((Things should start at the beginning, I suppose.))

A green planet, a lush planet, a planet bursting with possibilities and new trade. Near the poles life remained much as it had been for thousands of years, deeply entrenched in the religion of the land. Harsh and unforgiving, the cold deserts of the poles offered little assistance to those people who chose to reside there; people became as hard and cold as the landscape around them, isolated from the people of warmer climes. The people of the far north and south managed to capture and eventually tame a species of large, six-legged, long haired dog-like creatures, allowing them to cover huge distances in a short time. The dogs are raised much as horses were on Earth, though somewhat more carefully as they are still extremely savage beasts toward anyone but their chosen riders.

In contrast, beyond the edge of the glaciers lay a paradise. Plants grew in abundance, animals thrived and multiplied without outside hindrance, and the people were able to live easily. Farming was not needed, as large stretches of plain grew edible grains without any help and the forests and jungles provided an over abundance of fruits and nuts. The people of the plains tamed huge scaled beasts early on in their stay, turning it into a tradition not unlike the great horses of the nomadic Earth tribes. The forests were peopled by a small lot of people who chose to live in groups of one or two, tiny family units having no need of others outside themselves except during the great spring festivals. The jungles were full of large tree villages, some containing hundreds of people and stretching for miles in every direction.

The peoples of every clime come together every ten Rains for a great festival exactly at the equator, though it might be noted that the tribes of the poles often keep a little bit apart from the rest.

Technology developed slowly, but surely, allowing the peoples of warm climes similar luxuries to that of other planets; the only difference being these people still managed to keep from harming the nature around them, instead building their technology to complement the terrain.

The people only recently having realized the full extent of the vast universe beyond their doorstep, Saem Prime was totally fresh and new. Few from any Vampyre or Lycan clan had gone to Saem for more than a quick visit, perhaps to investigate the occasional rumor of odd power spikes and people with strange new abilities popping up from time to time.

Being so new to the general workings of the universe, it was the perfect place to put a council so that nobody already had a territorial foothold. What better place to begin a story of such political upheaval, no?

((Gin said I could go ahead and work up some things, since her brain's overloaded with some other nonsense. Of course it's Gin's brain, so it's not very hard to fill up...oops, better stop now before she hurts me.))
((Had to move this, lovely. Gin, make up your mind about postage placement! Yeesh.))

The bright noon sun was shining on the largest city of the plains, the soft brown walls reflecting minimal light to keep from blinding the inhabitants. This time of day, everyone was relaxing in the shade of many awnings or the air conditioned rooms of the great skyscrapers, still made of the same gentle brown as the smaller buildings.

The main activity was centered in the very middle of the city, the large central square where the main market opened every day before dawn and closed well after the setting of the last moon.

Kumani wandered the narrow alleys between the largest buildings bordering the central square, bored out of her mind. She'd told the Lady Silver that she wouldn't stay for the Council meeting, but she knew she wouldn't be able to stay away. Not with the position she was in. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she entered the darkest shadows just outside the square, eyes half open behind obscuring sunglasses as she watched the hustle and bustle of the market before her.

So many of them, and yet I am not seen. After four thousand years, I should be totally used to this. Invisibility, anonymity, totally unnoticed. Just once, once I'd like someone to just look my way and smile. Or even scream and run, but something besides this absolute ignorance of my existance! Something....

The Vampyre sighed again and shook herself out of her thoughts, knowing they would only lead to dangerous activities later in the day. She simply stood there, leaning against the warm stucco wall, watching the people of the planet go about their business. She'd been there for three days now, and the seemingly random flow of people was beginning to take on a pattern.

He's going for fish...she's heading for her husband's stall to help with the repairs...he's coming back from lunch...so typical. So completely and totally typical.

William sat at a cafe sipping tea, watching the occasional passerby from behind his dark glasses. Anyone who had the right mind to take a closer look could see that his eyes glowed a golden amber color. He caught the scent of something familiar yet ancient. Peering over towards a nearby alley, he shifted into a relaxed position and studied her carefully.

Kumani paused in her scanning of the crowds when one of her earrings warmed slightly, allerting her to the presence of another otherKind. She moved only slightly, seemingly to adjust her position against the slightly prickly wall, and glanced toward one of the cafes lining one side of the square.

There...sunglasses, tea, hm...hard build...according to Silver, that's DeMontegue. Hm...ah, were-leopard.

The vampyre nodded slightly in the other's direction, pushing off from the wall into an easy, full body stretch that emphasized her lack of weaponry.

Wonder what he's doing here?

William noted the stretch, and smiled. "I love it when women do that, it lets me see their full figure." Removing his sunglasses, he stared intensely at Kumani, his eyes speaking for him. "Good day, my little vampire, what brings you here?"

Kumani managed not to twitch at the "little" comment, but just barely. She seemed to glide a bit as she walked, but there was a very slight swagger that said she knew exactly what she could do if she put her mind to it. Settling herself in a chair across from the feline Lycanthrope, the girl took off her sunglasses and rubbed her eyes.

"Nothing to speak of, DeMontegue. Just looking for a place to be, that's all. So what brings you down here with all the commoners, hm?"

William put his glasses back on and settled back into his chair. "Oh just the usual. Watching the mortals scuttle about. Figuring out which one of the young ladies to take home for the night. You looked a little forlorn over there, as if you were a little lonely. Don't like being unnoticed by the mortals do we?"

Kumani shifted her hands slightly and flipped the probably older man off, but he was the only one able to see the gesture. With a flick of her hand the sunglasses were once more obscuring her vivid eyes and she sat back a bit, yawning. Her fangs were retracted at the moment.

"Couldn't really care either way, really. It's just a bit annoying, that's all."

William smiled. "Feisty, I like that. I might just have to take you home for the night. Kumani we weren't meant to be noticed. We are just here to enjoy ourselves and toy with the mortals. Or that is at least why I am here."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:20 am

Kumani tilted her head to the side, her mouth forming a very slight smirk. Her tone didn't match her expression, though. It seemed a bit more restrained, as if she was trying to match her expression but she didn't mean it.

"Well, aren't you a lucky one then. Care to explain how you know my given name? I was under the impression from the great bat upstairs that I'm not very well known among the clans."

William slid his glasses down to his nose and stared into her eyes. "It's my eyes, my dear. I have power beyond anything you could dream of. I am quite ancient, I am the last of my line." His eyes swirled like amber pools of desire. "The things I have seen and done are mere drops of water in the river of time."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:36 am

"Ah, then I am still a youngling in the eyes of all. Nice to know."

Kumani sat back and crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair to look up at the slightly greenish sky. She could see some of the planet's small aircraft flying high above the skyscrapers, hear the soft conversations around her. But she chose to ignore the faint new scent coming from the main across from her, she knew better than that.

Were-leopard, yeah. I'm a snack.

William slid his glases back up. "But you have great potential in you. Don't let anyone tell you different." The scent had caught his attention, but if it were anyone foolish enough to attack him in open ground didn't know him very well. "Who do you think our new guest is?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:46 am

"Knowing my luck? One of my brats."

Kumani chuckled softly and looked over the older man's shoulder, at a crowd of people herding large ox-like creatures through the square. Her eyes caught a glint of metal in the push of furry bodies, and sighed. When she spoke again, her lips hardly moved.

"Incoming, looks to be one of the 'pure' Slayers. Annoying."

William leaned forward, keeping his attention on Kumani. "We have nothing to fear, my dear. If they are foolish enough to attack us here in the open, he will die quickly. Such a bother, I will have to find another place to find my entertainment for ths evening."
