General Information

As far as qualifications to say I know what I know: I have done literally years of research, as well as had MANY undeniable experiences that seem to prove my research. I am christian, but, I'm not one of those christians. I believe in angels AND demons. many people seem to believe in just one or the other, or even niether! one cannot exist without the other because demons WERE angels, so by acknowledging the existance of one, you acknowledge the existance of both. (unless you do not believe in the fall from grace) I have actually SEEN demons, and heard them, and the experiences cannot be exlained away as ANYTHING else. I am a firm believer that the bible is the word of God, though it is misused/ misquoted often enough. well, let me know your opinions, ask me any questions, and I will be pleased to answer them.

Okay, here is a BRIEF summary of my research. Any ideas that are my original theories, I will state as such. Please if you want to quote this post, break it apart or just quote a single category.

Section 1: What are angels and Demons?

What are angels? Simply put, angels are divine beings. They are God's messengers and servants; in fact, the Hebrew for angel is 'messenger'. The Greek "Angelos" also means angel or messenger. What they are and their roles are quite a bit more complicated than that, though. What are demons? Demons are angels who, through sin, are no longer divine. They cannot be forgiven, as humans can, because they had an understanding of God and the universe, and sinned anyways. We have no such knowledge, therefore, we can make mistakes without fully understanding the consequences, and can be forgiven because of this.
*I will get into the difference between demons and devils later on, for now, consider demon a 'blanket term' that covers both of them.

Section 2: What do they do/ look like?

What do angels do/ look like? Angels are the protectors of the faithful and the innocent, as well as the dealers in divine retribution. They have a variety of tasks, which include maintaining order in the universe, and aiding in the worship of God. They have a variety of forms and sizes, but when they appear to us visibly, they tend to look human, with some fantastic quality or striking look, like seeming to glow or even be scary. Angels supposedly number in the millionsor billions. What do demons do/ look like? Demons corrupt, spread lies and hate, dominate, and endeavor to destroy when ever they can. This is like trying to hurt God because he hurt them (even though he was justified in doing so). Hurting us to hurt God: Humans are God's greatest creation, which he loves very dearly. Any corruption or destruction against that which God loves, is for that purpose. Demons have a variety of forms and sizes, just as angels do, but they have no physical forms (those were destroyed when they fell). When they appear they try to take on a pleasing form, usually. They sometimes show their true forms to frighten people. In that form they look like a large, vaguely human shaped shadow, with claws, and glowing eyes. (yes, I have seen them). It is believed that one-third of the angels became demons. (See Revelation)

Section 3: Historical, and specific angels and demons.

There are only two angels mentioned by name in the bible: Michael, who’s name means ‘Who is like God?’(yes his name is a question); and Gabriel, who’s name means ‘Hero of God’. Michael is the general of the armies of heaven, and fights Lucifer (Satan) at every turn. He showed up on the battlefield a couple of times in the old testament, to aid God’s people. He appeared to a catholic monk, and that monk later built St. Michael’s cathedral on that same location. Michael is also thought to be the angel who appeared with and entire regiment on horseback and helped win a decisive battle against the Nazis in WWII, and vanished after the battle, only leaving the allied troops he rescued. Gabriel is more of a messenger. He is the angel who appeared to Mary to tell her about Jesus, he appeared as the star to guide the wise men to Bethlehem, and he was the one who rolled away the stone from Jesus’ tomb. He is also considered to be the angel of death, although that is a role shared by many angels. Michael and Gabriel together were the angels to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. There were others not mentioned by name, but referred to as “the angel of the lord”. Raphiel, who healed Jacob after his fight with the mysterious being or 'dark angel'; and Uriel, who is thought to be an angel of punishment, and may have brought the great flood. He probably was the one gaurding eden with his flaming sword.
There are several demons of note: Lucifer (of course), meaning ‘morning star’ was his name as an angel, when he fell, it became Satan; meaning ‘obstacle’. This is who we refer to as the devil. He was the most beautiful of angels, and became vain and hateful; he wanted more and more, and he was cast out of heaven. He is known as the lord of lies and deceit. Michael throws him out of heaven in Revelation. Azazel: Azazel spread forbidden knowledge to corrupt humanity; he spread metallurgy, weapons, cosmetics, and jewelry. It was his influence that caused humans to become so evil, that God destroyed them with the great flood. He was imprisoned in a desert somewhere so could no longer influence humanity, he must remain there until judgment day. Belial: Is a demon who had a strong following in early parts of the old testament, and his followers were called the sons of Belial. The prophet/ judge, Samson killed many sons of Belial. Belial also means ‘worthless’. One more of note is Beelzebub: Name means lord of flies. Also called Baal or Baalzebub. The Baal worshipers were the largest opposing religion to Judaism at the time. The prophet Elijah challenged the followers of Baal, saying that their God could work no wonders. For 2 days, prophets of Baal prayed for him to light the alter with his powers. Then Elijah soaked his alter to God with water, prayed one prayer, and fire from heaven consumed the alter, stones and all.

