Yes. LSD definately deserves a topic of its own. I can't believe I'm the first one to make it! :O
I'll talk more about it in other posts, but it was definately a deciding factor when it came to the cultural revolution of the sixties, beginning with its discovery in 1938 by chemist Alfred Hofmann, to its testing in government organizations such as MKULTRA (look it up, it's scary), to the introduction to the public and the resulting hippie phenomenon.
I'm an acid nerd, but I've never tried it. I will, though only when the time is right. It's like loosing your virginity.

I was supposed to, but the guy who was selling went to jail.. >.> I don't even know who the guy was.
Hmm. I know that acid is sooo much cheaper than weed and shrooms, and it's definetly one of the coolest drugs out there. It's also extremely dangerous if you take too much, and you can get flashbacks. If it's anything like shrooms, then it's no surprise how people started saying psychadelic and stuff. Shrooms are super trippy, and you feel all cool and happy and wanting to float haha, and I'm sure acid is just a little scarier until you get used to the high.
oh.. I found out how to make LSD.. hahah. I'm definetly going to one day, haha
that's all I have to say about acid (until I finally trip on it!)

that's all I have to say about acid (until I finally trip on it!) Actually, the overdose level of acid for humans is ridiculously high (if there is one) and hits are a LOT lower than they were back in the sixties. However, with greater doses the trip becomes more extreme, so you are more likely to hurt yourself if you're unprepared or all alone. It's not like shrooms, in that it's waaaaaay stronger. What people don't seem to understand about LSD is that it's not the sensory effects that make it so remarkable, it's the mental hallucinations. My uncle Tony said something about it (he took it in 1968, though he doesn't know I know that); "It makes good better and bad people worse." And it's definately not for everybody. Flashbacks are a lot more uncommon than they're made out to be. The effects of shrooms and acid are a lot different...acid's not really something you can get 'used to'. It's completely unpredictable. It's not about the happiness and the floating....I've read hundreds of experiences written by users (check out erowid.org) and all of them say that the delusions were far stronger than the illusions/hallucinations. But yeah. And I'd double-check on what you said about knowing how to make it, because supposedly it's a difficult chemical process involving ergot and s**t (my uncle's a chemist, and has a book explaining how to make hundreds of different chemicals - some more legal than others - and LSD is one of them) Anyway, LSD should not be taken lightly by anyone's standards, except maybe those of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters... xp

This IS LAME!
How come every where you go people have to talk about inapropriate topics!?!?! Enough of it! Sure it was a thing of the sixies. Right on with history! But there is a thing called the law, and also your brain!
Go ahead and do drugs. You'll end up looking real ugly. (I should know) And no one is going to want to date you expect some heroin addict who will go to jail and bring you right along too!
edit: Trust me. Drugs AREN'T cool. They completely screw you up! even if you only try them once... you could die! It's only fun for a few minutes then you get back to reality and your either dead or in a jail cell...

edit: Trust me. Drugs AREN'T cool. They completely screw you up! even if you only try them once... you could die! It's only fun for a few minutes then you get back to reality and your either dead or in a jail cell... Please, be quiet, dear. xP LSD was one of the most important aspects of the 1960s, and its existance cannot be ignored. It was a revolutionary drug that influenced politics, music, culture, art, society, and psychology in a way that no other drug ever has. LSD, unlike so many other drugs, has no lasting physical effects and is not addictive. When used with caution and intelligence, it can improve - which is pretty much unique to it. Also, an acid trip can last around eight hours, and the memories and/or lessons from the trip can last a lifetime. Rarely, you can get flashbacks a few months after use, but there's painfully little known about them. LSD is extremely dangerous, but not in the same way as other drugs. It was not made illegal in the USA until 1967 because they could find nothing inherently wrong with it, long after it had left its first mark on society. Even now, it is extremely hard to test for, considering it is entirely metabolized by your body after less than a day (though it's often claimed that it stays in your body forever, particularly by Scientologists, but that's false). The effects of LSD can potentially cause severe mental distress if you go on a bad trip, but there are precautions you can take to prevent that sort of thing. NEVER take LSD when you're alone; always have someone to watch over you and make sure you don't do anything stupid. NEVER take LSD when you're going through turbulent times (such as a relative dying or other stressful s**t) as that will often cause a bad trip. NEVER take LSD in a bad enviroment, either; make sure you're safe. NEVER take LSD if you have some sort of mental disorder, especially schizophrenia. And, of course, never get drugs from someone you can't trust to give you what you ask for. "The drug is almost completely eliminated from the body before the peak effects begin, suggesting that it acts as a sort of catalyst, inducing neurochemical changes which subsequently result in the entheogenic experience." - Pharmacotheon ^That's something I've always been really interested in. It implies that it's not actually the acid that causes the 'trip', but instead only stimulates the brain to do what it was already capable to do. So it's you, not the drug...I actually started a novel inspired by that thought....

xp i wouldn't wanna do anything that could that could take control over my mind like that but if others wanna do it thats their decision. Different strokes for different folks!
"A hippie is supposed to be someone who becomes aware, you're hip if you know whats going on. But if you're really hip, you don't get involved with LSD and things like that. Yu see the potential that it has and the good that can come from it, but you see that you don't really need it"--George Harrison

mmm.
I personally think that drugs should be a necissary experience. It's seriously life-changing.
and they really don't ruin your life, since no one will ever start off shooting up, so its not like you try something once and you are immedietly addicted. Plus, mary jane isn't addictive, and neither is acid, or shrooms, so unless you go hardcore to coke or meth, you've got no worries.
and please, dear, don't put down drug users so. My dad does, and he married a wonderful woman I like to call Mom, who isn't a heroin addict, never went to jail. She actually teaches little children and is an active part of the community. My sisters do drugs too, and they are both gorgous. One works at a bar and can make over $300 a day, and you can't do that without a pretty face.
I'm not looking to start a fight or anything, because I hate fighting with people about this, but I kinda wanted to get that out there, because it was sorta ignorant to say that.
and yeah, LSD was definetly the biggest impact on the 60s anyways.

Actually, my grandparents had a bridge buddy who died over a year ago after having emphysema for years from smoking. And cancer is very sad as well. sad But I can't say anything about LSD.

Cigarettes and alcohol are a lot worse for you than marijuana (well, hash, that is; smoking it is just as bad as cigarettes when it comes to lung damage, but that's smoke for you). I've never actually done any drugs, but I'm fascinated by them anyway. razz Both neurologically/psychologically and user-wise.
