So, when did you first start getting into the Monkees? I'd say I was always pretty aware of them (I mean, who's never heard I'm A Believer?), but I didn't start really liking them until recently when my mom ordered the show for us. Once I started learning more about the four band members, I started liking the music more.

As I stated, I'm an Elder, 41. They have pretty much always been in my consciousness. I am not sure if I saw the shows first run (I would have been really young) or just in re-runs as a kid.

I first heard The Monkees when I was two years old, watching the music video to Daydream Believer on MTV.

I'm not too far behind you wing. I'm 36. I started liking The Monkees when the 3kees (Micky, Davy and Peter) did the reunion tour in '86. My bf at the time liked them and slowly got me into them. Now, I'm sure I'm more obsessed that she originally was lol The only thing that sucked is at that time, our home had basic tv. Just the major networks. No Nickelodeon, Disney Channel or MTV (which all 3 showed the Monkees one time or another).

I am only 16 and I heard of it from my dad when he got the first season from the library. Now I have both seasons and six CDs. I love it. It's funny because a lot of adults are surprised by my knowledge of the Monkees.

It's funny because a lot of adults are surprised by my knowledge of the Monkees. That's a lot like what happened with me! My mom started getting the show for my sis and I and then we started getting really into the music. It's too bad that not a lot of people our age like them, though.

ive always known them i just didnt become aware of them until recently when my mom bought a cd and i recognized some songs. I dont rly have much in terms of the monkees cos my enormous obsession lies within George Harrison and therefore the Beatles but I have free use of my moms cd and a record titled the monkees or something similar to that.

I first started to like them when I saw "Royal Flush" around last October. I liked them more and more after each episode, and I eventually got both seasons on DVD. I watch at least an episode a day now. mrgreen

I first heard the Monkees on the radio. I remeber thinking it was a great song, but I had no clue how to track down the song. A friend of mine gave me a Monkees best of CD downloaded off of iTunes. I've been listening to it ever since. heart

Wow, this is new, I'm not the oldest! I've been spending so much time on Danny Phantom forums lately where I'm the eldest, it's nice to see people my age and older. I'm a ripe old 27 1/2 (getting close to my 28th! smile )
I don't even remember how exactly I found them initially, I was pretty little! I still have my first album, it's a greatest hits LP that came out sometime in the early 80s from what I can gather. I listened to a lot of my parents' LPs but this one my parents insist I found myself. I also watched reruns.
But it wasn't til 1997 when VH1 started showing the series that I really got back into it and moved up to obsession level. I have a box set of the entire series on VHS...not that I'm entirely sure where those are. There's like 30 tapes smile But I do want to get the DVDs, then I can watch the show a little more often.

Well I'm 19 and when I was young I was into backstreet boys and N sync and the like and vh1 was like this is the original boy band and it showed commercials to the autobiographical movie, I automatically fell in love soon after that.

I was around 11 when I first heard them. It was the show that attracted me first. I didn't really get big into them until I met a friend who is a huge fan. biggrin
