why won't it let you? 0o
Only reason I could think of is the layer you're on is the background layer and it is locked.
Layer -> New -> Layer from Background.

When all the world turns away to leave you lonely Legit has nothing to do with you not knowing anything about TRANPARENCIES. 1. This is like the only thing marginally right. 2. Transparency. And lowering the OPACITY of a layer, lowers the opacity of, well, the entire layer. Which isn't going to make the bg transparent. It's going to make EVERYTHING transparent. And 50% transparent is still halfway, well, there. 3. jpgs don't allow transparency. It's gifs and pngs. :/

1. Make sure it's in RGB. If it's in indexed colour, go to Image>Mode>RGB. If it's in Bitmap, make a new RGB image, and drag the colour layers to the RGB doc. 2. Make a new layer. It should be transparent by defualt, but if it's white or whatever, reduce the opacity to zero. Delete the background layer (If you haven't already), and make this your bottom layer. 3.Go to File>Save As..., then pick PNG. The transparency box should be checked by defualt, but tick it if it's not.
As for cutting out an image with a white background, you have to go through and do that by hand. I use the magnetic Lasso to cut it out, or just select the white area and fix any mistakes its made by hand if I'm feeling lazy.
Your results may vary. I'm using CS 3 Beta 2.011.6B, so it may be different.

It's actually because of your disclaimer that I got so upset. You may have not read the first sentence in my post. Y'know the whole "Legit has nothing to do with you not knowing anything about TRANPARENCIES." part? Yeah, that. I highly doubt anyone here has legit photoshop, except maybe Takazawa 'cause cs3's a public beta, but that's besides the point since, it's, well. A beta. Anyway, regardless or not if you have a cracked/bootlegged Photoshop does not impact the way things work. It might impact how often they work, but definately not how. Setting opacity and/or transparency is EXACTLY the same. And you know what? I find that you bragging about your not-legit version of photoshop is rude and plain unnessacary(sp). Don't help if you don't know how, kthx.

Even if she isnt the best help because she isnt positive how to do it, its the thought that counts.
Your attitude towards Sin lately is horrible. First the GM thing, then that thread, that you knew was mean, now getting on her back for her trying to be a nice person. Stop picking on her. Seriously, if you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all. This is a warning.
If I see you bothering Sin one more time you'll get a temp ban.

Do you call it solitude? Do you call it liberty?OH THATS EASY!!! The images are on diffrent layers right? Well, asuming that, know your best friend the magic wond tool? using that, on the layer that the text is on, click the black part and then cut When all the world turns away to leave you lonely

*sighs* This is such an easy task...
Here's how you do it.
First off, make the Backround layer go away, make it invisible. Then, Take the Magic-wand tool and set it to "Anti-Aliased" and make sure the "Contagasious" (Not sure if I spelt that right) box is NOT checked. On the two laters, click where there is black, and then press the Delete button on the keyboard. Do this for both, and now it is transparent. Go File --> Save for Web --> PNG or GIF, and check the "Transparancy" check box.
Taaadaaa.
... Man, Sin beat me to it. xD Oh well.

Meo might be right, but I thought that simply deleting the background layer would make it...not black? mad D When I use photoshop I always make a layer for a background because I'm ocd. XD
I probably have the least legit copy of photoshop here. My dad got it in china for 6$. xd rofl
