✖✖✖| |:----------------- There was first a thread about just one series of books. So I thought that it would be great to talk about all sorts of books!
Talk about anything book related here!

Alright, I'll start this off...The Seventh Tower! Anyone? Read it? Love it? ...hate it? stare
Actually this is one of those 'really hard to understand at first' types of series. It's about this kid and his parents are high-ups in this community which live in a castle-ish-thing. The castle has seven towers, each with their own colour jewel (I believe) and the castle is basically standing in the middle of a sheet of endless ice. But no one really cares, because they're inside, y'know wink
Well anyways, I believe there are assassination attempts and corruption going on involving his parents and so he escapes...to the outside O_O Onto the ice where all these creatures try to kill him, where he is then picked up by some people from a clan who live outside on the ice and is then taken back to their HQ.
Henceforth his adventure begins, trying to get back into the castle, solve the mystery of what's going on, and the secret behind those creepy shadows. It's a story of adventure, fear, death, deceit, betrayal, love, friendship and comraderie. Can this young boy save the world that he's known all his life?
(Forgive my summary, I read this series years ago and I may have forgotten/mixed up some details ^^')
Even my friend who hates reading has actually finished this series (without any prompting from me, may I add)

✖✖✖| |:----------------- I've never heard of those books but they sound very interesting..
And Roachy, what are the series that you are talking about about? =o
One of my favorite books is I am David by Anne Holm. It is about a boy who has lived in a concentration camp all his life. He doesn't know anything about his life, where he comes from, his parents nothing. Then the escapes from the camp and he discovers a whole new world. The story is based around that.

hobosly Honestly, the movie is nothing like the book...well maybe a tad *holds fingers less than a millimetre apart* at the beginning. Yes, I do agree that it would be the best course of action...hmmmm maybe you should watch the movie first so you won't find it disappointing and the book will just be much better!! biggrin It's a series by Emily Rodda, and yes, it's childish (well in size at least -_-) The books are around 127 pages, with the occasional illustration (there are a lot of puzzles that the characters have to solve, but you get a chance to do it first cool -Yes it's childish! scream ) The text is midway between regular novels and large-print, so the book aren't THAT long, but there's a lot of them. And then when you finish those...well I won't spoil the surprise wink (On the other hand The Troy Game is 4 books of around 600 pages each, and fairly small font ^^) lol Yay! I've errr...coerced/suggested/hypnotized you into wanting to read them blaugh lol I'm gonna post in there right after this cool *joins in your off-topic-ness >.<* Ugh! Stupid conversions!! Well ever since I saw this topic I've wanted to check out those books 3nodding I just haven't gotten around to returning my own library books yet sweatdrop Nuu!! gonk How could they end it like that?! lol I feel the same way about mine ^^ ...but that's why I made the Archive. You can just post all of your favourite books there and then discuss them in the Book Discussion thread biggrin Okay *jots down notes* I'll remember to check out those books when I go to the library next, which should be fairly soon, as I need to return the rest of They Troy Game... emo ✖✖✖| |:----------------- I have moved our conversation to this thread now. ^^ I will let the other one be for the Twilight Series.. ><
I am not sure that I will see the movie before the book... I do not really like seeing movies before I have read the book/s. I know that the movie/s aren't exactly like the book/s, but the ending and plot is still pretty same. If I see the movie first, I will know how the book ends, and there is no fun is that. >< I will read the book, watch the movie, and then be mad for the movie not being good enough. xD
Childish? =o I've read a lot of childish book, and I actually liked them more then some of the other books! xp Anyways, the books sound pretty interesting. I love puzzles! xD Wow, the books are really short in length. o.o I personally prefer long books. ^^ The troy game has that many pages? o.o Wow! I am sure that I would love to read that!!
Yes you have hypnotized me!! >< And you shall pay!! *attempts an evil laugh but chokes* >> When I do read the books I will let you know if I liked them. >w<
You lost me after you joined the off topic-ness. You can be pretty confusing at times.. You know that? ~(>.<)~

One of my favourite authors is Meg Cabot and I love all her books! Some of her great series include the Princess Diaries, the Mediator (loved this one) and the 1-800-Where-R-You series. (Loved this one too) They're all sorta romantic but I loved them all.. ^^

M'kay ^^ lol Yeah....actually the ending is completely differenet sweatdrop COMPLETELY!!!! Not even a shadow of the book gonk Yeah, I prefer long books too but...but...it's so good!! whee Even though the books are short there's 16 so it still has a decent length for a series, plus the plot intertwines so well and reconnects at different points in the series. Plus after the series there's this other book you read and it explains everything O_O (Basically it tells the story, before the story...) Now I'm scared that you won't like them crying *pats you on the back to stop your choking* lol rofl I do cool Actually I was just basically saying that I'd check out the Twilight Series when I go to return The Troy Game ^^
