Alrighty there, thus far I have only heard interest from Dark Embrace as to wanting to be involved in a game, but I'm looking to start one. It would be my first game DMed online, and ought to be a good experiance for all, if I do my job right. We're not formal here (not yet at least stare ) so feel free to jump on in. Here's the basics:

-This first game will be from the Dungeons and Dragons basic game (not the latest one, but the one beforehand). If you have this game, I would ask you to please not metagame. I won't ask you to walk into what you know is a trap without checking first, but please don't have your charecter walk the wall because you know what's in a room.

-All dice rolls should be made with an online dice roller, if you need to find one or figure out how it works, tell me and I will provide you with one.

-For those who know how, you can make a charecter using a 28-point buy, or you may use the floating re-roll method (roll 4d6 six times, disregarding the lowest number; you may re-roll the lowest die once during this entire process)

-The following books are allowed, as I have them. Others may be allowed on a case-to-case basic (in other words, ask me, and I'll see what I can do). Players Handbook 3.5, Monster Manual 3.5, Dungeon Masters Guide 3.5, Draconomicon, Races of the Dragon, Dragon Magic, Complete Mage. I may also some allow material from Savage Species or Tome and Blood despite the fact that they are 3.0 sourcebooks.

-Roleplaying is encouraged, but not required.

-Gameplay will follow a Play-by-Post basis. What this means is that you should post when you can, but there will be no scheduled gameplay everyday, so you do not have to worry about missing a "session." Just whenever you have time during the day go on and post a reply. As Sir Sephra stated, 2-3 times a week is a usual precident. If you are going on vacation or for some other reason, that is fine, although it would be nice if you post this information so the others (hopefully there will be others) can accomidate.

Alright, sorry if that sounded like a rules-happy post, but I just wanted to lay down the basics before we began. In case it's not clear, this is to a be a one-time adventure meant to take a group of 4-6 1st level charecters to second level. Another game may or may not follow. Whip up a sheet and post it here. If you need help making one or have any other questions, feel free to give me a holler and I'd be more than willing to help. Hope to see you all here soon biggrin

Ahh, thank you all for your interest, the game will be starting shortly (translation, when I get the time to type a proper intro. Sorry, todays a little busy.) Seeing as both of you are what could be classified as "monsterous" heros, perhaps you would like to establish some sort of backstory in which they know each other? Its up to you, and I leave you to take care of all the details such as you may desire.

Not at all, though we will be starting shortly. The ECL for this adventure is one (make a level one charecter). We currently have two fighter-types: A centaur, and a half-giant barbarian. I welcome any new submissions, and I'll get this game rolling soon. Glad to have you aboard.

Well, that's a good charecter that you've got there Marcus, but there's a major flaw with him. A pixie has what is called a "level adjustment" of +4. Which means you take his levels and add 4 to them to get his "effective charecter level," so you really have a 5th level charecter there. I would ask that if you wish to play this campain, you either make a new charecter, or custom-make a pixie that would be LA +0 to be approved by me (rather like darkembrace's centaur; I'm open to new things). Alternatively, there is the thread just above this one where a 5th level adventure is going on and you could enter him in that.

Take note of the Wand of Olidammara, in equipment. I can leave it behind if you want. you're the DM. Also, this will be my first game ever actually, so forgive me if I do something wrong.

Actually don't take note of it. There never was a wand. NEVER!

More about Rettu :

When Rettu was just a boy, he was not known by the confrontational name he wears today. He does not go by his old name now. In his village, a cult worshipping Nerull; God of Death, appeared. The mayor of that village was but a spoiled son, who had come inot power because of the untimely death of his father. He allowed the cult to take root, in return for large taxes taken from the donations. But soon, the cult grew into a temple, and drew more and more followers of evil. One day, chaos simply broke loose. As the cult turned its fury on all in the village, Rettu watched his family butchered by goblins. Rettu wandered into the forest and was found by an elderly ranger. The ranger tended his wounds and Rettu told him his story. After He was sufficiently healed, the ranger made to go to his own devices, but Rettu followed, demanding that the ranger show him the ways of battle. After a time, the ranger relented, and until the day that ranger died, he taught him all he knew. At his 110th birthday, Rettu wandered back into town and saw once again the destruction. he picked his way through the rubble, and found the old ruins of the temple of Nerull. Inside a glowing dark presence promised him, if he proved himself a greater champion of evil than the high priest that ordered the destruction of his town, that he should be given great power and glory. Rettu told the glowing presence to stick it up its arse, and attempted to join the order of Olidammara just to spite it. After hearing his reason for attempting to join the order, the high priest of Olidammara laughed and let him join.

Rettu fights with a bow, reasoning that the farther away the enemy, the better.

(Hete challenges Rettu because he stole his wallet)
DM: Hete the Paladin challenges you to a duel, saying "I will vanquish you evildoer! Hete is 60ft away.
Rettu: I shoot him in the eye!
DM: ... *dice roll*... Critical hit... Have you no honour?
Rettu: Nope, but now I've got a shiny Paladin sword!

Rettu also has quite a collection of shiny paladin swords.

Rettu is prone to minor acts of charity, for example, he will always give a coin to a beggar in the street, He is a realist, but has a good sense of humour. For Example:

DM: (After entering the temple of knowledges final chamber) You see a wizened old monk. He says "If you desire knowledge from this temple, you must first give up some knowledge of your own.
Rettu: Him who eat many prunes, sit on privy, many moons.
DM: The old man boots you up the arse.

