I need help! My best friend is getting married in the end of July and I'm her maid of honor. I have to write a toast and I don't know what to say! I have some memories from high school and a little bit of mushy "she's my best friend. Josh is so lucky and better take care of her" kind of stuff. But, it's short. Barely a quarter of a page. How can I add to it?

I really wish I could help, but I've never written a wedding toast before. Maybe keeping it to just what you have and a brief anecdote. Short and sweet might be the best idea when it's at a party, and everyone's going to have something to say.

Then again, I really don't know. Best of luck, and my greatest congratulations to your friend!

Have a nice day!

Cheese can't remember any of the wedding she's been to... Hm... Perhaps mention something about the great future they're sure to have?

To me, the best wedding toasts are short, sweet, and to the point.

If you're toasting the bride, then i'm assuming your the maid of honor. There will also be two or three other toasts, besides yours.

Be remembered for your sardonic wit, your geniune good wishes, and the gift to cut off before anyone got bored.

A wedding toast I once gave:

I sat through three other toasts. They all averaged around 5-7 minutes. Everyone was bored. Eyes were glazing. Liqour was needing to be drank.

I stood.

"After hearing all of these wonderful stories and good wishes for my friends, i feel that mine may pale in comparassion, but know that it is just as heartfelt: 'Ditto' "

I scored an ovation.

just thought i'd update everyone about how the whole toast thing went. even though it was over a month ago.

i had something all nice written out when I came back from vacation. but it was too long so i was going to just shorten it and talk about how the bride is my best friend and that i know the groom will take care of her and has made her so happy. well, i got the mircrophone and started talking and as soon as my gaze met the couple's the tears began to flow and I went into a fit of giggles to hide the fact that i was crying from everyone and finally raised my glass and said "long and happy marriage to you" and sat down to giggle for about ten minutes. so it kind of flopped but i tried sweatdrop 4laugh mrgreen

it was amazing though Carey! You did better than I could have done for Josh and he's like a brother to me. smile
