"You know... in this city is steal or be stolen from!" *Fenris yelled back at his pursuers. They had been chasing him for at least ten mintues now. He was surprised that they could keep up.* "It's just diamond... what're they all riled up for?" *Fenris chuckled as he dodged a carpet salesmen and lept on top of a stack of wooden boxes and onto the roof of the closest building.* "Catch me if you can!"

*After jumping onto the roof the chase had lasted only another ten minutes. Fenris was now sitting in his... well, he called it home. It was a little cove on the outskirts of the city. Raithem was bordered on the east and south by ocean, and the city itself actually jutted out over the ocean, so there was a cliff face on the east and west edges of the city. Hence, Fenris' cave. He looked the diamond over, it was a very good diamond. Very high quality. Probably worth enough to buy food for a year... but Fenris just tossed it over his shoulder into the back of the cove, where the firelight didn't reach. The was a kind of "tinkle" noise when it landed, and that was the last of Fenris thought of the daimond. His fish was cooked, and it was time to eat.*

*Fenris threw the fish bones into the fire as he lay back on his big pillow. It was the only thing he had the worked as a bed. Since stealing a mattress was a pain, he just stole this huge pillow instead. The fish bones snapped under the heat of the flame.* "Man... nothing ever happens here... we need something interesting." *Fenris' life, since about the age of 7, when his parents died, had been the same. He was alone in the world, and the one thing he could do at that age was be a theif. He was small, even for his age, so finding a suitable hiding spot, and weaving and dodging between people was easy. So, now he lived as a thief. The only difference between his life at 7 and now, was that now, he was good. No one could out steal Fenris.* "Mmmmm..." *Fenris fell asleep bored and unsatisfied by his days work.*

*Fenris awoke to a seagull pecking at his nose. It took him a second to realiz what was happening before he sat up, and the seagull flew off.* "What time is it?" *Fenris sat up and moved to the entrance of the cave, he looked down, the sun was too bright to look at it, so he looked for his shadow. It fell to his left and stretched far.* "Eight... too early..." *Fenris returned to his cave, and grabbed a basket which was covered tightly with multiple clothes. He removed the clothe and took an Onion roll from the basket. He tore a piece off greatfully, and closed the basket, just as tighly.* "Startin' early today..."

*Fenris walks to the back of his cave, and shuffles some stuff around before producing two daggers, a grappling hook, and a lock pick set. He swung the rope onto his shoulder, belted his daggers to his waist, and slipped the lockpick set up his sleeve, and attached it to his forearm. (The kit was modeled after a leather bracer, for convienience.)* "All set!" *Fenris darted to the front of the cave, and looked up. He had painted an arrow at the top of the cliff face, so that he'd know where to throw the grappling hook. He had made the toss so many times, that is was beyond unecessary to gauge the throw. He unslung the grappling hook swung it once, twice, three times, each time swinging it harder and faster, and he let it go. It flew past the arrow and made a "clunk" kind of noise as it caught it's anchor. Fenris grabbed hold of the rope and clambered up it as fast a squirrel.*

*Fenris finished wrapping up the rope and hid it in the usual bush. Once it was tucked away safetly he breathed heavily and let his arms relax at his sides. Then he made his way towards the main street of Raithem.* "Some breakfast first I think.... the fruit tent today..." *Fenris entered the street from a back alley, it was unusually slow this morning in the street. Fenris sighed.* "Not alot of cover this morning... maybe I just won't steal anything..." *Fenris turned right and walked along the road. Reaching into his pocket he pulls out a gold ring, looks at it, smiles, and returns it to his pocket.* "That oughta pay for the fruit.... yeah, more than enough." *Fenris sped up a little bit and added a bounce to his step. As he drew nearer to the fuirt stand he pondered what it'd be like to pay for something for a change. He figured he'd feel normal, if that was even a feeling.*
*Fenris stopped at the front of the fruit quiosk, waiting for the owners reaction to his prescence, but the owner knew better.* "Good morning Fenris. Does being up early make you bolder? Or maybe slower?" *Fenris produced the gold ring again and tossed it to the man.* "Could I have a mango please?" *The man gawked at Fenris.* "What th' hell is this? Are you paying me? Well I'll be damned, it's real too...." *The man gathered himself, putting away his surprise. He grabbed the best looking Mango from the pile and handed it to Fenris.* "Here ya go kid. Have a... good day..." *Tha man shook himself and eturned to insoecting fruit.* *Fenris accepted the Mango.* "Thank you." *Fenris turned and walked away. That had been dull and boring much more so than his regular thefts. He decided that he'd stay away from paying for what he wanted. After all, stickin' with what you know is always the best bet. He took a bite out of the mango, and let a drop of juice run down his chin.*