Section 4: Miscellaneous and angelic script/ sigils.

The angelic scripts are a complicated language, very similar to Hebrew. The characters can be translated to Hebrew, and subsequently, to other languages, but we do not know how to pronounce them in angelic. Each angel and demon has its own sigil, and most of them are very complex. Symbols you might know: The ankh, or Egyptian cross is at the center of the sigil of Lucifer. The eye, the Egyptian one called the eye of Horus, also used by the Illuminati, is the eye of Lucifer, it is also a part of his sigil. Many of the Egyptian gods were actually demons. The pentagram is a sign of Wicca or of witchcraft, and the upside down pentagram (point down) is the symbol of Satanism. Please note that ‘The Da Vinci Code’ had innumerable errors in it, especially relating to the symbols (they changed the painting so peter would look like a girl; in the original, he has a beard!) So please no comments on that movie, unless you want to start a new thread on it.

Where is it in the bible?

Angels...
Angels in the Bible have a habit of starting conversations with such phrases as "Do not be afraid ..." (Luke 1:13 & Luke 1:29 to name two...) Angels aren't pretty young motherly looking women or fat little cherubs. They invoke fear or awe. Demons are likewise so, but it is easier to control somone through deception than fear.

Purpose of angels? Primarily to serve in heaven (Revelation 8-9) and to act as spiritual warriors of God (Revelation 12:7-12).
As far as interaction with humans in concerned, they assist people (Genesis 24), protect people (Psalm 91:11-13), execute judgement (Matthew 13:24-50 & Revelation 14:17-16:21), and deliver messages (Isaiah 6, Matthew 1:20-24, Luke 1:26-38, 2:8-25).

A small note: Satan quotes scripture. He quotes Psalm 91:12 when tryig to tempt Jesus in Matthew 4:6

Demons...
One of the most fearsome abilities is the ability to possess someone.
Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:1-17, Luke 8:26-37, Acts

Some instances of supernatural abilities com from posession (Acts 16:16-19)

And are never to be trusted.(Timothy 4:1-10)

Satan is the so-called father of lies after all...

Just though I'd provide a few biblical refrences on the subject...

References of faith...
In other mindsets...

Most the current angelic heirachies and such are based off of concepts of zoroastrian religion, which is questionable at best, as well as being a practice explicitly forbidden in the Bible. (Hebrews 1-2) One the other hand, several other concepts come from the Tanakh. (Hebrew bible: Torah, Nevim, and Ketuvim) It's pretty much the old testament in a different order with a few changes.(Wow. I can think of a few people that would be really torqued at me for sayin that one...) But in my opinion it is pretty much the most reliable source to look for about angels and demons... so... Let's get cracking...

