Here is going to be a vast conglomerate of possible symbolism and meanings for dreams. I'll pull from the internet as well as the books I own, and if you could add, too, that'd be wonderful! I don't care if it's in the books...if something means something to you symbolically, I'd love to stick it in here so we can have our own little dictionary!

I'll add to this slowly and in a very random order. If, however, you have a specific symbol you'd like me to add, PLEASE do tell me so I can get it up first, kay? heart

I'm not too sure if this belongs here...

Okay...so last night I had a bunch of weird dreams but there's a part of one that really sticks out to me. I was laying in a hospital bed, in a place sort of like a school gym. Next to the bed was this box attatched to the ceiling by a string that for some reason symbolized something spiritual to me...And I think I called upon a spirit or something, and the box started moving pretty violently, (at this point I got scared and closed my eyes in the dream) and I began to get EXTREMELY cold, almost to the point of being pretty painful, and began shaking like I was having a seizure. O_o I don't know if this means anything or if it just represents my desire to connect with my spiritual side better...but if anyone could please help me interpret this dream it would be much appreciated heart

Ill do my best to interpet it for you. (im still training)

I take it to be a sign that you have another side, or an alter ego of some sort. The gym/building represents the deepest corridors of yourself(where im not sure. i think it to be your soul or heart, where your personality originated). The box tied to the ceiling maybe whats keeping your other side locked. The string represents that whatever is inside the box is, even though its small, is connected to you some how and it is thrashing about in an attempt to release its self.

Im not convenced if this is true, but this is what I got out of it. All my friends at school have alter egos. (almost all have 2 or even 3). Me however does not have this problem. I do have a slight split personality, but it hardly, if ever, shows. Im basing my thesis on my past experience and your dreams sercomstances. Agian, im not sure im right. I could be all wrong for all i know, but i did my best, and maybe this has lightened you a little.

Hm... I'm not sure. I used to be really into dream interpretation, but now I don't do it anymore. It's my belief that whatever knowledge we attempt to have concerning others' dreams is invariably tainted by whatever the symbols in question mean for us. As Jung said, the only one who can truly know the full meaning of a dream is the dreamer himself.

So, I would recommend meditating on the dream yourself, and examining how certain elements of it made you feel. Then search for parallels in your life. It might not have some all-defining moral to it; who knows? But as long as you continue to draw inspiration and meaning from the experience, you can interpret dreams however you wish. That's what I think, anyhow.

Agreed. And anyone who quotes Jung gets a cookie. *hands you a cookie*

As far as where posts like this should go, feel free to post them here! However, you are equally as welcome to make your own thread for your dream; you might get more people to read it that way. heart

I know what you're thinking. "Why, Kizzy? If you don't believe others can interpret your dreams, then why have you made this thread and subforum?" I don't think anyone can give you an EXACT interpretation, but I know I myself have been aided greatly by others in interpreting my dreams if only for the fact that they show me what it's not. Plus, you never know, and it can't hurt!

And it's for the reason that our own symbols "taint" (I'd rather say 'influence') our interpretations that I wanted anyone who wants to to contribute what certain symbols mean to them, so as to make a dream dictionary that reflects all the members in the guild. That way you'll not only have a reference to your own symbols (I'll specify usernames), but also other individual's, which might open up more doors for you as well.

Farfle, as far as your dream goes...I think the hospital reflects your current situation and life events. And the gym probably refers to our chat the other day about your first dream and your desire to dream of it again. I honestly think you're 10 steps ahead of me and managed to at least partially incubate a dream, which deserves MAJOR kudos, especially since my well-experienced friend said it takes a lot of work to pull that off. (BTW, I WILL get that thread up; I pulled four books and they're sitting on my desk as I type this).

I really think Meichi's on to something, though. I don't think I would have gotten the string part like that! Connection makes lots of sense though, see if that resonates with you? And I definitely agree the box is something spiritual connected to you.

Aww, I don't think anyone will attack you for poor spelling! As long as you don't talk chatspeak, it's all good. heart

The alter egos thing completely fascinates me, and in a way is a relief to hear. Ever since I "woke up" to my abilities and to myself, it's felt like there are more than one 'me'. I usually don't talk about it, because for someone who studies psychology, I'm aware of the stigmas. There is the regular 'me', and there is the 'dark' me. I'd be even more dismissive of it than I already am, except when the 'dark' me comes out, apparently my energy signature goes haywire and my friends seem to have a hard time connecting and communicating with me; I've even freaked a couple of them out. So, it's glad to know that I'm not alone in this!

Its quite alright! Though I believe that every person has an alter ego that shows sometimes, but exactly how much and how intence differs from individual to individual. All in all I try to do my best and hopefully relieve a little stress to the dreamers. So its all good!

Y'know, I was chatting with a friend (who is also in this guild) about your post on this. We both thought it'd be totally awesome if you were up to posting your own thread on your ideas since we both resonated with them. This is up to you, of course, though! heart
