All right, I'll make the first post. I'm Aya, Celsie, or whichever mule account I'm on, I suppose. Celsie seems easiest, as it's my primary username. I created the username, and I have an excessive amount of mules, which helped me to generate the funds for this guild.
I've been reading and therefore writing since six or seven years old. A second grade project was to write and illustrate our own book. While it was incredibly horrible, and no one besides VERY close friends will ever so much as look at it, I still have it, I'm still proud of it, and sentimental towards it.
I'm a graduate with an associate's degree, taking a year off to adjust to being married. I intend on studying creative writing (English) and education at university next fall, though I'm not sure if that will be in Oregon or Texas yet.
I have studied with Lidia Yuknavitch, met Chuck Pahluhniuk(bet you ten bucks he doesn't remember me), and corresponded with Jane Yolen.
The first series I got addicted to as a child was Madeleine L'engle's Murray series, starting with A Wrinkle in Time.
I have five or six writing projects that I attempt to work on at any given point. Parts of those will be revealed in the critiques sub forum when it's created.
I enjoy dancing, listening to music many people consider strange, and making movies run at my local theater.
I also suck at making gold. All right, I believe that's all for now. Sorry if it sounded stuck up, I just wanted to explain who I was.

Hmm, hi there~ I'm Mar, but you can just call me Schay. I'm eighteen and I'm starting senior year in HS in about two weeks. As such, I may or may not b***h a lot about college searching, so excuse me if I do. <,<;
I've been reading since I was about five; but I've only been reading in English since I was about seven, because English is my second language. I've been writing since I was eight.
I've met Patricia McCormick and Jordan Sonnenblick, and several NJ poets who have visited my school for a poetry festival.
Currently, my favorite book is "The Inferno" by Dante Alighieri; and I'm working my way through the rest of the 'Divine Comedy' as well.
Hmm... writing wise... I guess what I write can best be described as uber-angst, psychosis, and gore. My favorite subject seems to be children who are abused or young people with severe personality disorders. Honestly, lots of people find it disturbing, so if I ever share anything on here I'll make sure to put a warning up, I guess. I try my hand at fantasy, too; but that doesn't seem to work out, ever. >.<
Oh, and last year was the first time I actually got committed to NaNoWriMo. It was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to this year's, as well. :3

Exciting! I write rather violent, psychotic stuff sometimes, too. I'm told it's quite good, but it rather frightens me when it comes out. I couldn't sleep last night because I had to write about a foot and a thunderstorm. And no, it doesn't make any more sense in it's entirety. xd
Writing about children and teenagers gives you a lot more freedom with character changes and revelations. I recently discovered that I will be perpetually writing about kids in their late teens because they're typically in turmoil, trying to figure out what the term adult means and if it's actually okay to still be immature, or a kid still.
That didn't really explain what I meant very well. Children and teenagers are figuring out reality and their own senses of self and their environments. They don't have a fixed perception of life that has been set in concrete by their jobs and loved ones. They are constantly testing their limits, learning how things work. I really like that in characters. The younger the character, the slighter the conditions have to be to have major turning points. I don't have to kill people for a child to realize that something is wrong.
Oh, and I know that there are at least three counterpoints to my statement, at least. biggrin Had to share.
Also looking forward to NaNo! I've had two bad years of not passing the finishing line, but I'm hoping to change that this year!
If you don't mind me asking, what is your first language?

Oh, I like putting younger children in traumatic conditions. In writing, of course, not in real life. Most of my MCs have some hideously painful childhoods... [and hate me for it.] When I write about them in their teenage years it's usually about them remembering these things. I don't know... In its simplest explanation, my writing is like a prose form of JTHM. I think this is because ultimately I want to describe the process of dissociation; I'm almost stupidly fascinated by the condition. Of course, I always end up taking lots of liberties with it. >.<
I do understand what you mean, though: Writing about young adults definitely offers a lot in terms of character development; you can do a lot of moral and just general growth with characters in this age group, that's just their nature.
I finished NaNo last year and I was so psyched. It was a little embarrasing. I still have the little certificate up on my wall and everything. I was all "Ohyeah, look at me, I'm so awesome for doing this." XD I got to write an article about it for my school newspaper, too, so that was cool. :3
And my first language is Russian; but at this point my command of English is much better. >.<
Oh and, just a note. I'm going on vacation for a week starting tomorrow; so I won't be posting anything. I'll try to get more active once I come back. School will start, so I'll have homework to avoid, lol.

Oh goody, an opportunity to ramble about myself!
I'm a selfcentered fourteen year old with a knack/curse of writing 'romantic comedies'. I don't do "dark" often, or at least stories revolving around gore/abuse because only whiny brats are featured in those. Who actually focuses on the negative all the time? Annoying characters, that's who. I will BITE someone who says comfortable lives are unrealistic.
Normally I write novella fanfictions but won't bother anyone here with those. I do some original short stories as well.
Also, I have a very short temper but I'm a compassionate person x]

You've got a very strong personality. Very nice to see.
I've done romantic a lot, not so much the comedy. I have a character or two that I can pull it off with well, but it's hard to randomly create a new, original character who pulls off comedy, without being heavily drawn from the first two.
Stories that focus or are based around abuse or gore can be written for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, it's an extension of the writing release. Sometimes, it's a genre preference, just as you enjoy romantic comedy.
Discomfort exists because people remember what comfort was, or what they believe it was.
I'm happy to see that you're branching out from fanfiction. Those experiences lead you to explore original ideas, new settings, and character changes, or even maintaining the same character's same personality.

Quick, random introduction before school. <3
I'm Namimon, but most usually call me Nami because it's easier. I started reading... when I learned to read. biggrin My favourite childhood author was Roald Dahl (BFG!) and I still enjoy some of his adult short stories.
I've also been writing ever since I learned to write, but my writing is usually scattered. I'll create the first few pages of a story, then it will sit on my computer for years. Sometimes upon rediscovery, I rewrite the first few pages after some brief inspiration, but it ends up the same way in the end.
My genre for reading is normally science fiction, but I started out with fantasy. Well, Xanth to be specific. razz But after Xanth, all other fantasy seemed boring. My stories usually have a fantasy setting, but I have a few sci-fi themes floating around in my head.
Writing, for me, is more exploring a theme or concept than telling a story. -shrug-
I also have a lot of trouble organizing my thoughts most of the time, so my stories are usually choppy. XD After a lot of revision, though, they start to be pretty decent. :3

I like that. "Writing, for me, is more exploring a theme or concept than telling a story." I really enjoy that viewpoint on writing. You come up with interesting concepts that way. And, even the best stories can benefit from revision.
Glad to have you in the guild, and welcome!