The ancient understanding of angels is that they were heavenly being created by God, some of them having free will. Upon the advent of (somewhat) modern text based on Judaic principals, angels have no free will, and being only servants of God. (This is a tad questionable being as Lucifer and many other angels went against God. It is moreso to say that they are not to be forgiven in way such as humans are, something that is touched on frequently and really seems to give Satan a fit.)

The angels actual named in post-judism are Gabriel and Michael (book of Daniel), Raphael (book of Todbit), Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and Jerahmeel (book of Enoch). The angel known as Metatron (the one in revelations 1:10 with one foot on the sea and one on the sand that forbid John to write down what he had heard. (My guess to the actual name of the angle never being stated is that a True Name is important and not to be taken lightly, in most cases a name known only to God and possibly the owner)

As far as demons go...
Satan (Mark 1:13), Beelzebub (Mark 3:22), and Abbadon/Apollyon (Revelation 9:11)

Heirchies and stuff...
There are a bunch of established types of angels and demons, as well as different classes... I may touch on that at some later date if the need arises...

Semi-biblical refrences...
There's plenty of stuff on the topic, like Joanes Weirus's "De praetistigiis" hypothesizing that there are 7,451,926 in 111 legions of 6666 demons rules by 72 princes... Interesting, yet questionable at best... More on these later...

Purely fiction refrences...
The Divine Comedy series (Dante Aligheri), most anything by C.S. Lewis (except for the Space Trilogy and Narnia of course...), Paradise Lost/Regained... Things that are fun to read and have good insight, but (as the authors make clear) nothing else. Unfortunately, people have a habit of quoteing such things as gospel...

The difference Between Devils and Demons

Okay, it can be complicated telling the difference from meeting/ seeing one, though the difference is fairly simple:

Devil = Fallen Angel
Devil = Immortal (has nothing to do with life span, they just cannot be permanently destroyed)
Devil = Very powerful

Demon = Negative energy creature or automoton
Demon = Not immortal (still nothing to do with life span)
Demon = From very weak all the way up to powerful, never as strong as a devil, however

To be more specific:
Devils comprise one-third of the original population of angels which fell from grace when they choose to follow lucifer instead of God. Demons can be created with negative energy or with chaos energy. They are like negative energy golems, under the control of their masters, and can show up in VERY LARGE numbers. Devils usually appear alone or in small groups. To actually encounter a large number of devils is extremely rare unless you walk into hell itself. Demons even account for quite a few supposed hauntings. With devils, this is the rarest of the rare and I only know of two modern occurences of a devilish haunting; paranormal researchers and ghost hunters coined the term 'malevolent inhuman entity' to describe these hauntings.

Testimonials and experiences

LainGaara
Now for those of you who say angels and demons do not exist and if they do I want proof. Well i'm gonna give it to ya!

Firstly, I want to mention that I used to be like those others on how can such beings exist, I also thought that they were just some made up thing or just a deep subconscious thing in everyone's head to make sense of it all when I was not Christian; at the time and I was Agnostic. For those who don’t know what Agnostics are, they are people who believe somewhere, there is some kind of higher being but don’t know what that is and so they search for the answers or are open to other ideas of god(s). which I did do and search for the answer by studying pretty much almost every religion. Had a huge fascination as kid on the Egyptian mythology along with Greek and Roman mythology which were pretty much the same in a way. Then I went on to others such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Native American religion and many others until I cam across the Christian and Jewish faith. Now you might think im crazy but I love to learn and understand things, studying is a hobby of mine so I am bent on finding and understanding everything and also what is truth. Which I did and became Christian because my findings made sense with everything and I could’t find anything to be false it was truth all the way. Now to get deeper into this i'll be talking about personal things, weather you believe me or not I don’t care but so far many believe it, Christian and non-Christian alike.

