... Do you roll with them?
I'm rather curious. I have this class at my school for writing, which personally I thought was going to be far more interesting but that's not the point, and I had to write a story about, well, anything! So I put it off and that morning I wrote a story about snowball fights. Only 'cause it was snowing and stuff.
But onto my point.

When you get a crazy idea for a story, do you write it? I mean, my experience was a 'I need to do this' experience, but people get the point, hopefully.
Anyway, before I continue ranting, I will ask again.
When you get crazy ideas...
... Do you roll with them?

Oh, and, I'm back! <33

Usually, yeah, but I don't often get really crazy ideas. I don't just start writing, though. Most of the time I obsess and mull it over, creating something more solid to work with. And after thinking about it a lot, I get excited to get it down and have fun with it.

...Of course, later I realize the plot still has gaping holes in it, but that comes together later. whee

What exactly do you define as a 'crazy idea'? sweatdrop
For me, if I have an idea, then I ALWAYS try and roll with it, no matter how 'crazy' it might seem. But at the time, I usually don't realize how crazy it is until a year or so later when I'm going through my documents to try and find a story that I can't remember the title of or something else like that. Then I read through it and kind of go 'what was I thinking?'

If it's crazy, it's probably interesting, and that makes a good writing time, and a good read. I ALWAYS go with the crazy ideas.

Of course, I write any idea I get, especially the crazy ones. Sometimes the crazy ideas end up being the best stories, sometimes they get a bit more sane as you're writing them and sometimes it's just a crazy story which can be fun to write.

I pound them out by hand VERY quickly and in a funky script so noone will ever be able to read them unless I translate it for them. biggrin

I don't write entire stories based off of crazy ideas, but I do get quite a few crazy ideas and occasionally use them. Mostly though, I try to keep my stories serious (but then characters like Rio write themselves and can never get a half serious moment in).
