This is a story my friend Yami is writing.......what do you people think??
Gaelan ran. She could usually out run these jerks but today one of them struck her ankle with a rock. Her appearance stood out along with her attitude. Her appearance was black leather shorts that came down to her knees, a dark brown tunic, and bare feet. Her attitude was evil, that isn’t good when you’re the lowest of the low, which she was. The shots from the gang behind her grew as it came closer to her. “Devil Child! Why run? We’ll catch you either way!” As the approached the smith shop Gaelan hid in the shadows. The gang came around the corner as the smith came to check out the racket. “What you boys doing casing a racket outside my shop today?” The smith shouted in his grizzly growling voice. “We are looking for the girl that is called the Devil Child. We saw her come around here,” one of the gang members answered. “As you boys better be able to see, cause your not blind, ain‘t no one but me here! Get lost you mutts!” The boys went back to town. “I owe you one,” Gaelan said as she stepped out of the shadows. The smith jumped. “Were in the world did you come from?” The smith said shaken as he stared at the girl’s appearance. Only one thing really caught his eyes. Her hair. It was blonde with black and red streaks. “I see why you’re called the devil’s child.” “My name is Gaelan Uth, but call me Gaelan or Gaelan Hawk,” Gaelan said sternly. Uth was a hated name around this town. Her parents were hung when she was about three for horrible things that they had done or started. “Uth? Hawk? Wasn’t Uth the name of that couple that was hung about ten years ago and aren’t hawks the bird that the Lordship wants?” The smith questioned with a strange look on his face. “The answer to both of those questions is yes. I was about three when my parents died and hawks are gorgeous birds,” Gaelan voice was sad when talking about her parents but happier when speaking of the hawks. “I better be off, you most likely have work to finish.” She started to limp off. “You want to work? I’ll let you room here if you do. You look strong, maybe even stronger when our ankles better. So, what do you say?” the smith questioned. He’s apprentice had gone of to do work and he needed some help. No one in their right mind asked a girl to do a man’s job but the smith felt sad for Galean. “Thank you o much and don’t worry I might be a girl but I can do many men’s jobs,” Galean was so happy she forgot about the pain in her but soon remembered when she tried to walk on it. She fell but the smith caught her. They went inside just as the smith wife said that dinner was done cooking and he should get it while it was hot. ****************************************************** “Who is this fine young lassie?” The smith’s wife asked casually. “Her name is Galean. She’ll be working and boarding her,” the smith answered through a mouthful of food. “What work is she doing May I ask.” The smith’s wife asked forcefully. “Smithing after her ankle is heals, why?” The smith answered still with food in his mouth. “Smithing? That may love is a man’s job. She probably can’t even lift the tongs!” The smith’s wife shouted red with anger at her husband’s stupidity. They all ate. Then the smith’s wife, Leah, led Galean to her room. That night Galean didn’t get any sleep. Thoughts of her parents drifted through her head. Watching them hang, knowing the reason that they were hung. The reason was her. She had been strange sense berth. The next morning Galean came downstairs and Leah gasped. She wasn’t liming like she should be. “I can work today,” Galean stared ignoring Leah’s worried looks. “Great! Come on out ate,” the smith was excited, it was written all over his face. “I’m not hungry,” she was but she didn’t want to have to answer Leah’s questions. She fallowed the smith outside. He showed her what to do. “You can also call me Ray,” Ray was hammering away at a red-hot piece of metal that was going to be a dagger. Later that same day Ray had to go to town and Leah was at the barn. Galean walked into the workroom and started working. By the time Ray came back she was almost done. He stared at her as she worked quickly but carefully. She had created a beautiful dagger with careful inscriptions that were a dead language or one that no one knew. “I’m going to go explore the woods. See you later, Leah!” Galean shouted as she ran out the doors. “But the woods are forbidden to those of low power! Galean get back here!” Leah’s shouts seemed to bounce right of of Galean. Since her ankle was better she ran
yes she isn't very far but i thought it was good
