~Chapter One~
"Aww Loey, you are too cute." Lynn said as she played with the little, multi-colored cat.
"You really adore that cat, huh Lynn?" Asked Ms. Palmer as she washed the dishes.
"Yes, I love cats." Lynn said happily.
"Are you ready Lynn?" Asked her best friend Alex as he came out of his room with a small duffle bag.
"Yup."
"So where are you kids off to today?" Asked Ms. Palmer.
"Just the movie store." They said at the same time.
"Oh yeah, you guys have movie night tonight."
"Yup," they said again.
"Well have fun." Ms. Palmer said, but the two were already gone. "I swear those two arealways together." She said, petting the cat, Loey.
"Serenity & Amarie are going to there friend's house tonight, so we can get some scary movies." Lynn said as they reached the movie store.
"Great," Alex said, picking out some movies & popcorn. They bought the stuff they needed for movie night, then left for Lynn's house.
Right when Lynn opened the door, her little twin sisters, Serenity & Amarie jumped on Alex. "Alex! Alex! We missed you so much." They said at the same time.
"But I only saw you two days ago." He said while playing with them.
"Mom, I'm home." Lynn said, walking into the kitchen where her mom, Lizabeth was.
"Ok, after I drop off your sisters, I'm going straight to the office. I'll be working late tonight, so if you need anything, Mrs. Davis is next door." She said as she grabbed stuff she needed in a hurry.
"Got it," Lynn said, not really paying attention.
"Hello Ms. Tokoshima," Alex said, walking into the kitchen.
"Hello Alex. Come on girls." She said as she headed out the garage door, the twin girls close behind. "Lynn, there is a list of emergency numbers on the counter."
"Don't worry mom, Alex & I will be fine."
"Ok, bye dear, bye Alex."
"Bye mom."
"Bye Ms. Tokoshima." After she left, Lynn looked out the window. "Ok, it's almost dark. Let's get ready for movie night." She said as she ran up to her room in the attic, which was full of pictures of her & Alex. She got on her pajamas, tied up her long, purplish hair, then ran back down stairs where Alex was waiting in his pajamas. She made some popcorn, turned off the lights, closed the blinds, & popped in the movie.
In the movie, the phone rang, then Lynn's did. She nearly screamed before she answered it. "Hello?"
"Hi Lynn."
"Mom, why are you calling?"
"Just checking up on you."
"I'm fine, bye." Lynn hung up the phone & played the movie.
She & Alex were watching the movie with goosebumps & chills down their spines. Then lightning striked & the blinds shot open. It started pouring outside, and Lynn & Alex were hiding under the blankets. Lynn stood up and with a shaky hand tried to turn on the lights, but they wouldn't turn on. They heard a knock at the door. Lynn gulped as she reached for the knob, Alex hiding behind her. When she opened the door, lightning split the sky. At the door was a shadowy figure. Lynn & Alex screamed  & Lynn's cat ears popped up, but she put a blanket over her head to hide them. Then the lights turned on, at the door was her neighboor Mrs. Davis. "Hello, your mother called and told me to check on you kids." Lynn nearly fainted, "My mom told you to check on us?" She said faintly.
"Yes, sorry if I scared you two. Well goodbye." Mrs. Davis said as she left.
Lynn shut the door angerly. Then noticed Alex huddled in the corner. "Alex, it's ok, it was just my neighboor." She said with a sigh. Her cat ears were finally down. Yes, nobody noticed my ears, she thought. She turned every light on & took out the movie. This was a movie night she & Alex would never forget.
