Maka-MakaSex, Life, and CommunicationMaka-Maka is one of my personal favorite serializations. I'm often left a little unimpressed with more explicit yuri manga (they tend to be admittedly lacking in quality or geared toward an audience that does not contain me), but this one...really left an impression. Lililicious A modern, all-color adult manga. It was serialized online at http://www.digi-tora.com/ (no longer up).
Some of the chapters are just about sex, often in public places, but that isn't all Maka-Maka is about. It's about having someone who tells you your skin looks beautiful in the moonlight, someone who looks out for you and wants you to look out for yourself by having safe sex. It's about having someone who calls you the night of your birthday, when you're feeling down because you just slept with a guy who turned out to be a jerk, and thanks you for being born because she's so happy to have met you.
What is Maka-Maka about? It's about Jun and Nene. If I remember this correctly--I read Maka-Maka by chapters over the course of a very long time--almost every chapter of the manga contains sex. Or at least some form of very fanservicey, not-worksafe cuteness. But the thing is, it's pure yuri, without toys, futanari, group sex, non-con/rape, or anything else.
The series is so much more than just the sex, though--it really explores the relationship between Jun and Nene and shows exactly how close they are, how much they care about each other. They really do have a beautiful relationship, which is why I think this manga is so worth reading.
The manga has been scanslated all the way through by Lililicious, and is currently available in this form at their web site. There is a zip of the entire serialization. Edit: Maka-Maka has been licensed by Media Blasters and will be released by their label Kitty Media! Check the last post on the first pace of this thread for more information. :]
Has anyone else read this series? I know that some people adore it, and others find it a little less than appealing for one reason or another. What do you guys think of it?

I read quite a few chapters until my computer started sulking when it comes to image files... I have to say, it's really beautiful. I never found the sex to be intrusive, even though it's in every chapter and I usually don't go for anything graphic. The art's beautiful, especially the coluor pages, and really adds to the whole expression of what Maka-Maka is... I can't explain it. I just really loved reading it, and if I could get my computer to happily open image files again, I'd read the rest. ^u^

Maka maka is great! It is not a manga just about sex. It's about the relationship between the girls, and well... there is the sex, but very very good. =D

Yeah, that's what i thought about it. =D I'm not usually a sex-sex-sex kind of person, but smut sometimes works a little magic when you're in the mood. Even then, though, I tend to prefer things that are less porn-without-plot, and this one definitely cuts it with that. You can always see so much of their relationship coming through and it makes it more personal and more meaningful--rather than just a lot of mindless screwing.

Maka Maka is love. heart I utterly adore that series, and revel in the tenderness between Nene and Jun.
For me, I would love to have a relationship akin to theirs. And I practically melted at the line about looking beautiful in the moonlight. *-*

VBunny I feel sad because I missed out on it. It looks really good. crying Missed out on it? I don't believe it's licensed yet, so you can probably still find scanslations around. I certainly did. It may be rather unlikely to be licensed anyway, seeing as the series is rather...adult. Like, not one chapter of it is worksafe. =__=;; But hey on the off chance that they license it in English or Chinese, I'll buy. :9According to guild rules, I can't really link or direct you in any way (especially because it's adult material), but I can tell you that it was scanslated by Lililicious and that it's definitely still out there. Run a search, or something.
Oh, and the entire series is only two volumes long.

And I practically melted at the line about looking beautiful in the moonlight. *-* Me too. Although, if I did have someone like that, I'd probably want to be the only one they were actually dating, haha. But really--having someone who's always there for you like that, that's just amazing. It's terribly well-written, too, you can really see the depth of their relationship through everything they do and say.
I totally loved that line, but I think my favorite was the call that Jun made on Nene's birthday. :[ But hey, I loved lots of this manga, so. XD

You're hella lucky to have a relationship like that, haha.
Yeah, I really like the dynamics of the relationship, even if the girls don't seem to view it as a real "girlfriend-girlfriend" relationship but more of a particularly close, constant friends-with-benefits affair. The sex...I actually ended up liking it in this series, because it's tasteful, vanilla (which is depressingly rare), and shows a lot of emotion.

Updated a little with the source for this series. Those of you who were wondering how to find it, it's probably a tad easier if you know the group who scanslated it. XD

Ah, Maka-Maka has been licensed by Media Blasters! This means it'll be more accessible in the future. I'm not sure whether I'm surprised or not, since it's such a good series, but it's also ero/adult material.
Either way, everyone who enjoyed this series or thinks that they will, look out for it! I'm sure they can't screw up the translations on this one, either (they can't, right?). The scanslators did a great job of setting a standard, though.
Anyway, it'll be uncensored, released by Media Blaster's adult label Kitty Media, 18+ rating and shrinkwrapped, according to this source, a company representative. Apparently they're hoping to keep the price to $20, and are releasing in full color with all of the extras. Sounds great so far!
