I'm just calling my story right now The Real Pax Theorin Story since I don't know what to call it yet, I added the real because this is my second draft. It's a fantasy story so if you don't like that genre sorry. Well here's the prologue: (I'm sorry for the length)
Prologue:
1,000 years ago
A lightly lit room with a worn down, circular, large oak table is placed in the center. A small chandelier with little candles is the only source of light. There are two dirty long windows that would shed more light in if the sun was still up. By the windows is a small, oak, square table with a matching chair.
Noise bellowed from beyond the dark room’s thick wooden doors. The door open and five people come in prattling amongst them while one stays quiet and heads to the small table by the widow. His name is Peter Langwelig, he is to write what happens in the meeting and all the conversation.
The other four, two women and two men, take a seat at one of the chairs at the round table. One female, Kate Marcus, has on a simple burgundy frock with ivory skin and long brunette hair. She sat at the chair closest to the door and next to her was Reginald White. Reginald looked more proper and a little fancier with a long black coat, a tunic and a loose neck tie. Reginald also had a large freckle under his right eye which signified that he was a wizard. Next to Reginald was Leaf Kosmokos, she was one of the first elven born people. Leaf had, of course pointed ears, and muted brown skin with shimmering emerald eyes. Leaf sat the chair closest to the window and Peter. Next to Leaf, the last male in the room was George Denali, he didn’t look like it but was in fact one of the first born geniuses, only about fifteen born at the time. George had on a baggy eggshell shirt and a dragging coat with a impossibly small forehead.
“So it is true, Reginald?” Kate asked curiously while looking what seemed to be Reginald’s eyes. Reginald chuckled.
“Yes, most males have it under their right eye while women have it usually under their left. That’s how we know when witches or wizards are born.” Reginald smiled brightly and Leaf spoke up.
“Langwelig, you are to write down all the conversation for our future children to hear when the decision is made. And Reginald how did you come up with the names witch and wizard?” Leaf looked sternly with questioning eyes at Reginald.
“Well the letters come from all the first men and women born. I was included, I am the R. My brother, Ichabod, is the I before me. How did you come up with elve, Leaf?” Regianld just stared at her with the same expression as Leaf’s.
“That’s what the tree’s told us to call ourselves. Since you know that we can talk to nature too than just do magic like you.” Leaf spitted out the last part, like you, like it was a bad taste in her mouth. Reginald sensed it.
“You have such a marvelous opinion Why not make the decision your self Arcadia?” Leaf glared at Reginald, Arcadia was her birth name but changed her name when she found out she could talk to trees.
“Fine, Augustus ” That was Regianld’s birth name too, buit changed it since he found his wand.
“Arcadia ”
“Augustus ”
“Arcadia ”
“Augustus ”
“Shut it Now you to, we are here on important business, and I know you have been cooped up with your children but don’t act like them We all represent a new kind of let’s say Paxin, well not really Kate and I, what should we do about the problem?” George finally scolded Leaf and Reginald, Kate looked glad someone did.
“Now, let’s state the problem. Kate.” George’s voice was almost monotonous.
“Well I have heard that humans outside of Pax Theorin gather up men and practice fighting to battle people. Imagine if those kind of people found out about the elves or wizards? There would be total craziness and not to mention we would lose on our sorry arses ” Kate heard these stories from hanging around pubs, in pubs you get travelers that journey or at least tried to go outside Pax Theorin Normally traveler’s stories are the truth, it’s a proven fact.
“True, so what are you saying Kate? Where would Pax Theorin go? Underground?” Reginald said underground like he was crazy to think that.
“Precisely.” George said in his most monotone voice. Reginald didn’t buy it though, he looked like he was going to be hauled off to the loony house and the rest of the three looked like they said nothing unusual. The writer didn’t even look up in amazement, Reginald wondered, was this a joke?
“What you mean? I was kidding?” Reginald said curtly. Leaf sighed out of frustration and began speaking with a tinge of annoyance to Reginald.
“I was talking to the earth the other day with my children, the earth said that the ground under us if you dig low enough is reachable. The only problem is that down the line people might get to face more troubling things than if we were to stay up here.”
