Alright, so here's the deal. If you read the other sticky (effectively titled "Forum Descriptions"), you'll understand what this contest is pretty much about; if not, go read it now, because I'm not rewriting it blaugh .
Now then...writing out stories for the forums is very hard and tedious work, and I simply can't do it all by myself (though I'll be doing a good chunk of it by myself). I have other writing commitments to get to, and I can't spend the rest of my life juggling projects. So that's why I've decided to hold a writing contest for all of the guild members to write out a room description for each part (sub-forum) of the guild. Out of a list below, you may choose one (or a few; there's no limit to the number you may do) to write a description for, then post in this thread and tell me which you are doing.
---
Rules -
- All submissions must be within two to five paragraphs in length. - They must be written in a "second-person" point of view (example: "You walk into the hall and find it very long."). - Proper grammar and spelling isn't necessarily required, but appreciated. - "Stories" are to be submitted to this thread, where I will judge them. - Any number of people can do a story for a sub-forum; only one will be chosen, however. - Descriptions must follow the theme for the room that I'll provide you with. - There is no entry fee. - Winners will receive 500 gold as a reward, in addition to having their room description being put up. - I reserve the right to choose none if I feel they are all inadequate (which is unlikely). - The deadline for the contest is Saturday, August 19th, 2007, at 12:00 PM U.S. Pacific Time.
Unavailable Rooms -
I will be doing the following descriptions:
- Main Hall - Surreal Dimension - Divine Coliseum - Celestial Auditorium - Sacred Meadow - Museum of Reflection
Available Rooms -
- Grand Theatre - Garden Emporium - Marketplace of Thought - Ballot Room - Twilight Gallery - Arcade Room
Room Themes -
All of the following rooms must have a sort of surreal, fantasy feel to them.
- Grand Theatre: I'll leave this one up to all of you. (I may choose to do this one, myself). - Garden Emporium: A large, stone courtyard enclosed by white trellises littered with vines and flowers of all kinds, pots of assorted plants spread about, and a large, five-tier fountain in the middle. - Marketplace of Thought: Again, this one shall be determined by the size of your imaginations. - Ballot Room: Think of this one as a voting room. I'll also leave the imagination up to whoever wishes to do this one. - Twilight Gallery: A spacious, circular gallery with blank canvases hanging along the walls and storage cupboards with every art supply an artist could need (give examples). Several doors in the walls lead to doors that open to reveal work stations, each of different sizes, but all containing windows. The main room has a skylight. Outside, the sun is setting, producing the orange glow of twilight. - Arcade Room: A lounge-like room containing several depressions with couches in a semi-circle facing a plasma-screen TV, all manner of video game consoles set up, music playing softly in the background, and...anything else you'd think should be in a lounge.

Ok the ballot room
You walk down a long hallway and enter a large room with lots of guests lounging around. In the center of the room are three people. A man and two woman. The man yells, "Red is the greatest color ever!" The first woman argues, "No blue is the best!" The other woman yells, "No! Green trumps all!" The man yells, "Yeah right! I bet you everyone in this room would vote red!" "You wish!" said the first woman. "Blue will get all the votes.
The second woman said, "How about we put it to a vote?" "Fine!" the other two barked at her. They cut up tons of little papers and got a hat. "Ok!" the man yelled. "Everyone right down your favorite color out of blue, green, or the absolute greatest, red!" The people voted for their colors and so the room became known for holding a vote.
I'll do more later. And most of mine will contain this humerous theme to them.

[[Four hours early and unfinished...oh well....]]
[[This is Grand Theatre by the way.]] Upon entering, you find yourself standing onstage, an almost-too-bright light shining down on you. After looking around, you see that the stage wraps around the entire length of the room. The ceilings were vaulted, and a chandelier was hanging directly over the center of the room, casting light over every inch of the stage. The stage dropped off several feet ahead of you into black oblivion. As far as you could tell, there was no audience. From over 100 yards away, you could see the far wall. It depicted a great battle, and angels swooping down from the heavens. Upon further investigation, you saw that it covered all of the walls, even the entire expanse of ceiling.
Once you recovered from your awe, you began to notice the people around you. There were a lot of them, and there were several moderately sized groups spread out over the stage. Each area had it’s own ‘terrain’, one having large sand dunes, another area was filled with trees. What was more amazing was what seemed to be clouds over some of the areas, either blocking the light or thundering dangerously while dumping water on its inhabitants. One area even seemed to be experiencing a tornado, but you noticed that the other groups remained oblivious to anything and everything else going on around them. -Tomo Shikura
