First off, let me say thank you for stopping into my thread. Losing weight is very important to me for not only my overall health, but confidence. You taking the time to stop is shows that the members of this guild really DO care. Thank you. I would like to ask that if anyone wants to respond to a specific weight entry or a specific journal entry, please quote the first two lines. That way, I know which entry or entries you're referring to.


.:How This Will Work:.


I will have this thread broken up into 3 different sections. Section One will be the Weekly Inspiration Log. For each week I weigh in I will post a new Daily Inspiration. Section Two will have my weight tracker. I will try and weight in every Sunday with whatever my current weight is. Hopefully.. it will be good! Section Three will be my Weekly Journal. Here I'll post how things are going for me, other than just my weight number.

We as people are plagued with advertising saying we NEED these foods. We CANT eat only one. But the reality is, we don't focus on what we're eating. Only that we are eating. We sit in front of the TV and because w're hungry we shovel food into our mouths not really thinking about how it tastes since it's only there for a minute. Whenevr I feel like I want those potato chips, or that candy bar, or whatever the case may be. I think about this little thing I did. And I remember why I go so log without ever wanting another..



Take one single potato chip, whatever your favorite brand is. Sit down in a room with no noise and place the chip in front of you. Look at it. What colors does it have? What shape does it have?

Now pick it up and look at it. How does it feel between your fingers? Does it have a smell? What does it smell like?

Now, place the potato chip on your tongue- but don't chew! Let the flavors sit there for a minute or two. As the chip rests in your mouth, how does it taste? Is it salty? Mushy? Greasy? Let it break down some and get to the root of the food. What does it taste like now?

Next time, try eating an orange. Or an apple. Or some fresh carrots. How does the potato chip taste now?

Well, here I go! Off on my new weight loss journey. I know I can be at a better (not to mention healthier) weight than this. I'm at the point in my life where it's now or never. I feel like if I don't start now, I"ll never lose the weight. I'm starting off strong with a walk and a bowl of Kashi cereal and rice milk. I think for my morning snack I'll have some frozen mango chunks. After that I don't know. Either way I know this is going to be hard. Losing almost 50lbs is a big task. But I'm trying to set little goals for myself. Like when I make it to the 170 mark, I'll have some vanilla frozen yogurt as a reward. Healthy and oh-so-delicious. It's like my beloved ice cream, only better! I've struggled so much with weight issues and things of that nature. I've never been this big though. My boyfriend says he loves me and finds me attractive regardless, but he supports me if it means a healthier image of myself. I hope, that if I can start losing weight he will, too. He's not a huge guy but he could prolly stand to lose a few too wink Even he admits it. Maybe if I can get going he'll be inspired and we can do it together. We'll see.. wink

It sounds like you are off to a good start. I agree that you should chop it up into mini goals because it will help you stay focused and not be so overwhelmed. Keep reminders of why you want to lose weight around to keep motivation lasting all day as well. Good luck!
