I'm a big fan of this saga and I thought we could discuss about it here. If you've ever played any of the wonderful games from it, you might agree with me that this has to be one of the coolest videogame series ever made. I'm gonna come back in a while to share with you some of my experiences while playing some of these games. Care to share in the mean time?

Ah yes, Super CV 4 for the SNES was awesome! I still don't understand why they didn't keep the whip as versatile as it was there. Clinging on to special rings with the whip was AMAZING! I felt like Indiana Jones while playing that. For me, it wasn't so tough. I found CV: Dracula X for the SNES to be the toughest one. Say Hanpieta, which CV for the DS do you have? There are now 2, you know... The first one is Dawn of Sorrow and it's the sequel to Aria of Sorrow for the GBA. The most recent one is Portrait of Ruin and it takes place during World War 2. I love this one cuz it has a lot of stuff that makes it quite unique. So, doesn't anyone else have to say anything about the subject?

I'm a huge castlevania buff. It's the greatest thing to ever happen. Plain and simple. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance was the first one I played all the way through, and after that it was Aria of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, then Portrait of Ruin. I didn't like the older ones very much, except for Castlevania: Bloodlines. That game was awesome.

My goodness Emerald charm, I'm liking you more each day! Which has been yer all time favorite? For me, it has to be the first CV to have RPG elements, even though it was tough as heck. I'm talking about CV 2: Simon's Quest. I know this one can be a pain in the arse for some CV players but I actually enjoyed it. True, it may have had lil to no story and the ending could have been better but, it was probably the NES and the programmers fault. My least favorite is definitely the first one for the NES. No story, even tougher than the second one (impossible to finish for me) and super lousy graphics. I know graphs don't make a game but still... I also disliked Circle of the Moon cuz of the game play (Nathan's jump was a bit ridiculous, not to mention his way of handling the whip). I also disliked the story cuz it makes no sense of how The Baldwin family got the whip when it is clearly mentioned in Portrait of Ruin how Richter passed it on to the Morris family (not to mention how Jonathan had to fight the whip's memory and Nathan did not). The graphics on Circle were lousy as well. I thought I was playing a Game Boy Color game instead of a GBA one. Just compare it's graphics to the ones from Harmony or even Aria and you'll see my point. Aria has the best graphics out of all the GBA games (CV of course). Another thing I disliked was that the DSS system cuz some combinations were kinda silly (a combo that increases intelligence?); that and the only way to get a couple of cards was to get in a battle arena. Which, was amazingly difficult and the enemies in there didn't release their cards the first time around. I'm not saying this is a bad game, no. I'm just saying there were a bunch of things that made me fall out of love with it. Ok, I'm gonna stop here or I'm probably gonna bore everyone to tears. I'm jealous you managed to play Bloodlines...

Emulation? No thanks! I rather see the game re-released somewhere. I can only hope...
You know, I found Harmony to be a lot tougher than Dawn. I got lost a lot of times on Harmony's castle while on Dawn's castle, I explored at my leisure. I felt it was so much easier for some reason... rolleyes If you keep getting lost you should try looking at the maps they have on gameFAQs (www.gamefaqs.com). That always helps me out! 3nodding

That, or look at the maps on the game. I get lost all the time too. The in game maps help alot also, as it shows you where you've been, and sometimes where to go. The castles are supposedly supposed to be about 70+ stories with nearly 7000 rooms. <(Not proven yet. I just got bored and started counting rooms.)
Also, Emulation is one of the only ways to play games, as after some time, they stop making them, raising there cost value and rarity.

I agree, the in game maps are a lot of help. Sometimes though, one can get lost just as well and it helps even more to look at map guides. You can always see items you can get at certain locations and other helpful things in those. And you know what? I think that with Nintendo's Virtual Console, emulation might become a thing of the past. Not that I'm sure mind you, but still... rolleyes

Nah, emulation's still gonna be around for the people who dont want to pay for Wii Points to download the games. Other than that, most nintendo emulation will stop. (The only ones that will continue are PSX, unusable emulators -i.e. Wii, Xbox, PS2, PS3, Xbox360, maybe the PSP-, Handhelds and Japan-only games -translated, mind you-).