I come from a broken family (who hasn’t), and it started when I was 3. At the time I was Christian as a child but all the stuff that was happening I lost faith and became Agnostic at, I believe, age 6 or 7. The whole time I studied other religions and cultures to make sense of all that was happening to me and around me. Later, when I was Christian I found out why bad stuff was happening to me and bad things happening in the world and other people; God's other gift to us which he will never take away from us is Free will. People’s actions God will not control because of Free will. their decisions make people's actions influenced by Demons and also Angel's/God's influence, but we decide which one to listen and act upon. Though at the time when I was not Christian I didn’t know that demons were influencing me and angels too until later.

How the demons influence me…boy, this will take awhile but i'll give it to you so hopefully you will believe. Four times, maybe more, (but I can only remember four times) Lucifer approached me in my dreams. Now remember I was not Christian at the time. And during the first visit I was very young and I did not know it was Lucifer until later on in my life but the two other visits I knew. I don’t know how but the second time I saw him and I was probably 16 or 17 years old, I knew who it was and it was him. In my dream (I wont get into too much detail, just PM me and ill give you details) I was shocked that I could know who it is and also to have seen him, Lucifer! What he tried doing which he has tried before in my first encounter was to be with him, join him, yadda, yadda, yadda. Can’t remember all of it because I was ignoring everything he said and panicked in my dream. As I was still dreaming my father and I were being attacked, Lucifer blacked-mailed me into being with him or my father will be hurt. And I went along, bad move. I woke up disturbed in a cold sweat shaking uncontrollably trying to make sense on what just happened.

Now even when I was not Christian I was told to have Christian values, I wanted to be good no matter what but I still wasn’t sure about the Christian faith, things I saw on how Christians are bothered me and found that some aren’t actually true Christians because they weren’t sticking to the teachings which made me stand clear from joining; I didn’t want to be a hypocrite. And I still couldn’t believe it to be real or true after that because as some say on here, I thought it was just deep in my psyche, and it was just some nightmare. But wait, it happened again this time different but Lucifer was there again in his same appearance as I remember last. (I bet your wondering what he looks like) i'll try to explain what he looks like when I saw him those three times in my dreams, I remember it clearly, when I was between 16-19 years old. (everyone might have different ideas on his appearance but remember, Lucifer and his followers can take any shape or form to suit their interests. This being lucifers true form, I don’t know.)

He was tall, dark, and handsome; in detail, he was gorgeous. Long black hair to his shoulders, pale skin, wears a black suit. His eyes gave him away, they were pitch black, and his smile, that evil grin he always gives me when I saw him. It haunts me to this day. The third time I saw him he tried doing that same crap to me, saying sweet nothings in my ear while I panicked again and tried desperately to get away and ignore him. In the dream (ask for more details on it) I was in a rave somewhere in the dark full of people dressed in devil outfits and skeleton outfits like it was halloween, they all looked possessed or something and that’s where I saw him again, lucifer. When I was trying to get away all the people in the rave turned to me and tried grabbing me, I tried to break free, saw a light from above, I knew it was from God or something and I tried to go towards it but I couldn’t, everyone was grabbing me and kept me away from it, I tried my hardest to get to the light but it was dimming, I looked over to where Lucifer was standing and he just stood there giving me that same evil grin and telling me in my head “your mine". the light disappeared and I was engulfed in darkness and all I could hear was Lucifer laughing and the people around me grabbing me hissing in laughter. Again, I woke up I a cold sweat, shaking uncontrollably again, very disturbed. But again I just let it pass thinking it was just a nightmare, my mind playing with me again. I told my father, a Christian, about it and he thought it was a message to me to be saved and delivered soon before its too late. I didn’t take him seriously.

