I just recently managed to get Super Metroid for the SNES but I don't have a SNES anymore so a friend of mine let me borrow his. I've been going at it recently and it's quite good. I'll let you know how it turns out but in the mean time, this thread should be for chatting about how much you like this particular saga from Nintendo and why. If you also have any other thing(s) you want to talk about (as long as it's Metroid related) then go ahead. For example, I own 4 games from this saga so far and here's my list:
Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Prime (1), Super Metroid & Metroid Fusion. What's yers?

Hmm, we only have one game in common and that's MP1. How's hunters anyway? The reviewers in EGM in Spanish say it gets you dizzier 20% faster. They also gave it a kind of low rating of 6.3. Go figure, eh?

Cool! Do you have a favorite version of Ridley? I think the fact that Metroid Zero Mission was released, is awesome cuz, I hated that the bosses were insignificant specs on the screen. I couldn't understand how Konami was able to make huge bosses on Contra while Nintendo couldn't do something similar on Metroid. rolleyes But I see now that the folks at Konami probably released it afterwards and they had more experience programming for the NES.

Probably the first Ridley. It was so cool to fight him the first time. Then a nice reminder every other time I've seen him. Prime's Ridley was just annoying however...

Really? I actually liked the Ridley from Prime. I thought it was tough as nails until I was finally able to beat it! I think I liked the idea of the chest plate weakness and all the attacks it had on Prime. I liked seeing it on 3D as well but my favorite Ridley is probably the one from Metroid Zero Mission. That one is really easy if you have lots of energy tanks. mrgreen I had all the energy tanks on Prime and I still had a hard time on that battle! rolleyes Heck! I can't seem to be able to destroy the final boss (Metroid Prime) a second time, I don't know why... I did beat it one time but, unless the difficulty of the boss raises as you beat the game, then I'm stumped!
Oh and btw, I think it's neat that you support good grammar. 3nodding

Well, I was used to the 2D games. And then having to search which direction Ridley was coming from was an annoying thing for me. Still a fun fight though. That happened for me for the final boss too! I've beaten him twice, and that's it. The phazon cannon is cool though.
Yeah. A lot of people support this banner as well. I actually got permission from the creator of the banner to put it in my signature. Not like people who just steal it... But yeah, I've nearly gotten kicked out of Gaia multiple times for supposedly flaming nubs for their bad grammar.

So it's not only me who thinks Metroid Prime gets even tougher the more you beat it, huh? It's possible they programmed the game like that then. MZM is like that. If you beat the game on hard mode, it gets even tougher and the Mecha Ridley gets nearly impossible to beat. 3nodding It's funny cuz, Metroid Fusion doesn't feel like that. If I have all the energy tanks, the game feels like a breeze!
Really? Imagine that! ha-ha! It's a good thing firefox checks my spelling for me, he-he. sweatdrop Sometimes I do miss certain things though...

The biggest flaw with spell check is that sometimes you'll spell the wrong word correctly. So you'll spell the word right, but it says the exact opposite of what you want. Common things for these mistakes are words like 'there', 'their', and 'they're'.

I totally get what yer talking about! I get stuff like that sometimes but not as often as I see on certain forums.
So, nobody has anything to say about a Metroid game in particular?
Let me see if I can...

Do you know what item I've always hated? The spider ball thing. You turn into the morph ball and then go along the tracks. Always annoyed me in Prime when I got to a dead end and the only way to go on is to go on the track. When I don't have it yet...

I hear ya! But I bet they did that so the game could be more lineal. My guess is they didn't want people to sequence break past those parts or something. Who knows... rolleyes I find it strange that, while the grapple beam lets you do the most awesome tricks on Super Metroid, you can barely swing around in Metroid Prime. I wish I knew if they made it better on the others...

I believe it is used as an actual attack on the third Prime. I haven't played it but I heard a rumor that you can grab enemies and toss them around if they're not too heavy.

Really? I'm glad they actually made an improvement on that one. At least on the third installment for the Wii. 3nodding
I was wondering, which metroid games are fine just the way they are and which actually need a re-release like Metroid Zero Mission? I thought the first one needed an improved version and thank God there is one.
