Okay, this is the first place you should post. Just pop in to introduce yourself, say hi, maybe say something about yourself if you want.

My name's Annetia, I'm 15 (16 in a few weeks), female (obviously), I live in England, so all of the times mentioned in my contests will be in London time. I like reading, writing, drawing, etc. I'm the founder of the surprisingly popular Weekly Paragraph Contest. I'm eternally grateful to several people, including Zenai_Metos for supplying some excellent banners, and Marael, Sylvesterine and Imaginary Illusion for making donations towards the 20,000 gold fee for setting up the guild.

Hey there all! I'm from New England, in the USA. (Not gunna be specific about the state)... and yeah! I love to write, but I joined Gaia cause my friends got me into it. Finding out there were writing contests was just a bonus.
Uhm, I'm 16 and a 1/2, and yeah. biggrin I like to write, but I've been lazy about it and need to kick my butt into gear!

We're all lazy about writing. Which is why groups like this, and book writing circles if you're writing something big, are all good for us.

Welcome.

My name is Kim. I live on the East Coast in USA. I'm 15, I'll be 16 in a few months. My friends got me into gaia. I love to read, write, draw, and dance. I'm writing a book, and I hope to have it published around my senior year in High School. I really love anime and manga and my previous dream was to be a vet, now it's to design video games like FF and KH.

Hey there Kim.
Welcome, and good luck with the book. What genre is it?

Fiction/Fantasy. It's about Vampires ^^

Awesome.. If you ever need any proof reading/critique. I'll be happy to help. Obviously you can't post anything publicly because that damages your position upon finding a publisher.

But i'd be happy to give you an email or something. Fantasy is also my genre, but I've done a lot of conceptual work too..

So If I were to post it on a site, like fictionpress, that would hurt my chances of getting it published???

Well, it really depends on how much of it you had posted on the site.

Laws of publishing basically state that if something is publicly accessible on the internet, it is officially published.

So by placing something on the internet, you're publishing it yourself.

If something is already there to read for free... The benefits to a publisher kind of disappear, which is why most writer's forums have threads to discuss creating circles. These are basically groups of people who're all writing books of the same genre, they pass their material privately between themselves, so that they can gain critique from each other without making it publicly accessible.

If you've got something out there publicly.. I suggest you ask those forum owners to delete whatever you have published through their websites.

Hello everyone! ^_^ I'm Stephanie, but you can call me Yumi (my on-line name) or Asira (the avi's name) too. I don't care which. I'll know who you're talking to. To clearify, yes I am a girl, but I just like the male avatar. ^_^ I make him look cute.

You guys all make me feel old. lol I'm 18, and will be 19 in November. I live in Ohio, and I'm currently attending college at Ohio State University. Yay college. sweatdrop I'm a Japanese major, but writing's always been my passion (yeah...cause those two are related rolleyes ).

I too write fantasy. I made an attempt at a Sci-Fi ish story at one point but like all the others I kind of stopped writing it. I love it to death, but it didn't get worked on. That's what I always do. I start things, plan them all out, then never finish them. Oh well. ^_^ As a side note I write slash too... ^^ And I guess that's enough about me. 4laugh

Don't worry about it Kim,

another small suggestion i might make while we're on this topic, if you're looking for some really serious and mature critique, from circles of people who're published and experienced hobby writers. I'd suggest getting onto the writers digest forums.

There's a plethora of well known authors who're regular there, all hiding under pen names to keep some anonymity.

You'll gain some much valued experience from the good people over there.

Welcome Steph/Yumi/Asira, hmm i might just nickname you SYA instead rolleyes

Motivation is always the hardest part of writing a full story, i'm assuming it was to be a Novelette/Novel..

We wouldn't really be Novelists if we actually FINISHED most of our works now would we though? So don't feel to bad about it.. The purpose of getting to know other writers is to gain some motivation and pushing from them.

That's where i come in whee

Hello there! I'm Kakks from California. whee I feel just a bit old after hearing all of your ages. I'm 20, and a lazy college kid majoring in Poli Sci. I've only recently started writing again, but hardly anything that continues and has actual plot. sweatdrop
