secretive and manipulative. But deep down, you cant really tell what he wants. To be honest, I think he felt that he wasnt truely accepted emotionally by his family. Because he progressed so quickly. And by such, he became who he was. He was treated older then he was and as a visitor of the family. I think thats why he treated Sasuke so greatly. Because Sasuke actually cared for him, as a brother. Something that Itachi needed in life. And in that, I believe that is the reason that Sasuke was left a live. The real reason at least. So he is complicated, but in time I think we will find out what his true motives in life were. Suprisingly I see the a death of Itachi, but a sad one. Maybe where Sasuke finds out the reason that Itachi left him alive, in maybe his dying moments. And then Sasuke regretting it. I dont know, I see that happening. Angsty.

He never truely loved his clan. His father didnt treat him like a son ever. Itachi was a prodegy, moreso, there was more expected of him. He killed off his family because he didnt care for any of them. Everyone looked to him for answers, to be the strong one. He was what the clan had always wanted. And I think he snapped one day. Because Sasuke actually treated him like a brother. Like someone who looked up to him. Someone with actual faults in his life and looked to his big brother as a role model. Itachi couldnt kill the only person he truely loved. His little brother. Looking back, Itachi only smiled around Sasuke. He was always there to get him. He actually acted human around him. Picking on him. Poking him in the head. Silly things like that. He left Sasuke for other reasons then to just hate him. And in a sense I think he wants his little brother to kill him. Because he knows he will be the only one that can. Kind of a dying wish thing. And he knows that he wont do it unless hates him for what he did.

Uhm. Seme. Definately. Uke Itachi. No sense what so ever.

I liked ItaSaku alot. But I havent seen much fandom of it. So yea. I still love it though. Itachi x Naruto. Because its Ironic. And maybe Kakashi x Itachi. But those are just ones I like. The only ones that I love that so crack it makes sense is Itachi x Sasuke.

What do you think of Itachi?
Itachi is the God of Naruto. Look at him, he is one of the most complicated characters in the show and his power is incredible. He can kill sauske ina blink of an eye, same with Naruto. He is the type of guy that you never truly know what's going on inside his head; he allows you too see what he wants you to see. I don't really know why he left sauske alive nor why he joined the Akatsuki but I do know that he has somthing up his sleave thjat we will find out later.
Why do you think he killed the clan?
I think he killed them all because he saw through them. He saw them using him as a tool; as his father was. I belive he know the Uchiha clan had somthing wrong with them that made them crave power, and worship those in power.
Why do you think he left Sasuke alive?
I think he left sauske alive because he knew that his father never paid attention to his younger brother and that sauske saw him as his brother not as a tool. I also think he knew Sauske didn't think like the other Uchiha and that he was not "tainted" by them.
Should Itachi be seme or uke?
Itachi is the seme because his personality is too dominate to be the uke. I can only picture him as the uke if he was tied up or something like that.

What do you think of Itachi?
He is awsome, how he does that thing with his hair *tries, pfft, wears the wind* I have long hair it wont work. But he is so kewl, but it stink because later on in the episode his eye sight starts to go bad, and I hate it when people make fun of his eyes sight

To test how much his little brother loved him. *scared his lil bro to death*

Umm, that ones hard, theres several but I will name my top two.
1. He was weak so he wanted to see him when he is strong so he can be proud.

also the reason he killed his clan it was probably if they knew he loved Sasuke more than a brother *if that was the case* they would hate him and shun him.
