In the past 18 months, I have had 5 ovarian cysts.
The problem is I don't know I have one until it ruptures. When it ruptures, the fluid inside spreads all over the inside of my abdominal cavity, irritating my internal organs, and causing pain so bad, I can't even stand up straight. By the time I get to the emergency room, no one can feel anything or see anything on ultrasound.
I do not want to take hormones to fix this. Hormones only cause more problems for me, given past experience. (Think head-exploding migraine the day before my period) I seriously just want to have a hysterectomy and get it over with. The pain is so debilitating I am usually non-functional for at least 3 days, unless I take some sort of narcotic pain medicine. I have a young child. I don't want to be stoned in order to take care of her during this time. Besides, when I'm on pain meds, I can't drive, so that also limits my ability to parent, to a certain degree.
So, how do I convince a physician I am truly having these, so the problem can be realistically treated?

It's good to hear someone had a hysterectomy due to this problem. I'm going to make an appointment with my OB/GYN and get on this. The last one was a month ago, and I am not looking forward to it happening again.

If it has to go...... Be gone....... Trust me,, we can live without the damned things... cheese_whine
