Inkblotters: Poetry Mentors

The purpose of this guild is to connect new or fledgling poets -- and critics -- with mentors to sharpen their craft and skills.

Mentors are asked to demonstrate proficiency in poetry or critiquing or both, and to devote time to their protégés.

Protégés need only ask, but are asked to be understanding if a mentor is not immediately found.

Please PM Poetess Laureate to state whether your intention is to be a mentor or protégé, and whether your interest is writing, critiquing, or both.

It should be noted that either side of the mentor relationship may terminate it at any time. Play nicely.

Procedure:

Send a PM to Poetess Laureate stating what you want to be here as. Mentors will be paired with protégés and vice-versa. Please seek out critique from your writing mentor! This will help us stay organized and keep any specific person from becoming overworked.

is it possible to be both?
for teachers are students as well,
and one cannot teach,
without learning themselves,
else they know not of teaching quite well. surprised cool

Sort of. biggrin

This isn't just a workshop forum. The basis is to develop the actual relationship between mentor and pupil; a mentor should be devoted to helping their pupils improve in every way possible.

If someone wants that attention and feels willing (and is deemed 'able'), certainly someone could be assigned to them as a student as well. Sort of a student -- master -- grand master type thing, haha.

(That said, maybe move general concerns and questions to the general chat)
