Under the streets of Dollet lies the open, maze of filth and sludge that is the sewers. Rats the size of dogs seem to be the only form of life, but it's not true... in fact, the sewers hold a great deal of magical energy. Those that can feel such things can feel it... granted, most don't stay down here long because of the smell and disease.

Deep in the sewers lies a town of thieves, murderers, and bandits, living in relative peace with each other. As long as they don't bother each other, they tend to be neutral to each other's existence. In some spots, friendships are formed... it's a type of impromptu thieves' guild, without any organization. Fridgeir has a hideout here, and his is generally better off than the others, thanks to his skill.

Fridgeir helped his ally into the sewers, climbing back up to close the grate. He inhaled the horrible fumes deeply. "Ahhh: Hovel, sweet hovel." He turned, walking on the path to the north. "You'd be surprised the kind of stuff people throw into the sewers. Nothing edible, of course... but some of us down here have been able to find rings, necklaces... heck, there has even been some bodies wash up down here. It's rather sad, but hey, that's city life." He shrugged, leading on. "I've got a room in with the rest of us down here. Olidamarra be praised that we've been skilled in keeping our presence hidden."

Nyssul would have praised their efforts by saying that she had no clue about them, but it probably wouldn't have meant much, considering her recent arrival. Instead she decided that something had been bothering her, and she wanted to know more about it.
"You mentioned earlier that you had seen something similar to my talents before. May I ask where?"
PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2007 8:46 pm

"Of course." Fridgeir smiled, still leading the way, "There was a man I found on my travels, he and his wife. Fox-people... I'm guessing they were Hengeyokai... both of them had this strange shapeshifting ability. Granted, they didn't have the mass limitation like you did, just a time limitation... in any case, it's back in my own homeland. They were an odd couple, anyway... the male was an ex-bandit turned adventurer, and the female an ex-pirate... who, by the way, was born human. Freaks, the two of'em. Nice enough people, though. And totally loaded with gold." He turned and nodded, "In any case, we're almost there."

She nodded back, trying not to show the utter deflation felt in her heart. It was rare that she heard about people similar to her. For an instant, an almost infentesimal amount of time, she had hoped this man had met kinsmen of hers, and would be able to point her home. As with the few other occasions she had gotten her hopes up, this left her feeling empty and hopeless. There was something else though. The word "freak" had cut into her. She wondered if he thought the same of her.

"Which brings up an interesting question. You're a Hengeyokai too, aren't you...?" He turned and looked at her, then shook his head, thinking aloud, "Nah, you don't look like a particular animal." He turned and kept walking, "'Sides, you can take multiple forms... kind of like the male. He was a Fey." He grinned, "Like me. A Spirit Folk. Nice folks, as long as you don't run into an Unseelie." He wasn't really talking to anyone in particular, just thought conversation would be better than walking silently.

She was glad for the sound of something other than the dripping water.
"Unseelie? I'm afraid I don't know much about Spirit Folk, other than the fact that I can't hear them. I've only met a few."
She had all but forgotten about the smell down here. She wondered what this haven of his would look like.

"You seem to hear me just fine." He turned with a wink. "Spirit Folk, like myself, are born to humans. We're just blessed with a few odd powers depending on where we are born. I was born near a river... So..." He jumped off the walkway into the sewer water... landing with a 'plink' on top. "Water walking. Granted, it's not to impressive to walk on this near-solid sludge." He jumped back. "I can also breathe water, and talk to fish. Odd powers for a thief, but they come in handy." He turned and smiled, "We also tend to be quite light-weight. I'm weighted down by equipment and loot, so you might not have been able to tell..."

She laughed a little. A thought came to her.
"I suppose if it were me in your position, I would mostly rob near rivers. Easiest get away you could hope for, assuming your loot isn't water soluable."
She smiled, rather proud that someone of her moral standing could come up with something so devious. Then she shrank a little, realizing he had probably thought of that on day one of theif school.
PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2007 9:09 pm

"...Huh. Never thought of that." He shrugged, "Haven't really gotten the chance to steal near rivers. Have been inland, mostly. I kind miss'em." He shrugged, nodding towards her. "Good advice, though... also, the speaking to fish thing has come in mighty handy. Think of how many places have those little fish tanks? Fish HATE that. They'll tell me anything just to spite their owners." He smiled, "What about you? You're absolutely gorgeous, and you can shapeshift... what brings you out to the city? You should be entertaining royalty in a royal palace, being paid quadruple your weight in gold."

She laughed and cursed herslef silently for blushing.
"I am sorry to report I've never even seen a royal palace that I know of. I'm not sure what I did before I came to these shores and my talents get me more trouble than profit. Not long after my arrival I was taken away from my caretakers in the night. A noble, whose heart must be a blackened and shrivelled thing, spent a number of years forcing me to help him further himself. I managed to get away, and I've been running ever since. I've come to the city in the hopes that I won't be found out in such a large croud. I have no desire to ever return to that place."
She was shocked at herself again for sharing so much. Especially with a theif. If he ever caught word of the reward being offered for the "safe return of a very loved and very missed adopted daughter" he would porbably turn her over without a second thought.

Desnoirs floated around not touching the ground.
She was better than that,
but then why was she here?
To get some items for her spells of course!
She was out of rats nails and water sludge.
Desnoirs floated above the water and put some gloves on,
as she dipped a gallon jug in the water.
She saw a rat scurrying around.
"Oh my lucky day...."
She shot it with her staff and it squeaked as it dropped dead.
She put the lid on the gallon and put it in a bag,
so she wouldn't get it on her and grabbed the rat
and put it in a seperate baggy.
"Oh I hate the sewers!"
she said to herself.

Fridgeir stopped, closing his eyes. "Nobles." He had to struggle to not cry. "I'm not a fan of them, myself. Stuck-up, foolhardy, oppressive, speciesist, sexist, height, sons-of-bitches. It's why I started stealing in the first place." He gripped his hands so hard his knuckles turned white. "I was born to them. They mistreated me and hurt me... because I'm short... I ran away." He rose a hand, wiping the only tear that fell away... he turned and nodded towards her. "It's nice to know I have a kin in dislike."

He turned, looking at what seemed to be a solid brick wall. "This is it." He knocked on the brick... a gravelly voice said, "Password?" Fridgeir smiled, "There isn't one." The 'door' opened, and a dustbin of a man stood with a toothless smile, "Welcome, Blue Rogue and Guest."

Fridgeir turned and nodded, "Stay close. This is a thieves' community, and we leave each other alone... you shouldn't be a target as long as you're by me." The place was actually very sophisticated... crude elevators brought them from any of the six floors... it looked rather like a hotel, actually. Just... for thieves. He led her to an elevator, and spoke to the operator, "Suite floor." The man nodded, turning a lever so the elevator would rise. Fridgeir turned to look at her, "As I said, It's no Hilton... but it's home."

Nyssul unconsciously wrapped an arm in his, not wanting to stray. She tried not to smile at the place. That seemed like something somoen with absolutely experience would do.
"I think its just fine. Better than what I use to call home in any case."
That was true. She had been kept in the dark and cold dungeon of a noble's home. There had been spiders, and no human contact, other than when she was forced to rip into the mind of a captive. This place seemed much warmer and cozier, despite the abundance of outlaws.

Desnoirs suppressed a gasp as she heard voices.
She looked down the way to see two people
go into a wall that closed behind them...
Desnoirs went up to the now closed wall
still floating as to not touch the dirty ground..
"Some kind of magic...?"
