Note: My body has been hit by caffeine and I tend to ramble a bit after my fourth cup of coffee... That said:
Well, I was watching the season 3 DVD of Scrubs I got for my birthday, and I was heartbroken over how JD always wants what he can't have, and how, when he got Elliot, he didn't want her anymore.
Then I thought about how I want to get back with my ex, even though I will be able to see my girlfriend very soon, I don't really want to. Maybe it is because I know I can have her (my gf), and that she loves me and with my ex, she still lives in the town I used to live in, about 35 minutes away and I can't really have her. I mean we have so much in common, we both love the same music, we hate the same music for the same reasons, we both love the daily show and the Colbert Report, we make the same realizations in life, we love curb your enthusiasm, and think Seinfeld only has its moments, just like the rolling stones... I could go on, but I'm not going to...
Anyway I wanted to know if this is normal and I'm freaking over nothing because I have no idea what the hell is going on inside my head. I mean I was head over heels in love with my gf and i hated my ex but now I don't really care about my gf while I have pleasant feelings for my ex. I don't want to be like JD, well actually I do cause I want to be a doctor....
Discuss... please?

Honestly, I don't think you should act on your emotions unless you are 100% sure of your feelings. Wait a couple weeks to see how it turns out.
I've been in a relationship for 2 years, and I've had about 10 different guys I considered leaving my boyfriend for. It only lasted a week max, and afterwards it faded away.
So don't act on it. It may only be temporary.

If you only want your ex again because you can't have her, chances are if you ever got her again, you wouldn't want her anymore. Think about it long and hard first, chances are it was just brought about by that episode of Scrubs. confused

wow... thats.. confusing lol but yeah I agree with DaphNublet and MyLadyMandy just give it time it was probably just you remebering old times and thinking if you got back together with her you could have it all over again that happened to me with one of my ex's... he asked me out again and I didn't love him anymore but I thought I did after remembering memories... the relationship lasted a week neutral it was a waste of my time.

I think that the reason people want what they can't have is because they tend to idealize that thing in their own minds. Since you are never around that person it's easy to miss the good you shared with her, but if you ever got back together you would probably be reminded of why you broke up in the first place. All of the anoying habits that caused you two to part ways would be thrown right back into view. Also, there is the factor of hormones and how they make your average teenager a bit irrational. wink

This might be a phase? Just go blame Scrubs. Lol. Kidding, it's an awesome show.
Well, all I can say is... is what you're thinking logical? What about when you get together with your ex, won't you just lose interest in her too? And sometimes, it's bad to have a partner that's too similar to you.

I've felt that way too and you know what don't ruin the relationship you have now for one that has already been destroyed...

I just stuck to a diet of violent video games, loud music and flirting with a lot of chick friends to bury that old feeling of missing the ex.
