*steps softly into the subforum, footsteps echoing in the emptiness* Um... it's so deserted in here... I hope it's okay that I'm posting.. apologies if it's not okay...

I was watching the History channel the other day and a show came on about "Earth's black hole." Basically, some scientists were tossing around the idea of what causes the strange phenomena and disappearences in the Bermuda Triangle... and the conclusion they came to was that there is a black hole inside the Earth, in the Bermuda Triangle, that devours most anything that comes into its territory.

No doubt something weird occurs in the area... but a black hole just seems farfetched to me. I think it's more likely that the magnetic field is disturbed by all the volcanic rock in the area. And I don't claim to be very informed on the subject, but if there were a black hole inside our planet, wouldn't it have swallowed most if not all of the Earth already? What do you all think?

I think that theaory is totally bogus. How could a black hole be in the Bermuda Triangle without ripping the entire solar system apart. Nothing can escape a black hole once it's under the hole's influence. Considering a black hole is a collapsed star, how would it have gotten there in the first place? I do have my own theory from research about what may be causing the phenomenon, but I don't think it fits this topic. If you're open minded and really want to know what I think, PM me.

I don't think it's true. Just... doesn't work physically. At least I can't see how that would work.

I can't see how it would work either... though if some scientists actually believe this, they must have some real reasoning behind it... and of course tv documentaries don't go that in-depth with explanations of science. I really would love to know what it is... XD

I watched that same show. I must say it was interesting.. BUT... I don't think it's right. If my basic undertanding of what a black hole is is correct then I don't see how we could have one in the earth. But it was an interesting show none the less.

i could see how that could work like, and the bermuda triangel could be the earths weakest point.
