A lot of times when I decide to write poetry, I'll get a simple line, or an image, or a thought... And I'll build off of it. For this, the simple line "Rescue Me" kept repeating itself over and over and over again in my head... And it was extremely late at night. Usually, late at night, when I'm so tired, my mind will get a bit loopy and I guess it's easier for my hidden thoughts to reveal themselves when I'm so tired. That's when I do my best poetry writing... Anyway, so here's this poem... Rescue Me... ^^;
Rescue Me
Rescue me from nightmares I'm on the brink of falling Sweaty palms and unforeseen qualms I hear the voices calling
Rescue me from my despairs My head continues swimming With darkened thoughts and horrified hearts The light's forever dimming
Rescue me from evil It's swarming all around Leering eyes and telling lies As I'm lost and never found
Rescue me from tragedy That forever plagues my mind Unfulfilled goals and lost wandering souls Not welcomed by my kind
Rescue me from endless nights The monsters under my bed Self-righteous snorts and quick retorts Only found within my head
Rescue me from being caught The footsteps rushing at me An unwanted guest and fears manifest What's caught and never free
Rescue me from this horrid fear On me it's been bestowed An icy grip and chiseled chip Of a heart that's been erode
Rescue me from eternal sleep As it's slowly killing me The truth in lies and a true disguise That only you can see
Well, there's one poem from your captain here. ^^; Lemme know what you all think!! biggrin

Thank you! Man, took me forever to respond... But that has to be one of my favorite poems so far! I think it held a lot of hidden emotion and fears I didn't even realize I was carrying... Anyway, thanks for the compliments! biggrin

I'd say that I loved it. But that would be an understatement. This is a fantastic poem. Such marvelous imagery and such fascinating rhythm. This is truly a poem to remember, and belongs in our minds. Well done my friend, a work of art.