*Fenris continued to walk down the narrow alleyway, trying to think of something worth his while to do. He wiped the mango juice from his chin with his hand. It was sticky, an unpleasant, but he didn't care.* "God damn this is lame..." *He almost felt angry with himself, for being so good at what he did. But what was the point in that? He surveyed the scene before hims as he left the alleyway, same bustling people, selling the same wares. Same level of annoying noise. Except... Fenris noticed someone he had never seen before. Or rather, he noticed the glint of something shiny, and by what his deductive skills could tell, gold. This piqued his interest. He decided to follow the boy, but a a safe distance.*

*After following the boy for quite some time, Fenris decided to break away from him. Nothing interesting was happening, and he was sure that whatever it was that the man carried was not nearly as valuable as even some of his lesser trinkets.* "Now... where am I exactly?" Fenris looked around. He was in the northern part of the trade district.* "Maybe I'll stop by Dim's." *Fenris headed east, towards Dim's.*

Fenris stopped beneath a large wooden sign hanging above a doorway. It read, "Burning Candle Tavern." It was loud inside, he could hear the noise down the street. Fenris pushed through the wooden double doors and made his way to the bar. A few people glanced in his direction then began whispering amongst themselves, but most of the patrons of the tavern paid him no mind. He took a seat at the bar and ordered a glass of cranberry juice.
"Anything I should know about, Dim?"
The bartender was a wealth of knowledge in this town, and he owed Fenris more then a few favors.

*Before Dim could say anything however, the doors of the tavern swung open a second time. Edgar stepped through the doorway and closed the door behind him. Again the people glanced toward the door but quickly turned back to their ales. Edgar approached the bar and sat in the seat next to Fenris.*
"Dim give me the usual."
"Ed. How are you? How are things going for you at the shop?"
"Oh the same as always. Just finished putting together a bike for my cousin. He should be coming to pick it up in a day or two."
*Edgar realized that he was probably intruding on a conversation already in progress. He turned to the boy sitting next to him.*
"Well hello there young lad. What brings you out to these parts?"

*Fenris almost choked on his cranberry juice at the man's words. He lowered his glass to the bar and turned to look at the man.*
"I... You sir may have just dealt the single largest blow to my ego in the history of my life."
*Fenris waited a few moments before speaking again. He swirled his cranberry juice around in it's glass.*
"You can call me Fenris."
*Fenris leans closer to the man.*
"I happen to be the best theif in all of Raithem, but don't tell anyone."
*Fenris takes a sip of his cranberry juice and returns to silence.* *Dim lets out a small chuckle.*

"A thief are you? Well you don't mind if I double check me wallet do you?"
*Edgar chuckles at his own words as Dim places a wooden tankard on the table. Edgar takes a large gulp of mead and slams the cup back down. He lets out a very loud belch*
"Oh boy Dim, you really outdid yourself today. Mighty fine mead."
*He turns again to the Fenris. He notices the rope hanging over the man's shoulder.*
"You know, I do recall a rather large piece of rope disappearing from my shed not more than a week ago. Now you wouldn't have had anything to do with that would you laddie?"

Fenris let out a guffaw at the man's words.
"No sir, I wouldn't. This rope is one I made with my own hands quite a long time ago. I don't generally steal from sheds anyway, nothing of great importance would be kept in one."
*Fenris thought for a moment.*
"... And if something important were kept in a shed, I would know about it. Also, I don't steal rope."
*Fenris took another sip of his cranberry juice.*
"I don't mean to insult you, but how did you not know who I am if you live in this town? I know I try to keep a low profile, but I didn't think I was that good at it."
