The courtyard isn't completely open it is more of a jungle/garden with white cobblestone pathways and an open center area with one gargantuan tree that towers over the whole center area. All the pathways lead to the center area which is sort of like a hub so you have to walk past the big tree to get anywhere else. During the day the tree blooms with golden flowers that smell sweet and sparkle in the sunlight, at night the tree blooms with silver flowers that smell soothing and glow softly in the moonlight. Twice a day, at dawn and dusk, when the sun and moon change who is lighting the sky, both flowers bloom and fill the center area with their light, not to much gold or silver but a combination of the two in perfect harmony and the smell is the best smell in the world, but never seems to be the same for two different people. The whole courtyard spans an area that always seems big enough, but not to big, and small enough, but not to small.
Almost like it changes to meet the requirements of its visitors.
