You move quietly and cautiously as you enter Lord Vetinari's study. Though he has summoned you, you can't help but feel an intruder. As you near his desk, you smell a faint trace of old bread and a whiff of ink.
He waves across the desk and pushes a sheet of paper towards you.
"You are new here, aren't you? I don't mind telling you that new people don't last long in the Shades. Well, I can't be bothered to watch over you're every move. Just read this paper, it will help ease your transtion."
As you accept the paper, he immediately dives back into his work. The faint scritching of quill across parchment fills the study.

All standard Gaian Rules and Regulations apply to this guild. Violation of any of these rules may result in banning, which will be determined by myself and the Crew who reported you.Do not bring, use, promote, or post Spam. Though you may enjoy it, we do not tolerate it within city limits. Cattle is to be sorted by weight before entering the city. If you must BUMP, please, do so with a quote from a Discworld book. Paraphrasing is all right, but don't get carried away. Roleplaying is allowed, in fact, welcomed, but please, state in your thread title that it is an RP. Mimes and other street performers will not be tolerated. I reserve the right to choose any punishment I deem worthy. In the same vein, do not post duplicate threads. If you choose to drink in a dwarf or troll bar, you get what you deserve. If you see any post or thread in violation of the rules, PM a guild crew member other than myself first. I am a busy man and cannot deal with every little thing. Do not PM Lord Havelock Vetinari or Commander Samuel Vimes about any non-guild issues! If you feel like chatting to the master of this guild, PM Lord Shishio, as all three accounts are his. Do not direct link to guild images for use outside the guild, host them on your own space. These rules are subject to change whenever I see the need for a new rule. Yon rulef of ye threadfAll roleplaying threads must begin their titles with (The bits between the brackets.) In the case of an Guild RP thread, use Yon Rulef ande Guidelinef of ye GuildefIf you wish to create a guild or RP thread, you must first contact Lord Havelock Vetinari via PM and discuss it with him. Guild RP and Thread RP heads will be known from here out as "RP Leaders." For each RP thread, I require that the first post be reserved for Thread Rules (including XP costs), Cast List, and Title Post only (see the Watch RP for an example). The second post should be the introduction to the RP, and can be written however the RP Leader sees fit. Once the ball is rolling and the RP here is strong enough, an overall plot will begin. RP Leaders will be "in the fold" and know certain bits of this plot, and some will be required to enact it. RP Leaders will be granted Crew-like sovereignity over thier threads. If an RP Leader wishes a spammy post deleted, they may contact a Crew member to remove it for them. ExperieceIn order to help determine success with certain more difficult actions, an XP system is now in place. XP will be a spendable resource, as well as an overall guage of skill. I will keep a running tally of total XP recieved (this will represent general competence), and the unspent "available" XP (this will be used to pass certain obstacles, purchase rank/priveleges, etc.). At the beginning of each week (Sunday), each RP Leader will recieve 10 Experience to deal out to ANYONE who posts in thier threads. This is not restricted to members and can be given to any deserving RPer. XP should be given for good roleplay, exceptional Discworldness, and other such activities. On Saturday, all RP Leaders will send thier XP tallies, spent and awarded, to Commander Samuel Vimes. There will be a locked sticky detailing current XP tallies. Once XP has been added to the tally, it becomes available to use. In addition to RP Leader awarded XP, each RPer will recieve 1 XP per week, so long as they made at least one RP post within that time. Finally, each month, all RP Leaders will vote on who the best RP member has been. That member will recieve a special 10 XP bonus. If a member spends more XP than they have available, the negative XP will be owed, and their running tally will be reduced by the same amount. XP CostsEasy Action - Free Normal Action - Free Difficult Action - 1-4 XP (May be mitigated by a set XP Total) Hard or Complex Action - 5-8 XP Extreme or Impossible Action - Set by Vimes And remember, when it comes to actions that can allow mutliple participants, members may combine and spend thier XP for mutual success.

As you finish reading and look up, Lord Vetinari clears his throat. He looks up, locks eyes with you for a moment, and speaks.
"Don't let me detain you..."
With that he returns again to his work.

You slowly close the door as you leave Lord Vetinari's study. Drumknott, his Lordship's personal assistant, quickly ushers you off the premesis. As you stand in the street in front of the Patrician's Palace, you can't help but come to the realization that you have truly become a part of this grand city.
And as a representative of the Thieves' Guild steps out of the shadows before you, you have a second thought... Perhaps a citizen of Ankh-Morpork is not the best thing to be...
