I have always wondered this since I was 10 years old. Yes I know 10 years old was the age were I declared myself an anime fan and a proud Yuri fan. Thought my first experience with Yuri was at age 6 when watching the Cartoon Network syndication of Sailor Moon. Anyways back to the present day, now I'm 13, I have matured and seen some Hentai. But still Yuri is my passion in anime I just love it! But something really bothers me, it seems that Yaoi and Yuri has been having more girl fans than guy ones. And if I say I'm a Yaoi fan (Which I like but I'm not a fan) they call me gay, and if I say I'm a Yuri fan (Which I am!) they call me a pervert. Which is my main problem because some Yuri guilds in here don't let guys join like Final Fantasy Yuri Guild which doesn't let guys join.
Well my reason for posting was to see: What do you girls think about boys that are Yuri fans or Yaoi fans? And, why do some girls don't allow guys joining a Yuri guild?

Okay, anywayss I really kinda never realize there was more girls fans than boys 'till a few hours ago. sweatdrop . I think boys being Yaoi fan for boys does kinda mak me think your gay im not saying that you are gay ,but I lik yaoi too biggrin but mostly yuri,because its so sweet heart when I think about boys being yuri fans i wouldnt think you a pervent one bit I would say "hey me,too 4laugh !" Well thanks for not thinking of me as a pervert but one time I told my friend I was a Yuri fan and she called me a pervert, thought she admits she likes Yaoi. And at that time my girlfriend was around she was like "What, you like Yuri?!" and I had to tell her that I was joking because she got really mad and since then I haven't admit it to her.

In my opinion I don't think it's wrong for a guy to like/love Yuri, just as long as they understand what exactly it is.
If they want dirty lesbian crap like the guys at my school then they don't deserve to be called 'yuri fans' as they say they are. I actually just got into yuri a while back and was surprised when I found just.. all this crap about it~ I found it hard to find true shoujo-ai and yuri guilds/forums.
Oh, and you're not a pervert 4laugh

My opinion on guys being...
Yuri fans: Aslong as you aren't a perverted "lesbians are so hawwwt!"-freak and actually understand and appreciate the love between the ladies I'm perfectly fine with you.
Yaoi fans: I don't care whatever you're into you're into just don't shove your yaoi materials into my face and we can be good friends<3

Well your only 13 so I wouldn't worry about loosing your girl friend over something so trivial. If she can't handle you liking something then how can she like you for who you are.

Well... No normal thinking, non hypocrytical (however you write that) person should care if a boy likes Yaoi... But (!) I've also come to notice that guys looooove the thought of girls on girls because it turns them on. They (speaking of most American christians, no offense...) don't seem to realize that they are actually gay. They only think of the sex. But when they see guy on guy it completly turns them off because they can't relate to it. They think it's disgusting and unnatural. Take my Bro for example. He hears I'm bi and I have a gf and he's like "Oooh that's so awsome!" But I come to talking to him about gay dudes and he's like "Ugh somebody ought to take all gays put em in a line and shoot em!" (fyi I'm american so you can imagine the stupidty of my dad's side of the family... All stupid red necks... stare ) As you can imagine I went beserk and beat some sense into him and hopefully someday he'll come to accept them... Same for my father who will disown me as soon as he finds out bout me... lol
Anyways... so be a none gay yaoi fan. I think it's cool and more boys should be like you!

Don't worry about it. I like both yuri and yaoi and I am perfectly straight. No need to fell bad. But I'm sad to say Yuri is...not as amusing as it used to be crying

It's a little unfair to not let guys into a yuri guild at all... almost sexist, don't you think?
I guess I can understand why this might be. It's possible that they think that all male yuri fans are of the "Ooh, hawt lesbians~!" type, which is an unfair generalisation. Although, it could be from experience... it's unfortunate, but not everyone on the internet is polite and kind like the people of this guild...
Anyway, if you really, really wanted to join, would it be possible to PM the guild captain to sort of... make your case for being allowed into the guild. Perhaps if they can see that you're not a pervert (and you clearly aren't! ^u^), you could be allowed in...
As for your girlfriend, maybe she's got the same kind of misconceptions? If you want to tell her about it, I'd suggest bringing up specific anime or manga that you can show her to let her know that they aren't really perverted or anything.

There is currently a complete double standard going on. There are just as many perverted yaoi obsessed girls as there are perverted yuri obsessed guys. It is completely unfair to make a generalization on one without also considering the other. If they don't let guys into some yuri guilds, there should be some yaoi guilds that don't allow girls.
I think that if a guy also appreciates the yuri for the story and love and not just for the whole "omghawtgirlsdoingstuffwitheachother" thing, they deserved to be recognized as a true fan and not simply a pervert.
