My uncle fought in it, so when I try to argue about how I thought we shouldnt have done it (im against all wars, really) my mom jumps in and puts a stop to it pretty fast. I mean, protesting it is one thing, but I do not condone the spitting on the soldiers. My uncle was spat on. Im not sure if he was drafted or if he went on his own volition, but he risked his life and got repaid with spittle from some stranger.
But as most wars are, the us had to get involved even though it was quite a distance away. something about a threat to the world. I dont know my facts so I cant really say.

I was born long after the war...really long after...and like it was mentioned don't know much of my facts...just what we're "taught" at school. What I do know about this war is that it was pretty much a mess...something we couldn't get out of...something that sounds quite familiar now...and the protesters were not against the soldiers they were agains the war...why weren't they fighting? because they were against it obviously. And yes some of the things done to the soldiers were absolutley wrong...no matter wrong...some were there unvoluntarily...For example: my Jr. High Vice Principal remembers sitting in a table waiting with his frineds waiting for someone to get drafted and it was one of his best friends...(something of that sort)...he had no other choice. Some went because they wanted to serve their country, and that's great, it stil doesn't give anyone the right to spit one them and what not.
We say..."Oh lets learn from the past so that we learn from our mistakes", but do we? I don't think we really do, do we?

Yeah, well you see its a bit hazy why we HAD to get involved in this war, someone may say well because it was a threat to the world or whatever, but of course they;re gonna say that. Now im against war pretty much, but I think it was definetly wrong to attack the soldiers for any reason. What they did was what I believe beyond what any man should have to do. I blame the war, not the soldiers.

I cant really discern wot happened in it cos in the last two weeks of school my two history classes tried to cram in world war I and II, the cold war, and vietnam so everything is jumbled in my head. @_@ I just dont think there was a purpose except that for some reason, if whichever korea wasnt communist was taken, then it was a threat to other countries over there, which would impede american trade and business and other such deals. When you rly look at it, we get involved to benefit or keep our standing, hardly ever to actually help out. i feel bad for the people that were drafted cos with nam no one rly gained anything. stuff remained as it was but with the cost of human lives.

History class all over again!
Besides since I'm Canadian, we don't learn about this. We learn about crap that happened in like 1612.
All I really know about this war is from what Forrest Gump has told me haha. Like obviously I know a bit more about it but I don't know huge facts about it or anything.
I'm just really against war and I don't see how killing innocent people being killed because of some other jerk who doesn't have to get his hands dirty.

V'Nam' was just as useless as the war we are having now.
I think that Iraq is turning into another V'Nam' only over oil which makes it more greedier.
V'Nam' was just a bad war and I guess people say that the war now is nothing like V'Nam' because they say 'Support The Troops' but other than that it is 'V'Nam just sad and shameful.

My father served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. If I were him, I would have moved to Canada or Mexico, but hell, that's just me. If I were a teen during that time, I'd definitely be in San Francisco, on the streets, with my peace-sign necklaces, guitar, and flowers every day, smoking weed or something.

War is a good thing, with out war you wont be living in a safe and strong economy. So day take the time to look around at all the things you have that where made because of some war, you will find alot of things.
