I so for played only the .hack//Gu and I like it. It was a little easy, but I just wanted to the storyline anyway. My cousin played the games before .hack//Gu and he said there were pretty good.

iv played and beaten all and i like g.u. the most so far its darker and i dont know if you can tell but i like dark things

I haven't played .hack//GU yet, but it doesn't appeal that much to me. I like The World R:1, better than R:2.

The original ones. I like The World R:1 alot better than the new version.

Original FTW.
The storyline seems a lot more involved, and the characters seem more developed. Also, if you are new to the whole .hack experience I suggest playing the first games before GU. Not only will it keep the storyline straight for you, but it will also be a lot more exciting IMO.

Over all The Original, but
The game play it self is more fun in G.U, it's also way to easy.
I do like Kite alot more than Haseo, but G.U's plot line is darker.
AIDA fight secenes bore me.

to me the first series was better in the way that i liked the ties to sign but GU is also good its a tie really a die hard fan like me finds it hard to choose ill wait for redemption

I like the first one but the G.U. as a better gameplay. Thats my opinion but their both awsome games to me.

I like G.U. best. For many reasons.
1. deep story line.
2. Better gameplay. -not saying the first was bad, it was jsut set up better in G.U.-
3. The 8 Phases didnt look retarded as hell.
4. Everything that happen in it is actully possable. -dont understand PM me and I can explane-
5. Better graphics.
6. The online offline setup.
7. //ROOTS is what got me into .hack and when ep 26 came on tv and the next week they didnt show it, I was pissed because I thought it got cancled. And then I found out about //G.U. and how it takes place pretty much hte very second //ROOTS ends so yeah...
