My school is starting a SADD (students against destructive decisions) chapter. There was a general interest meeting today and I can honestly say I am extremely disappointed.
I was actually thinking of making some sort of psych. related club but this kind of covers it.
The girl in charge, I guess she went to the student assistance counselor and suggested starting it, has no idea what she is doing. All she thinks it's about is drugs and alcohol. Doesn't suicide and self injury sound destructive to you?
Not only that but I know for a fact she is one of those people who is a regular party goer and fools around with people of the opposite gender and drinks and hangs out with druggies (idk if she actually does drugs). I was willing to give her a chance when I walked in but I remained disappointed.
Then all these hoes got leadership positions because I couldn't make the meeting (something came up with my GSA). I want to complain to the club advisor about that because I am more qualified than off them combined.

When it comes to clubs or organizations started at a school I've learned not to expect much. Maybe you could create a list of things you think should change (along with explanations) and give it to the group leaders.

Is that what it stands for now? I thought it was Students Against Drunk Driving.
Meh, lots of people join clubs like that in high school just to look good to colleges.

If it's still something you want to participate in, maybe you can try being a club officer, and that way maybe you'll have more pull amongst the others and can expand the idea of the club.

It's all her friends that are officers and they don't even come to all of the meetings.
Funny story, there's a recent picture of the president of the club downing a bottle of vodka... on facebook. I really have an urge to print it and stick it in the counselor's mailbox with a few lines on why I think it's inappropriate behaviour for the officer of that club to engage in (not to mention that it's against the rules of the organization).