The fourth time I met him, then, I had become Christian not too long ago, converted last year in the end of October, baptized and delivered on in the same day in November. Attacked a lot during that time, Lucifer didn’t want to let me go and he showed it when he came again in my dream. This time he wasn’t smiling, he was extemely pissed! And boy that was even scarier! Very disturbed to see him again, I wasn’t planning on actually ever seeing him again after I converted but boy was I wrong! And that’s when it hit me, “this really IS REAL!” I thought to myself. God and everything I have studied proves this! When I saw lucifer the fourth time again, I was like, “oooh NO! NOT AGAIN, NOT YOU AGAIN!” and I tried to get out of this dream as soon as possible! First I tried running away which didn’t work because when I didn’t get far and when I looked he was right in front of me in an instant! He grabbed me and held me close to him and kept saying to me in my ear: “YOU’RE MINE! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MINE! I WILL NOT LET YOU GO! YOU HEAR ME!? I WON’T! I WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING!” then he took the image of my bf and said quietly and smiling sweetly to me: “I will give you everything… ill care for you always and forever, no one can take you away from me… i promise you” and many other things that I tried to ignore. As I should mention, I really love my bf, the second sentence of what Lucifer said to me is what he says to me a lot. My bf is the one who converted me into Christianity, he helped me also to understand. So what lucifer did was a low blow on me and it disturbed me beyond anything! I tried to wake up and Lucifer, at the time I didn’t know until later, had me imagine that I was waking up, waking up my bf to help me. And I thought I was waking him up and he wasn’t and I was panicking, really panicking! Then I finally woke up scared stiff, finding myself that I havent moved an inch to actually wake my bf up! I panicked hoping it was just lucifers trick on me and I turned so fast and grabbed my bf, could barely even speak, trying to scream to him to wake up! He finally did and assured me im okay, im safe now, lucifer cant get me; but I thought otherwise. And I was shaken all over again, and grabbed him, I couldn’t stand the thought or feeling of being alone with myself and had my bf hold me the whole night. It took me a long while to go to sleep because I was afraid he would come after me again. And let me tell you, I was VERY frightened to be alone after a long while, from November of 05”, took me until next year of spring 06” to get over it.

On with the angels… ^_^ I have encountered an angel, one, when I was 5 or 6. And at the time I also didn’t know it was an angel until last year. Also who the angel was, the name and all that, I also found out last year. (details on who the angel is, you’ll have to PM if your still curious to know. Otherwise I wont mention it on any of the posts in gaiaonline.) the angel which I nicknamed wolf, taught me those Christian values I have when I was not Christian in the past. He answered all my questions, ones people couldn’t answer and I trusted him more than anyone else. Because of him, i'm still here. If your wondering what I mean, I suffered three types of depression: manic, bipolar, and major depression which I have been healed from and do not suffer it anymore since the day I was baptized. I self-mutilated (found out later that is a sin.) and tried to commit suicide several times. Thankfully I didn’t die. And look where I am now, saved, protected this whole time even when I didn’t believe, guided, not suffering depression, and living a lot happier! ^_^ oh! One time I tried to commit suicide, I thought I was hallucinating when really I was seeing demons. They appeared to be this black shadow and they were surrounding me. When I saw such a sight I was scared witless but thought it was just a hallucination. Man was I wrong, it was REAL! Glad I didn’t know THAT at the time or I would have been screaming and running like crazy out into the streets! But anyways, about the angel encounter was the most greatest, and powerful feeling! It was soooo Wonderful! I couldn’t get enough of the feeling of the happiness, this at-peace feeling I had when I was with him that I loved it so much, I went to go visit him everyday! In my dreams I would go see him. And how I met him the first time was an out of body experience. Where I was, was like heaven to me, so Beautiful! And later found out that what I saw, that place I was in with wolf was heaven! ^_^ (details on this and the angel, just PM me about it and ill be Gladly to share it with you. Remember, wolf is just a nickname I gave to the angel, it is NOT his real, actual name! so don’t confuse it to be lucifer because its not! And how I know this is because of the angels teachings he gave me which are the EXACT OPPOSITE of what lucifer would say or do!)