“This was straight from the horse’s mouth, in this case from the Earth so it’s trustworthy.” Kate said defiantly to Reginald. Kate began thinking, just because he can do magic doesn’t make him a king
“George? You? You cannot believe this, this blasphemy ”Reginald stood on the tip of the table with his hand stretched on the table so hard it hurt.
“Don’t hurt yourself;, calm down the plan is fool proof. I got all the elves to join. George’s geniuses find the plan logical so they want it and Kate is talking to all the women and explaining about it and they are beginning to understand. You do remember that women have the sam rights as men do, without us Reggie you are nothing ”Leaf proclaimed, she loved calling Reginald Reggie, it was so much spiteful fun. Who cares if she is a grown woman.
“Looks like I do not have a choice but to go along with it, or we could take a lot of our men and fight when the buggers come. We have magic ” Reginald’s voice sang when he reminded the people in the room. Leaf looked horrified.
“Disgraceful, Reginald White Our magic is not for killing or torturing people Even if they threaten us bodily harm.” Leaf’s voice calmed and turned melodious “To think of such a thing, men.” George sighed, he knew she really didn’t mean the geniuses, or did she? You never knew with elves.
Reginald and Leaf never gotten along together, actually they were born in the same house and are related. You would never know since elvish appearances are always the same, the same skin and pointed ears with barely a color difference since either you had brown, green or deep colors of those, barely in between.
Reginald sighed heavily, he has been outnumbered and defeated. One more trick up his sleeve.
“Send out the Polls.” Reginald said smugly. Leaf just glared at him from the tone of his voice.
Every town, anywhere a Paxin lived from the age of ten. The saying “Everyone has a voice’ really meant literally everyone had a voice since everyone voted on almost everything. Also Nevaeh is the biggest city of Pax Theorin, half of their population alone lives in the city.
“Good decision. Send it find out to Nevaeh then to every village or town outward. Reginald, hwy so happy though?” Kate ordered, she wondered about Reginald. Reginald was a bit slippery and unpredictable, even more with him being able to do magic and have so much power.
“Do not worry yourselves about it.” Reginald said slyly reassuring. He slipped his hand in his coat where his stick is.
“Do not pull that out on me Reginald White. Put the stick back.” It seemed like Kate has read his mind, at least that was Reginald thought. He pulled out his hand fro his coat and put both on the table.
“Lets get the polls ready and end this meeting.” George added in qiuetly but everyone heard and mumbled in agreement.
It took a month to get the polls ready and eight months for the polls to be voted and come back. The two decisions is Move Elsewhere From Other Humans, Non Paxins; or Fight. Twenty five percent chose Fight, majority rules so then there was the largest Paxin gathering in all time. All Paxins were gathering at the center of Nevaeh. At this meeting George, the rest of the geniuses and the first five born elves explained the plan and it’s foolproofness. Everyone believed since the Earth does not lie and the geniuses are smart and would say otherwise if not true.
After two years of preparing and moving Pax Theorin was totally underground. Reginald commanded some wizards to make sunlight down under so that they could grow crops and live like they did above ground. And everything went smoothly for 1000 years. All sicknesses and diseases were cured and life was made easy, you even could have flavored meat food, since all Paxins needed to be vegetarians since they didn’t bring any animals down.
Where Pax Theorin used to be located is now called Greenland is part of the country Denmark. Nowadays Pax Theorin Most elves lived alone, they dissapeared from human and wizarding eye. The only elves around humans were the ones born from a human.
The government of Pax Theorin decided to make up three laws that no Paxin can break.
1. Never go above ground unless on June 7th and you need to be a wizard. (June 7th is the time that witch/wizarding children go up to ‘Greenland’ and pick a stick of a tree from a tree from Greenland.)
2. Never be seen by a Non-Paxin Human, or Upper Land Human.
3. Never get into contact or touch a Non-Paxin Human or Upper Land Human.
By this day and age Pax Theorin had never had any difficulties with living underground but now a terrible disease will spread rapidly that cannot be cured by Paxin hands. This is where our story begins.
Can you tell me how it is? The story does take place in this time but I wanted to make this prologue. Constructive Critisism is greatly appreciated!
