 "What kind of a sick b*****d goes commando underneath another man's robe?!"Henry is a retired police officer who raised his son, Shawn Spencer to utilize his gifts of eidetic memory to hone his powers of observation. Henry disapproves of his son's choice to be a "Psychic Detective", but is secretly proud of his his son's investigational skills. He appears to be keeping a collection of newspaper articles concerning Shawn's exploits. Although he states a number of times throughout the series that he does not wish to, he has helped Shawn with cases when he is in need of help.
For reasons yet unknown to us, he seems to greatly dislike dogs. Henry also dislikes Shawn's motorcycle (even tipping off the police about his son's illegal parking, leading to the motorcycle being impounded), at least partly due to an accident that Shawn had on a motorcycle.

I love how well he's been developed after episode when. Well, to me, anyway... But in the first ep, I thought he was evil or something. Now he's one of my favorite characters.

I love the episode where Gus is telling that girl that Henry's house is his house and Henry barges in "Sorry kids I've just gotta baste my turkey" and then he comes back with the little basty thingy and goes outside and Gus tells the girl he's his roommate... ^ ^

I love how Shawn and his dad mesh. It's not a totally bad thing when they do and it usually leaves me laughing. whee

Although Shawn's become the two things Henry hates most, he still loves his son and is proud he's solving all the cases. heart
Otherwise, why would he help him?
