I've always hated to hear people say how dead or slow the guild seemed... But now I'm saying it myself. I don't know if everyone's just busy busy or if they've just stopped coming. Apart from the regulars of the old CAHs, none of the members seem to stop by. There's lots of members but most of them have never posted.

So what am I getting at? Well, someone's got to take charge on this and how better than the guild captain?

I'm actually considering closing the guild or at least changing it to something different. I don't -want- to but what's the point of keeping around a dying guild? I wouldn't mind going back to the thread in Barton Town but the guild's just not cutting it anymore.

So I need to here your honest opinions on this. If you care enough, please reply and let's talk about this. I don't want this to be all my decision.

Sad to say, but I agree with you, Sunny. This guild has died. I don't want to get rid of it, though. Maybe if we made it a thread again it would be more popular? I'm not sure. I think we ought to make a thread for the CAH, and if it becomes more popular than the guild, we can change the guild to something different. If that doesn't seem to work....well, I'm not sure what else there is to do except close the guild down, which would be a real shame. I love this guild, and I want the best for it. I just don't know what that is. sweatdrop

I don't mind having it as a thread again. I think with the guild, there was just too much going on. The CAH was always simple and as a thread it seemed to get more visitors.

I don't like seeing the CAH go either but just leaving it here dead just doesn't feel right. sad

Indeed...
(Though I REALLY shouldn't talk about people being on more~)

It seemed that alot of people appeared, talked about and the Like when the CAH was simply a Thread.
But I have also noticed that during the holiday threads... not many people were around...
Or were on at the same time...

But it seems alittle bit better to go...
Well back to the basics...

It's not just CAH but alot of guilds are dying or have bought it lately

I could understand the school year/semester coming to an end and people needing their attentions there...but the guild's been dead-ish for much longer. Yes, with the thread we had more people coming in. I guess with the guild, we're sort of hidden away and no one knows we're here. Keeps some noobs out...but it's not worth the death of the CAH.

And if anyone's worried about drama and noobs, we can use the mule in which a few regulars will have access to it (or just me, doesn't matter) so the ignore list can be put to use.

Would it be possible to have a thread for a few months and then re-open the guild? Or do they get deleted from inactivity?

I think it would be really sad if we had to close the guild sad , I know i havent been here very long, but maybe we could find a way to get more members or increase activation? Also i do think that the time of year lends to things. School years are coming to an end (and for anyone in uni (i know i feel this way) there are so many things to pay attention to, that its possible to kinda post less. Maybe if there were a way to revive the guild without closing it? I'm trying to think of something but I'm not entirely sure how... all i know is that i think it would be so disheartening and really quite sad to see the guild go, I just love it so much.... I also wanted to mention that i dont think that it is only this guild that is slow, i've noticed it happens amongst other guilds too... a lot.

But what's the point in coming back to the guild? We had the thread for a long time but when switching to the guild, everything slowed. Now it's barely alive. Do we really want that to happen again? And no, they don't get deleted for any reason.

And we've been trying to revive the guild in some ways. We tried the secret santa thing. We would have had a newsletter if the feature to PM multiple people was still up. Thing is, no one's paying attention to any of it. When I set up the newsletter thing, only two people friended the mule. Two. And we've got how many members in this guild? I did mention the whole school thing taking up time but I also said that even during unbusy times, the guild's still pretty deserted.

I'm sorry but I'm not seeing a point to this guild anymore. We've tried several things but no one's paying attention. Unless someone has a super amazing idea to get the members back in here, the guild will probably just have to shut down and be made into something different.

I was once thinking of putting together some sort of association with an agreement of sorts to advertise the other member's guilds in their own.

And to revive a single guild, have the remaining members of a guild send messages to the inactive members to remind them that the guild still exists. Surprisingly, inactivity can be attributed to sheer forgetfulness, genuinely forgeting about a guild due to a period of inactivity, I've done it a few times myself and several people in my own guild have claimed the same.

Gryphon has some good ideas. I was saying that if we have a thread for a few months, we'll attract people, get them interested enought to be regulars then after we have a good amount of regulars we could reopen the guild with the new recruits.

Well, if you guys think you can revive the guild then give it a shot. I just don't want it to have to fall on me and the mods to try and send PMs out or contact other guilds or whatever. If yall want to put together a list of things we could do and who could do them then let's give it a shot.

I would really hate to lose this group, though im rarely here you are all great people. Im trying my best to come back more frequently but as i said in my response in the commons a few minutes ago i've been working on a new routine with school and work. On top of that im rarely active anywhere but PMs on gaia which makes me ashamed slightly, I'd love to be included in any large scale RPs or atleast give it a shot but id need someone to help me remember sometimes sweatdrop We all get caught in other things sometimes.

But in my opinion the CAH was far more successful as a thread rather then a guild.

I haven't been around when the transition was done from thread to guild, but I must say I always preferred the thread and things weren't the same when the guild appeared. I'd gladly come back to the thread if one would be created now, but I can't say exactly why the guild didn't work out.

Maybe, on the other hand, the thread could be some kind of advertisement for the guild. At first, if it works as a thread, we would enjoy it and then it might revive the guild if people are having fun and post more often. Then random people would be curious and join the thread, and would want to join the guild.

So maybe at first a thread could be created without deleting the guild, then as it goes you can decide later.

Well, earlier when we were debating to go back to a thread, I was for it, and I still am. There's a pretty noticable difference in activity between a guild and a thread. I suppose forums are an easier way to get people, and guilds are kinda hidden away.

So I think what I'm trying to say is "yes" to being a thread. I really really don't want to close the guild, though. If the thread does become popular again, then the guild could act as a fanclub or something. To those who stick around the thread often can join the guild for extra funstuffs with "the gang", but still be active in the thread. The only problem I can see with it is that it may be difficult to divide the attention between them well enough, so maybe it's not the best idea...

For the "Make a thread for a few months" idea, it could just be a big circle. Open thread, get people, people join guild, close thread, guild people become unactive. Well, it worked once, why not do it again? In the end, I feel like we're just wasting alot of threads. sweatdrop

((Also, I am SO deeply sorry for contributing to the unactiveness. sad I could toss out 400 excuses, but none of them will make up for it. I really miss the CAHG.))
