Okay, there are two issues that I'd like to address in this thread.
First of all, bannings. It has come to my attention by looking through some threads around here, that it is far too easy for people to fake their way in to the guild in the "request to join." Then, when they actually get in the guild, their illiteracy shows. Sorry, but that's just not going to happen. (This is not in reference to people who have English as a second language, this is people who are too lazy to maintain something that's any semblance of English, like n00b-speak).
So I'm asking everyone in the guild, if they see a member who is exceptionally n00bish and annoying, please PM me with their username, and several links to threads that proves this person is taking away from the experience of the guild more than they are contributing due to difficult to understand posts. You WILL remain anonymous. I will never give out names of those who report this to me.
Some of you may be asking, "What is n00bish anyway? What are things to watch out for/make sure I'm not doing?" Simple.
A-ny posts that are incomprehensible due to n00b speak (where everything's abbreviated or acronyms.. like "plz" "thx" "OMG U R" ..stuff like that. I really don't give a crap if someone occasionally goes LOL or something, but if their entire vocabulary consists of "LOL U R FUNNIE" .. then BZZT! You lose.)
-Anyone who stretches the damn page unnecessarily (I just deleted posts from a member in question who spelled the word "rocks" as "rox" but with 80 billion x's, causing the page to be stretched beyond belief)
-Anyone who spams or even harasses other guild members.
-Huge stupid run-on sentences, but these usually are accompanied by heavy n00b-speak, so chances are they'd be identified as that before a run-on. I just put this here just in case.
-All caps lock. x.x
NOTE: I do not care if you make a few spelling mistakes. There are some people who apply and have a perfect grasp of grammar aside from a misplaced comma and a few words that aren't spelled right, but that's really not a problem at all. I'm not ridiculously picky. I just want to save this place from becoming more of an incomprehensible mess that some threads here are.
Which brings me to my second point. We need more mods. Anyone interested, please post here with WHY you want to be a mod and what you hope you can do for the guild, and I'll put you under consideration.

That "rox" kid was getting on my nerves. I cut down at least two of his posts so they wouldn't stretch the page.
This is good, the n00b level in here was starting to make me cry.

The rox kid was banned. xd After the page-stretchings, I saw that all he posted was the same thing in all caps over and over again so I banned him and I'm deleting any of his posts that I come across since they really didn't contribute anything at all (aside from headaches). I was really scared when I looked around and saw some of the posts here. gonk

One day I realized I'd been more or less absent for some time, then I came in and saw everyone all talking in n00b speak about the same exact topics... Thank you, I'm glad this issue has been addressed. There was one guy named "Billy the Goth" who's painfully a n00b, he actually caused a horizontal bar in some of the forums

I don't mind slang as long as it's accompanied by a general overall literacy. I've seen you posting around and I can say you have nothing to worry about.

Everything you need to know about being a mod (*glad I saved this from a PM* domokun ):
Basically what you'd get to do as a mod in the guild would be accepting or declining new members (which is based on their join request..if it's very noobish, then it's a decline). If the join request makes it hard to tell whether or not the person is going to act like an a** in the guild, then usually I try to check their posting history and/or Gaia journals to get an idea of how they express themselves and whether or not it will be constructive.
Other duties of being a mod are deleting repeat threads, deleting any noobish posts, banning any members who break the rules, and even some post editing if need be (for example, if someone ever posts an image that stretches the page, then instead of directly posting the image, you could go in to the post and change it so it's just a URL linking to the image..but that's just an example).. I've went in and edited posts/post titles before that messed up the spellings of words like "Irken" for example.
And of course there's also making sure Gaia's TOS is being followed. If for some reason there'd be any cybering being done in the guild, those threads would be deleted and the individuals involved would be banned. I haven't come across any violations of the TOS yet, but if it does happen in any way, I would also report that to an actual mod of Gaia.
I think that's basically all the mods do. There really haven't been any complaints of harassment or issues in the guild being sent via PM so I don't think there will be much of that.

Uh... reasons to choose me... ugg... well I'm probably as qualified as anyone else. I also hate noob speak and strecthy pages. My spelling is good.
