being in chaos

releasing
exploding
having an emotional outburst
erupting in anger
crashing through ego defenses
breaking through pretense
letting everything go

falling down
being humbled
experiencing a crash
toppling from the heights
having a downturn in fortune
suffering a blow to the ego

having a revelation
suddenly realizing the truth
exposing what was hidden
having a burst of insight
seeing through illusions
getting the answer
seeing everything in a flash

The Tower is an unsettling card. Fire, lightning, falling on jagged rocks - definitely looks like trouble! Card 16 will not be welcomed by those who dislike change. It represents a sudden, dramatic upheaval or reversal in fortune. Usually change is gradual, giving us time to adapt, but sometimes it is quick and explosive. This is the action of the Tower.

In films, the hero sometimes slaps someone who is groggy or babbling. Having tried everything else, he finally resorts to a sharp sting to snap him out of it. Sudden crises are life's way of telling you to wake up. Something's wrong, and you're not responding. Are you too full of pride? Expect a blow to your ego. Are you holding back your anger? Expect the dam to burst. Are you stuck in a rut? Expect a surprise.

How you respond to the Tower's change makes all the difference in how uncomfortable the experience will be. Recognize that the disruption occurred because it was needed. Perhaps embracing the change is too much to ask, but try to find the positive in it. In fact, you may feel tremendous release that you have finally been forced in a new direction. You may have a burst of insight about your situation and reach a new level of understanding about it.

I'm glad yall like it.
I was doing a tarot reading on myself last night when i drew the tower card.
It's not a card to be feared.

I got afraid when i saw it but remembered my teachings. The Tower is actually a great card to get in your readings.
Sudden changes good or bad can be a great way of getting rid of something gross!

Of Darkness
Word Count: 600 exactly

Akira stood motionless at the base of the sixteenth tower. It was an immaculate structure with medically metallic siding. There was no possible way to scale it due to this very reason. The sides were sleek as ice, and the tower loomed in ever-present luminosity, as if it was radiating in a facade of light.

Akira couldn’t but notice that its appearance in contrast to the previous fifteen was great. The others had been obviously filled with dark terrors rumored, and with the musty scent of many years worth of water seeping through undecorated walls. But this tower’s illusion gave off the impression that it was a haven of normality. When in truth, it was the precise opposite.

In reality it was a twisted place of dimensions converged. Within the illusory walls, were the terrors only dared dreamt of within the safest of minds. Akira boldly yet timidly stepped up to the large brass door. She held her breath, and tapped lightly on the metal frame then stepped back to await a response.

Sure enough, the door swung open on silent hinges and opened the passage to the forbidding darkness. As with the other towers, this one too had a theme. From wrath, greed, and fire, she had come to this tower which gave home to Darkness. She entered through the doorway with feeble steps and made her way forward, feeling for the walls of the cramped hall to guide her.

She was the key. The key that unlocked the door, and the key that let loose the thunder. The tower itself had no knowledge of her entry, for it was said, and is so, that the key can bypass the door, and enter undetected. So she crept up a twisting staircase until she reached the room. It was in identical placement in every tower, and Akira had memorized its location by the triumph over the sixth tower.

As she reached the door, her pace slowed and she placed her hand upon the intricately carved door handle. Under her fingers, she felt a slight click as the door unlocked. But upon her entry into the room, she was attacked by Darkness. It slashed at her arms, leaving three long gashes on it, which mocked the holy trinity. She clasped her hand over it in pain and cursed at the endless night around her. It seemed to scoff at her and laugh. She wielded a near by chair and swung it uselessly into the black air. A sudden force ripped it away and she could hear the splinters of wood hit the ground as the chair was destroyed.

Akira, lost in the effort to struggle, lunged to the center of the room, where the basis of the tower was stored. Darkness lifter her high of the floor and flung her ruthlessly across the floor and seeing that there was no way to avert a battle with darkness, she rose to her knees and bent so that her forehead was inches from the floor.

Darkness laughed in a loud booming voice, apparently victorious at the girls mindless chanting. But then there was a thunderous rumble from the heavens, and a sliver of lightening struck the tower, breaking a window through the solid walls. Rubble and dust scattered the floor as the lightening struck again. The Darkness cowered at the aggressive light, and Akira took this chance to dart forward and place her hand on the cylindrical containment of balance.

She muttered a few words, and removed her hand. Thunder shook the tower and it began to rock back and forth.

Then...Silence.

(Here's my entry...sorry it's so dark!!)

Hide and Seek
Word count: 490

An explosion of silent screaming roars through the still lot, leaving you breathless. A pressure seems to build in your head, making you feel somehow squished in your own body, as though there is not enough room. You give a soft curse and stagger forward, determined to enter the building. No ghost or vampire was going to scare you away that easily.

The door is heavier than it should be, but you finally manage to get it open. Shockingly, it doesn’t squeak. Isn’t there a rule somewhere that says haunted house doors have to squeak? You shake the thought away and move into the hallway of the old house. Now is not the time to be distracted by stupid questions.

The hallway appears deserted, but you can sense an otherworldly presence in the door just beyond. Every ounce of common sense screams at you to turn around, to run away. These things are not meant for mere mortals, and you, once again, are in the middle of things you cannot fully comprehend. But you stride forward confidently, betraying the uncertainty in your mind.

The stake feels comfortingly heavy and rough in your hand. The newly formed calluses on your palm make the wood feel odd, but somehow right. This door does creak, and you flinch, expecting attack at any moment. Your shoulders tense and you freeze in the open doorway.

Nothing.

The room is nicely furnished complete with paintings and a beautiful woven rug that feels squishy under your flip-flops. There are decorative vases around the edges of the room. The only other thing in the room is the coffin in the center. It is a nice coffin, as coffins go, with brass laid into the closed lid and sides. It is made of a dark wood and is very shiny, as though somebody has been polishing it. A nervous giggle escapes you at the thought of the vampire leaning over the coffin with a rag and a can of Lysol. It is high pitched and echoes slightly through the room. You stop very quickly, the tension in your shoulders promising a sore morning tomorrow.

Assuming there was a tomorrow.

With this sobering thought, you walk forward slowly, the stake in one hand and the squirt gun loaded with holy water in the other. You stop next to the coffin, and slip the stake under one arm while you grasp the lid with your free hand. The lid is heavy, but finally lifts up and stays there, supported by bracings on the inside.

You lean forward and stare in the empty coffin in confusion as you are grabbed from behind. The vampire whirls you around to face his prefect face, marred only by the fanged smile. You know not to look in his eyes, but you can’t help yourself.

Who would think something so evil could have such beautiful blue eyes? You wonder as you fall forward into their depths.
