  Kiefer's mane ruffled lightly as the wind blew. It was a cold day for the season, but mostly because of the wind. He watched the grass that streched on forever ripple.
It had been a while since Kiefer had met any family member. In fact, not since he had grown. It made him sad, remembering the promise he made to hsi grandmother that they would go and find all of his relatives, he knew there were alot.
He went over the names in his mind for a moment. Too many to remember, with six cousins five blood aunts and uncles, plus two had mates. And then of course his grandparents. How could a stallion remember it all?
Well, maybe one day he would meet some of them, but how would he know who they were?

A mare walked along softly, her head down deep in thought about her family. Her sons and her daughter. She didn't know where they were but then again it didn't matter too much to her. She knew Bes was happy with Christabel and she knew that the other two would never like to be mothered, the kalona blood ran strong in their veins.
She hadn't seen much of her family, the last she saw was her brother and his daughter who seemed so playful and ever so happy. It brought a smile to her face remembering the meeting, Bes would make a good father one day, he seemed so good with youngsters.
She was proud.
As she thought of Bes a little longer her thoughts turned to Aruna. She hadn't seen the mare in so long that it worried her a little. She knew Aruna wasn't the best behaved mares but then she couldn't talk, she mated with a Kalona though Thestral isn't any Kalona he doesn't even speak!
She continued to walk, not quite knowing where it was she was heading but not caring either, she was remembering the good times and that was the best thing she could do.

Kiefer squinted, it seemed another was off in the distance. He did not regonize the soquili, but it appeared to be a mare with a shiny brown coat and pumpkin colored hair.
He trotted torwards her, curious to why she was in such an isolated place. Why had he come here, anyway? Out of bordum, of course. Maybe she was in the same state. He relized he was close enough new to see her in a bit more detail, so he spoke.
"Hello" he said, smiling. She didn't seem like the unaprochable tyle, but she clearly had been thinking quite alot. He wondered if it had been wrong to interupt her in her thoughts, but then again, it was too late to think about that now, wasn't it?
"I'm Kiefer" he said, deciding to just keep going with it. He ought to introduce himself, he was the once who approched her, anyways.

The mare snapped out of her thoughts as a word his her ears. She turned around quickly to spot the stallion who looked very familiar. It took her a while but then it clicked, he looked like Abattie, Barin's daughter. She wasn't sure they were related though so said nothing for a while.
Finally she lowered her head in greeting and smiled, "It is nice to meet you, I am Artemis." She was a little curious of this stallion, he just looked so much like her brother's daughter but then she would be all grown up now and foals never look completely the same as an adult, maybe it was just a coincidence.

Kiefer tilted his head a bit as the mare looked at him oddly, as if the gears in her head were turning. He wondered if she was just thinking he was a weirdo, or if she was just a curious mare. After a long silence, she said her name.
Kiefer's eyes widened. Artemis...that was....his aunts name. What were the odds? Could it really be here, or just another mare with the same name? Of course, he knew that soquili didn't share the same names...so it must be...
"I...I...is your brother named...Bairn, perhaps? If so...." he didn't want to say anything weird, because it would be embaressing to simply accuse a stranger of being related to him. "I'm his sone...anyway.." he mumbled, still a bit audible. Still, he was accusing her of being his aunt, but not as directly as he originally thought. That was good...hopefully.

She listened to him stutter, rather amused at it all but he confirmed her thoughts.
"I thought you looked a little like Abattie, that would be why then. It's nice to meet you." She smiled at him in her normal way while her mind was thinking about many things all at once. She should get her kids to meet her family, oh wouldn't that be amusing, no maybe not. Maybe only Bes could meet them the others are just a little out of it as of late.

Kiefer's ears perked up as she confirmed the fact that she was indeed his aunt! He always wanted to meet the rest of his family, and he had just suddenly...ran into one!
What to say, what to say? Meeting family was always akward, you felt as it you should be overly friendly with them, like how you treat your direct family, but they are as good as strangers. You don't know if they will even be kind to you! Of course, his father said nothing but good things about his family, and that was reassuring.
"Wow...how. Cool...I mean..." He tried to think of what to say again. "How are you?" he asked. Yes, that seemed like a good start. "I've heard alot about you. Well I mean, not ALOT. But my father...Bairn, he is always saying how wonderful his family was and..." he realized he was on the verdge of rambling. Time to stop.
