Have you read them? What do you like, love or dislike about the books?

I've been looking at some of Katherine Kerr's books for months. Every time I get close to buying one, I see a book that I want more, or that I've been waiting for, or something. Then when I'm going to get one, the bookstore doesn't have the first book in the series. So, I'd like to know now: How are the books, in your opinions? Any major, really annoying flaws? Also, which one is the first book in the series? I can't remember if I figured it out or not. n.n"

She's made the novels into acts, here's the order:

Act One: the Deverry books proper
Daggerspell
Darkspell
The Bristling Wood (Dawnspell)
The Dragon Revenant (Dragonspell)

Act Two: The Westlands
A Time of Exile
A Time of Omens
Days of Blood and Fire (A Time of War)
Days of Air and Darkness (A Time of Justice)

Act Three: The Dragon Mage
The Red Wyvern
The Black Raven
The Fire Dragon
The Gold Falcon
The Spirit Stone

I myself love the books and the way she interweaves the timelines(though it took a bit to appreciate that). My favourites would be the the dragonmage set. I haven't read the spirit stone yet because it hasn't come out in the smaller version here yet(though I've read the first few pages).

I hope when you eventually get round to reading them you'll enjoy ^-^

'Kay, so, go figure. I was looking for Daggerspell at Borders today. And they didn't have it.

heh heh poor you!

but you don't have to start at the start you could begin with any of the acts and go back later, but that depends on how you prefer to read a series >.<

<.< As much as possible, I like to go in order with a series. Besides, they only had one book by her at the time, I think. I can't remember the title of it, but that was the only one I saw.

Fair enough, maybe you could ask them to order it in >.<

I'm too lazy. One of these days, I have to go to the Borders by my mom's house. There are two that about the same distance away from the house, and I could take the same bus to go to either one. One of these days, I'll do it. After checking to see if they have the book in stock.

I've read all of Katherine Kerr's books. I found them great, if a little boring towards the end. Like i found the golden falcon to be a slight let down.. just because i'd been waiting for it for so long i was hoping it would have so much in it. But it had hardly anything.. mostly tihngs i already knew repeated. I love her style of multiple lives and the way she twists and turns through out the storey but for some they don't like it. I've been trying to get my dad to read them and after the first book he hated them because he couldn't keep track of it all and who was who. He needs to give it a bit more of a chance but i can agree with his point. I have to go to the back and check a bit who is who again. ;x

Hope i haven't ruined it for people. A good read 3nodding Nice twists and turns, always guessing not much repetition. And some really out there ideas.. Which is great to find.

I just noticed that you have The spirit stone on your list as well. That hasn't come out here yet. At least I don't think it has.. As the Golden Falcon only just came out here. I'll have to go to the book store tomorrow.. Thanks for putting the list!

Here Deverry stories are very well done and totally great reads.

The only negative thing I could possibly say is that there are so darn many books in the series, that I find myself losing track of who is who and how certain characters connect back to one another.

I really like her system of magic, though, where there are elementals around that can be talked into doing things for the sorcerers.
