Licorice pawed half-heartedly at what remained of a chocolate bunny she had caught an hour or so ago, disappointed even chocolate did not make her feel better. She thought perhaps caramel would be better, but it was harder to find than chocolate, and it was most easily found around other Numas which she dared not venture close enough to. Her scent drove them away, and she simply could not take any more rejection today.
"I think I found Kieran's gingerbread house," she murmured to herself as she poked at the bunny's remains. "Maybe I should take him the thing I made..." She carried it in a pouch around her neck just in case she ever ran into the charming blue numa again.
"Did I not tell you to cool it?" Scottie snapped, disturbed from her catnap and making her mother flinch back. "Why would he want that thing anyway? And besides, finding his house? Isn't that a bit stalkerish?" Scottie snorted and stretched her wings, swaying them up and down in the sun for a moment before trying to sleep again.
Licorice gave her malicious daughter a weak shrug, her head lower than before. "It matches his horns..." she sighed, ignoring the last statement. That was why she had not yet taken it to him - she doubted he would appreciate her searching for his house the way she had.

Kieran stretched out along his bed, yawning as he tried to get back to sleep. His blue hair falling over his eyes, he opened them to look around briefly before attempting slumber again. He was quite tired from last night, so the male numa tried not to let the sunlight pouring in from the window bother him.
While his father slept, the young pink and grey numa had run of the house. He had started to make breakfast for the late riser of a father he posessed, but he easily got preoccupied, staring out a window in the front of the house. His ears perked as he noticed two numas outside that were walking around.
Smiling, the boy moved to open the door and peek out with his big black eyes and little white face to see the girls better.
"Hi there~!" He called, smiling and lifting a paw to wave.

Licorice perked her ears up and looked around for the owner of that voice, squeaking when she noticed a numa she did not recognize peeking out at them. She waved back since it would be rude not to, but she hoped he would not come much closer and get whiff of her scent.
Scottie was less than impressed, lazily rolling one red eye to get a glimpse at the other numa before closing her eyes again and trying to ignore him.
Licorice eyed her daughter cautiously before quietly slipping around her to go just a little closer and get a better look at the other numa out of curiosity. The house he was peeking out of was the one she thought Kieran lived in - how ironic. If it was, maybe she could pretend she was just passing by rather than letting him find out she was actively looking for him.

Kieran groaned from his spot on the bed, rolling off when his son's voice broke the peaceful morning air.
"Shinya...geez, could you be any louder?" He yawned and shook out all the weird folds in his coat before padding over to the door.
"Who are you saying hi to?" Kieran squinted, trying to see the same numas his son was seeing.
"Oh, just some girl numas over there~" Shinya pointed off in that direction, smiling brightly. They look very nice, can we invite them in?" He asked sweetly, tail wagging in hopeful energy.
It was then Kieran realized that he recognized one of the numas that were passing by as Licorice, a good friend of his.
"I think we can invite them in, sure." He smiled and waved a little himself.
"Licorice~!" He called to her, beckoning her over with a blue paw.

Licorice bounced, her gloomy mood lifted when she heard Kieran's voice. So it was his house, and he actually wanted her to come over - wonderful! She bounded over to the door, quivering with excitement. She felt a little guilty that she was so eager to leave Scottie behind, but she focused on Kieran, sitting on her tail to keep it from shaking.
"Kieran!" she squeaked happily. "I was hoping I'd see you again!" She looked at the first male, coming to a conclusion. "Is this your little one?" The black and white numa blinked a few times at him. "Not so little."
Scottie sat back up and glared over at the house in annoyance, growing increasingly tired of all the noise. She was tempted to outright leave and let her mother get lost on the way back to their tree like she always did.

Kieran grinned as she approached, sitting down on his doorstep and chuckling at her. "Hello Licorice! It's nice to see you again." Looking over at Shinya while Licorice spoke, the blue numa nodded. "Ah, yes, this is my son, Shinya." Kieran smiled and nudged the pink boy a little.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Licorice!" Shinya bowed in respect, his face bright red in nervousness. "I heard you were a very nice person from Father!"

Licorice smiled at Shinya and replied, "Nice to meet you too! Kieran told me about you, but he didn't tell me how-" Wait, what was the word? "Pretty" was for girls, and for boys, it was... "-handsome you are!" She hoped beyond hope that that was the right word, terrified of offending either of them. And now she was no longer sure about giving Kieran her gift still hidden in the pouch around her neck, worried he might not like it.
Scottie growled and pushed herself to her feet, glaring at Licorice before scoffing, "I'm going to get something to eat." She did not wait for any response, instead pushing herself into the air and flying to the nearest gumdrop tree with much more elegance than Licorice ever could hope to manage.
Licorice could not hide her misery when she first heard Scottie's voice, black ears drooping to stick out either side of her head, and her relief when her daughter left was also painfully obvious.

"H-handsome..? Me?" Shinya's face went even brighter red at this compliment from the elder female. He couldn't believe it! Someone other than a family member was saying he was pretty!
"Thank you so much!" Shinya giggled genuinely, wagging his tail in uncontained excitement.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the other girl was leaving. She looked a little younger than he was, but the pink numa couldn't be sure. Idly, he wondered if her leaving meant she was stranding Miss Licorice here with his father and he. Hopefully not, since that was mean!
"Licorice, would you like to come inside now? Shinya and i were making lunch, and we do have food to spare, since Nalikai won't be joining us today." Kieran didn't mind; Nalikai was a free spirit. He just came and went as he pleased. Though maybe stray cat was a better term, since the black and red numa always came crawling back.

"I'd love to!" Licorice squeaked with a smile, pleased to have a reprieve from Scottie. She carefully cleaned her feet off before entering, not wanting to dirty Kieran's house. The black and white numa fidgetted for a brief moment before finally getting up the nerve to remove the pouch from around her neck, meekly offering it to the blue numa. "I-I made this for you...I hope you like it..." She was terrified he would not, but she would never know if she never gave it to him, would she?
It was only after she did so that she heard the name Kieran mentioned. "Nalikai...?" she asked. "Another little one?" She knew it was possible for the Marshmallow Swan to grant two babies to a single parent rather than just one, so she assumed this "Nalikai" was Shinya's sibling.