Rettu has defined the word "b*****d" as someone who tells people what he thinks, no matter what they think, and only insults people when it is deserved. For example:

DM: The high priest of Wee Jas appears in a glorious wreath of black fire
Rettu: What a stupid hat.
DM: Due to your unprecedented reaction, the priest fails his concentration check and the gate spell he was using backfired, taking him into another plane.
Rettu: Hey! He left behind his hat! Score!

Rettu is an incorrigible flirt, often prone to acts of perversity, despite his average charisma level. For example

DM: You see a beautiful female drow, dressed in a battlemages clothes.
Rettu: I feel her up!
DM: ... That's got to provoke an attack of opportunity.
Rettu: Nope, I've got improved perverts strike!
DM: I hate you.

DM: You see a ninja drop down from a rooftop.
Rettu: Is it a female ninja?
DM: ... I'm not allowed to tell you.
Rettu: I walk over to the ninja and say; "Hey gorgeous"
DM: The ninja slaps you upside the head.
Rettu: Definitely female.

(female) Guard: I arrest you in the name of the law.
Rettu: Are you a parking ticket? You've got fine written all over you.
Guard: ... I wonder if I kill you, if I'll get an aquital.
Rettu: Only if it's a female judge.
Guard: For honour! *charges*
Rettu: For my libido! *retreats*

A monk of chance, has described Rettu's chance of getting laid at about 1: 1,367,300. However, Rettu hits on about 1,258,392,234 women a month, so he does have some children he plans to spend his old age with. And so that leads to this.

3000 years later

Vera looked outside of her spaceship, where something strange was happening on the wing. She looked at her friend and co-pilot, Rine.
Vera put her head on her hands.
Vera: Is he still dancing?
Rine: Yes. From what I can see, it's a cmpletely perfect copy of the line dance made 1500 years ago, called "the hustle". In a space-suit.
Rettu VIIIL: Do the hustle!
Vera: ... Give me that remote control.
Rine: What is it?
Vera: It electrifies the hull
Rine: ... Is that nesscasary?
Vera: Yes. He's been hitting on me for two years.

20 minutes later

Rettu emerges from the airlock into his own ship, smoking, with his hair on end. Sparks occasionally jump from him.
Rettu VIIIL: Hooray!
Tull VIIL: Hooray? You got your a** sizzled!
Rettu VIIIL: Didn't you see? She used one megavolt less than normal!
Tull VIIL: ...

Maybe one day, he'll get her. Maybe one day. Probably not though.
Rettu has all his posessions carried by his pack mule (Whom he calls Alice), excepting his armour, weapons, arrows and 1 torch.

Ok, for your first time, that's not altogether a bad charecter sheet. There are a couple of flaws that we have to take care of first though. First question for you is: what edition are you using? It seems that there are a couple of consistant errors that could be accounted for with familiarity to the 2.0 system (or even another roleplaying game). Secondly, a "wand of olidimara" tells me nothing. With the 3.5 system, the naming of wands is more like "A wand of (insert a single spell name here)" because a wand can only cast one spell. Given that the least expensive wand also costs 375 gold, this also puts the wand way out of your price range. If you really want to keep it, just for the connection to Olidimara, I'd be willing to make it an intelligent (albeit worthless) item that likes to poke fun with you, or, more often, at you.

Heres a list of what you need to fix:

-There are no fear, horror, or madness checks in 3.5 DnD. All of these are specific kinds of will saves, and are covered under the will save heading.

-I notice that you have listed certain skills more than once (craft and perform). If you are not going to put any ranks into these, then please delete all but the first one. These are skills that you can use "untrained," or without a skill point in, and they get a stat modifier (in this case, int and wis respectively). I don't need to know that the 5th one is a +0, I can just look at your stats and riddle it out if I need to.

-Also on craft and performs, if you are going to put ranks in one of these, then you need to choose a specific area to train in. For example, under craft you would have to choose if you are trained in, say, alchamy, blacksmithing, armor-crafting, bowyer, etc. while perform can be anything like dancing, singing, (musical instrument), etc.

-You need to select a type of favored enemy for your ranger. Given your backstory, I would highly recomend the favored enemy Humanoid:goblins.

-There is some confusion on your weights that needs to be adjusted for as well. Your arrows should actually weight two pound per twenty arrows, and thus only 20 lbs. Your backpack should weigh 2 pounds, your bedroll should be 5 pounds, your firewood should be 20 pounds, flint and steel weighs nothing, and I think that's it.

-Be sure to figure out if you want to ditch or modify the wand.

And after that, you should be good. The list above may seem a little daunting, but it's really just a bunch of minor changes. After that, I can safely say welcome aboard, and good to have you. I'm going to wait a day or two to see if bludrgn0 is going to try to submit another charecter before getting the ball rolling.

Well, I generated this character on an online D&D character generator, and pretty much just pasted it in, so I'll correct the flaws you mentioned. Also, I would very much like to keep the wand, as the purpose you mentioned was its original one, but I must have neglected to put it in background. I am using PH1 V 3.5. Also, I did put favoured enemy: Goblins. I was sure that it was there sweatdrop I'll go through it again.

Edit:Also, I checked and I did remove the skills which I had no training in and could not be used untrained.

Yes, I know. We seem to have a misunderstanding here, and I'll try to clarify. You currently have something of 5 profession skills, all with a +0 modifier because you haven't put ranks into them. I am saying that because of the infinate scope of professions you could do, there is no need to list the whole five. A simple proffession 2 would suffice, as that gives the untrained value of any proffesion you want, and so the others really just eat up space. It's no big deal, just something thats bugging me. If you still don't quite get it, just leave it and I'll learn to live with it. Odds are I've put my DM's through far worse biggrin

Other than that, it looks great!

alright then, then I'll change it. If a skill is not listed there then it means it has a 0 modifier then.
