A little on the chubby side, but not obese. She looks as though she hasn't quite lost her baby fat. She's 5'1"and feels like a shrimp.
She has medium brown hair with some reddish highlights; which falls just below her shoulders. When she doesn't have it pulled back into a braid she lets it cascade down in waves, but clips the sides back with a barrette. Her hair is naturally curly and it drives her crazy. No matter how much hair product she uses it never co-operates with her. Her eyes are light hazel with golden brown and green flecks. Her cheeks have a few freckles which she tends cover with makeup.
Personality:Akina is very self conscious about her appearance and thinks that she is ugly. Part of this comes from her being a little overweight. The other is the fact that she has freckles which tend to be frowned upon. She is constantly worried about what she eats and is often trying the latest diet. She is a little reserved when it comes to making friends, although she gets along well with most people she is afraid to really open up to anyone.
She tends to be a little flighty and easily moves from one topic to another. Often times losing the person in which she is speaking to in the process. With her quick mind she comes up with lots of wonderful ideas and is completely gung-ho about them. That is until she gets bored and moves on to the next splendid idea. She has left many a projects behind half finished and collecting dust.
She is good at memorizing information for tests, but once the exams are over she tends to forget what she has learned. She is endlessly curious about everything and her mind is always thirsty for more information. She can often be found in the library reading; usually researching something. If the subject is boring she’d rather not continue learning about it unless she knows the information will come in handy. She is inclined to be restless and fickle.
Akina has a strong idea about what is right and what is wrong. She believes in upholding justice and will do whatever it takes to correct any wrong doing she has commited. She will also tell someone when she doesn't agree with what they are doing.
She is very good at keeping secrets mostly so she can hear all the good gossip. Most people find her to be very trustworthy.
She enjoys being outside in the sun with a good book or taking pictures with her trusty camera. Going to the art museum and spending hours upon hours gazing at the works of the muggle masters. She enjoys studying every painting up close trying to figure out exactly how the artist managed to do each brushstroke. Also likes eating chocolate covered strawberries in the summertime with a nice glass of iced tea while lounging beneath a shady tree.
Her least favorite things are: insects, especially of the flying variety; moths, bees, roaches, etc. Dogs, loud obnoxious people, loud noises, whistling, mushrooms, broccoli, bell peppers, and beef are also on her list.
Akina is terrified of dogs of all sizes and will run and hide until they have been removed from her sight. She was once bitten by a dog when she was about 6 years old and the memory has yet to fade.
As much as she loves to take pictures, she can’t stand to be in them. She would much rather be the photographer capturing the world around her. She thinks she will break the camera lens with her ugliness if her photo is taken. Of course she knows that isn’t true, but she still feels that way about it.
Akina is scared of flying insects mostly because they like to buzz around her head and get caught in her wavy locks. Like a moth to a flame they seem to be attracted to her and in her mind they are attacking her. If she sees a bug flying towards her she covers her head and shrinks away from the creature, usually by holding her hands and arms up close to her upper body. She gets extremely squeamish and squeals if there is a bee or moth in her vicinity.
Aside from the library she enjoys spending time in the courtyard sketching, usually of other students who happen to be in the area at the time; or practicing charms and other spells. She is protective of her work and tries to keep whatever she is working on hidden until she's done. Of course it is hard to keep curious and wandering eyes from peeking over her shoulder which happens to bother her tremendously.
She has a huge weakness for sweets, particulary cheesecake. It takes a lot of willpower for her to resist a slice of the treat. Her mother is very strict about Akina's sweet intake, so oftentimes she has to hide her secret stash of goodies.
Background: Akina's family is origionally from Japan, but they moved to the UK when Aki was very young. It was quite a surprise to her when she found out that they were different from most families. She thought everyone was able to use magic, therefore she is intrigued by muggles.
Her mother’s family is in the tea business and exports many different teas all over the world. They have been in the industry for many generations. Even before they started trading around the globe their family was known all over Japan for their delicious varieties of green and other teas. Her mother used to work at a tea house giving tea ceremony demonstrations for foreigners. Because of this Akina is pretty good at it, although she prefers the easy to use teabags. Since they moved however her mother has opened a new tea house outside of London.
Her father’s family owns a broadcasting company: JNBS; which runs one of the largest television studios in Japan. Most of the time he is traveling back and forth between London and Tokyo, so Akina doesn't see him that often.
Akina is the middle child. She has an older brother Katsuro, and a younger sister Kiku. She figures she lucked out not having to worry about taking over the family business. Although she doesn't mind the idea of being an important figure, she just doesn't want all the responsibility.
Akina has always been very artistic as well as good at magic. As soon as she was able to hold a crayon she was drawing. Although she doesn't do it nearly as much or as well as she thinks she should. Her parents have always encouraged her to use her talents to the best of her ability. Of course her mother is more interested in her eldest daughter being the most ladylike so as to become good wife material and find a good wizarding family to marry into.
