they didnt use to be allowed to advertise prescription drugs but now you see more ads for that than for beer or...other essentials of life, like cars.
i believe this encourages people to wheedle their MD to get drugs they don't need.
also, all those ads drive up the cost of the medicine, and take away from research and development.
so i wish they would stop the ads, like it used to be.
