I went into work one day with my nails painted black. Not for any specific reason, I had just forgotten to take it off form the day before. I had to be in early and couldn't ask my female flatmate for her nail varnish remover.
I was made take it off. As in, a manager approached me and handed me a piece of cotton wool and a bottle of remover. I wouldn't mind, but in the rules when I started it said you could wear it, as long as it was neat and tidy. It said nothing of gender. And even worse was that it was black, not like I painted them pink or anything.
