When you're writing a quote, do you make a new paragraph or say "said" then the name after the quote all the time along with their expressions? >.<
Really confuses me. Hope I didn't confuse you. o.o
Quote as in:
"What did you do today?" Ashley asked. "I did nothing actually," said Tomoe nervously.
Etc etc.

Err, I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but both examples you provided are equally fine. Some people think that 'said Sally' is a little more antiquated than 'Sally said', but it's subjective, and there's not a grammatical difference.
I hope I answered your question!
Have a nice day! ~ Moya

^^ Like Moya said, it's subjective. Cheese personally likes a bit of variation- switching them back and forth a bit! mrgreen

I often get confused just like that. ;D I don't normally write "said" or the name before said. I write what they are doing and how they said it, pretty much.

Sabrina swept back her long brown hair and held it high above her head. "Do you think i should cut it" she asked tommy "Nah, i like it just like that" he replied "I just get so frustrated with it sometimes" "I can understand that, i mean, i spend hours every day curling, and drying, and the conditioning, oh man.. " Sabrina slapped at tommy, giggiling "Oh, okay, mr. buzzcut."
pretty much as long as you're able to keep up with who's saying what when, you're fine, homie.

Is it an exerpt from something? If so, Cheese would love to read it!

Anyiana I often get confused just like that. ;D I don't normally write "said" or the name before said. I write what they are doing and how they said it, pretty much. yeah, "said" can be overused sometimes. Sometimes it's necessary but it's good that you don't get into something like Bob said, "wanna go out?" "maybe," jill said." "How about a movie?" said bobThat drives me crazy and I've seen quite a few people on other sites write like that. And if I mention it when they ask for comments, they think I'm mean. Probably why i dont use those sites anymore.