Now you can believe all this or not, I really don’t care. Because all im trying to do is help others believe that God and Lucifer ARE REAL! That angels and demons DO EXIST! Thank you for reading. Any questions or more info on this, just ask by PMing me. God Bless! <3 and I hope you find your way out of the evil in this world and seek the Truth that many do, in your journeys. mrgreen

Oh a couple of adds. Demons aren't immortal, likewise, as someone has already stated. They die all the time (i.e. Lilim), so they can be killed imo.

In Jewish tradtions, there are myths of King Solomon and David using demons. According to these tradtions (ala Midrash) God gave domain for mankind to use demons, however if the man were to sin, then the demons have domain over him and are allowed to do nasty things to this person. This is what was said happened to David, who was deathly afraid of demons towards the end.

Bottom line sin = cause for someone to be subjected to demons. However, I do not think this is always the case, I believe they will tempt and attack non-sinners just as well, that is, that this is just one of the causes for demonic attack. Also, most of the stories the people involved had prior involvement with using demons so...

I'd like to add that given the origins of Lucifer (doesn't mean there aren't spirits/demons that claim to be such) its merely a poetic name for the morningstar and a minor deity in Rome. The passage in Isa. is a result of misinterpetation by Christians. (Its impossible for Lucifer to exist during that time that passage was written anyway, because the Hebrews had no contact w/ the Romans.) And then with church rivalies sprung up, (some of them named Lucifer) people started using this to mean Satan. Intrestingly, Satan or Ha Satan is just a title that means "accuser" or "adversery" and he in the OT always acts in accordance with God, he never fell. I don't consider Lucifer to be Satan, and I do like some Luciferinists and Satanist, think they are seperate entities.

In Jewish tradtions they indentified Satan as the angel of death, Samael, who still is not a fallen angel, but an archangel. But anyways, anybody can be Satan given that its a title that can be applied to anything & the OT Satan is just unamed angel. I do want to note this, (Because Samael in Kabbalah is not called "evil" by his nature, but because he desires to seek intimacy with things not of his nature, i.e. sin and demons.) Samael and Satan are consdiered enemies of mankind but not of God. Theres many passages where God sends Samael out to kill sinners (hence Sam's nick of "severity of God".), but he never actually falls or sins. Its because of these and similar traditions where we have come to indentify the serpent in Eden with Samael/Satan, but he is still not a "sinner" per se. And Samael's name means "poisen/venom of God", get it? I thought this is important in case someone runs across Samael (even if they don't believe he is Satan.), he is still a "enemy" of mankind and a seducer, accuser, (sound familer?) and destroyer, just not an enemy of God. And hes not truely evil. Hes also the patron of the sinful empire of Rome, true father of Cain, and patron of Esau. This all goes back to Samael being "attracted" to sin and for him sin = death, because he is an excutionar of the Lord.

Ok I thought this would be relevent to this section. rofl So I wanted to add it. Samael would be under the "angels" section, but he IS an enemy of man (As Moses stated) so I want to note that out of the main archangels (all 7 of 'em) Sam is the one to WATCH OUT for. Btw according to w/e differeing traditions, hes got some other angels from the same class that oppose him, Metatron, Michael, Sandalphon, Gabriel, and I would suggest if you ever run into him, is to use Michael aginst him, cuz Michael is his oppisote and defender of mankind or Gabriel. Metatron is like the top angel, but he seems impersonal to me.

I recommend the Qu'ran's interpretation of angels just for information as well as the Biblical explanation and everything else mentioned here. I had to read an English translation for a world religions class online and my topic (they divided up verses on certain subjects into headings on one site) was Angels (surprisingly... at least I didn't get Allah, that section was HUGE). The Islamic view of angels is fairly interesting, though with what I knew from this tutorial and other various info sources, it didn't surprise me one bit. I just think it's interesting the fact that the readings set aside mentioned pretty much everything we know angels have done and several misconceptions are debunked.
