There are several Mercedes Lackey books out there, as we all know. What I wonder is what is your favorite and why do you think its so great? Also, Which do you like better, Companions or Bond-Birds?
for me, I love Take a Thief because it shows how even the lowest man on the totem-pole of life can be great in the end (im a sucker for under-dog stories) And ill have to go with bond-birds, I love anything that can fly (except for Makaar)

Storms trillogy; my top favorite books.
firecats, my top favorite animal things.

im so lame, its not even funny.
The makaar, from what i read, aren't actually that bad... though, i base that assuption off of the fact that i read half of chapter one of the mage wars. darnit.
Storms is my favorite, not just becuase of the heavy karse-ness in it, but omg poor karal XD i like the 'get pushed into a new country where no one likes you an be expected to do good things' thing. plus firecats pwn.
thus ends my logic.

I have read all three of the mage wars trilogy, and makaar are vary bad. I mean c'mon, they were created my Mar to be a screwed up version of gryphons! not to mention that they are just plain ugly! Karse is an ok place if you like killing kids and all but ... 'nuf said. Altho i have to agree that karal is pritty cool and ur right, firecats pwn.

Just because they had a few years with a bad rep, doesn't mean their bad all together D:
i mean, yes, they did burn their own people for practicing 'witchcraft' but then again, who hasn't done that?
So, they summoned scarey demons to do their bidding and keep their citizens in line.. but what sort of country leader hasn't wanted to do that??
i rest my case.

Valdemar never did that (burn their people for witchcraft). And i truely believe that King Theran (nor any other Valdemarian monarch) would ever summon scary demons to "keep their citizens in line" - I rest my case.

Well... if you compair Karse to Valdemar, then karse is like, evil evil and still going....
i'm to sleepy to actually argue (and spell for that matter) so... bleeh.

I liked them all, but the Owls are probably my favorite.
I'm afraid I never finished the Mage Wars/Gryphons Trilogy. While I LOVED Skan and Zhaneel and Amberdrake and Winterheart. Their children bored me out of my skull.

Bondbirds. They're less...arrogant. I suppose. There have been companions I likes. Just...I like the Taledrayas culture in general.

I like either Elspeth or Kerowyn best . . . it's really hard to decide which. And of the books I like Kerowyn's Tale best; I think it stands up the bext to re-reading. I also have to say that I'm a sucker for those big, blue Companion eyes . . .

Gryphon trilogy was beautiful all except the last one... I couldn't bring myself to finish it. So much whining and complaining >< ugh!

I agree. The Silver Gryphon was awful compared to the other two. Skan is probably my favorite character of all time, followed by Amberdrake, Vanyel, and Talia. I'm actually more partial to the Companions. They seem, all in all, more helpful than the bondbirds. I do love the bondbirds, but the Companions are better.
