Don't you hate it when once a band becomes popular, the old "fans" go like, "UGH, THEY'RE SO MAINSTREAM AND POPULAR NOW, I DON'T LIKE THEM." To me, that's just so stupid, i mean, That's what they're supposed to become, right? You should be HAPPY that people like them and that they've come a long way.
Geez, what is wrong with teh people?

Yeah, it's annoying, but it's kind of the cycle. Elitist pricks find a band, band gets big, elitists denounce band. The music doesn't change, but I guess it boosts an indie kid's self esteem? If they denounce a band for being mainstream, then they're not in it for the music, they're in it for the scene points.

~i never say quite what i mean... Amen.
My friend is like that, too. "Oh, they're so mainstream now. I need to find a new band to like."
No, you keep liking the first band and continue to support them when they acheive their dreams. Seriously, bands will never say no to airtime and promotion. ...and never mean quite what i say~

seriously i understand that. but bands sound do change ALOT when they go mainstream because they have to appeal to all their new fans who wouldn've given a look at their old album before they were famous. It's easy to say well I first bought From under the cork tree, and i liked take this to your grave, but face facts everyone isn't like that

I don't get that. I mean, I know people who did that with both Fall Out Boy and Panic! and I'm just sitting there thinking about how much less respect I have for them now.
Now...I start not liking the teenies that pollute the merch lines at the concerts, but that's a different subject entirely.

++ Sorry if there's another thread on this. sweatdrop Yes. They are very annoying. Like the people who hate Fall Out Boy JUST BECAUSE they are mainstream now. And the people who used to love Green Day, then Hated them once "American Idiot" came out. Ughh......they annoy me. But Ashley Simpson and Pete Wentz annoy me though. But not Fall Out Boy! heart

I TOTALLY AGREE. That bothers me SO MUCH.
I always talk to kids that are all like, "I liked Panic! At The Disco's old music, before they got big." And I'm just like, "Dude. They only have one album."

This is how it ends x x
Damn, I know exactly what you mean!
Last year, I got all of my friends into Panic! At the Disco. We were, seriously, huge fans. Then, this year, one of my friends says to me, "You know, I don't like Panic! At the Disco anymore. They're too mainstream for me." Meanwhile, she listens to s**t like Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. Who the ******** are you calling mainstream?
@ emobell: I HATE PETE WENTZ TOO. HE'S A ******** PRETTY-BOY.

It gets extremely annoying when everywhere I look I see flamers for Fall Out Boy and P!ATD just because they're more popular now. Jeez. People change. They need to get over it.

I have friends like that. They strive to be SO different that they give up what they otherwise love. I cannot stand that. I have my own style, and sometimes I'll leave a band, but never for that reason. I like a lot of unknown bands, but I also love very famous bands. People need to get over the fact that other people in this world DO infact like the same bands as them.

ehh but it happens..
i mean the reason why these kids b***h is cause theyve known about fob for a while, and when some kid, who knows nothing about the band, poses to love em, thats when people like us get pissed. we dont want to abandon the boys of fall out boy ):
s**t i dont.

Yeah, when a band that I like gets popular and mainstream I still like them and support them, but it's really frusterating when a song from them gets played EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE knows it and then all of a sudden you've got people going 'LOLZ I LOVE FALL OUT BOY! THNKS FR TH MMRS IS TEH BEST SONG EVURR'. (bad example becuase Fall Out Boy has had other popular songs on the radio but you get what I mean)
