I got an idea when I was just hacking away today. We need to come up with a commendation system for our guild to recognize contributers and just great people within our guild. Well, not that we are not all great, cause I think we are, at least, everyone who communicates in the guild.
Well, I was mulling it over and at first I thought about like a monthly gold prize but then we would have to do fund-raising, committee, a new treasury and stuff like that. It is a lot of work and it might stimulate jealously and greed, because money is the root of all evil. But, I guess it is still on the table.
The next idea I had was some kind of item, but this has the same implications as gold and what if the person did not want to wear it? Also, since it would require gold to fund, there would need to be a strict set of rules to awards. So, I didnt like this idea either.
Now here is the idea that I do like. I was thinking about creating either a title system or just a recognition thread to commend guildsmen on their participation, style, personality or whatever sets them apart as a person in our community. Now, to keep things organized, I think we would have to have members nominate other members (but not themselves of course) by submitting a form to a guild captain for analysis (if a captain is the subject, then submit to another captain), and to write up the commendation, then post it in the commendation thread. Then you would have a title and a little self-esteem boosting paragraph about yourself for others to read.
Now I have come up with a format and I am going to write two up now, so you know what I mean. Let me know what you think. Captains, if this does catch on, I will need your help. I will only be in charge of this if that is the consensus. It was my idea, but I dont viciously guard it. ^^

She was the one that brought us all together, but it took more than that to create a place with life and substance. This guy here, this is the guy. In the role-plays and in our community in general, Monkey has always been there to give an idea or participate in another. He has used his means to help create fantasy with others and a place to escape, the boring and the ordinary. OKay, let me know if anyone has any format ideas and stuff too. I just hope that this is a good idea. If not though, I will desist and let it go to the abyss. I just dont want to do it all by myself.

I can see how this would easily get out of hand, tho'. And also make people upset if they didn't get the title they wanted or thought they deserved. I don't think it would be a good idea to have any kind of recognition system.
But that's just me.

That was the point of the idea. Even if the idea doesnt go through, at least I can make one person feel good. And I meant all of that too, in case you had any doubts. smile

Jason makes a good point about competition--- though I honestly think that we should have a forum strictly for people telling others postives about them. What you said meant a lot to me- it was really sweet- thanks Ninja.
^-^ Plus- there's something I could say about every active member here- and being recognized so- might make others feel more welcome, you know?

I think that is a good idea Pearl. I just started with you two because you were on my mind more when I came up with the idea. I dont think that it has to be an award of sorts. Just a thread, I didnt mean a forum for such. So then that is three pro one con?
